On the US Galaxy Z Fold7, use Side/Power + Volume Down for a screenshot, then tap Scroll capture to extend it down a long page. For paper, use Camera → Scan → Save; to make a PDF, add the saved scan to Samsung Notes and choose More options → Save as file → PDF file.
The important distinction: a screenshot captures pixels displayed on the screen; a camera scan captures paper and can straighten its perspective. Neither automatically gives you a searchable copy of the original text. When fidelity or searchability matters, keep or download the original file.
Choose the right capture method

Samsung lists the Fold7’s unfolded inner display at 2,184 × 1,968 pixels and its cover display at 2,520 × 1,080 pixels. A screenshot reflects the display and content as rendered, with app layout and any later cropping affecting the result; the larger unfolded screen can make dense content easier to inspect, but does not recover detail absent from the display. Take a standard screenshot
- Open the screen you want to preserve.
- Press and release Side/Power + Volume Down at the same time.
- Use the on-screen controls to crop, draw, or share. If the content continues below the screen, use Scroll capture before leaving the screenshot controls.
- To find the image later, open Gallery → Albums → Screenshots.
This is the simplest choice when the whole item fits on screen, or when you need a quick visual record. Samsung documents the shortcut and screenshot toolbar in its Galaxy screenshot instructions. Palm swipe may also work if enabled; Quick Settings or Edge panel screenshot shortcuts can be available on supported Galaxy software, but labels and availability can vary.

Capture a long page with Scroll capture
- Open the scrollable page, document preview, message thread, or list.
- Take a standard screenshot with Side/Power + Volume Down.
- In the screenshot toolbar, tap Scroll capture (the downward-arrow icon). Tap or hold it to extend the capture as needed.
- Stop when you have the desired section, then crop or share the image.
Scroll capture is useful when a single image is more convenient than several separate screenshots. It is not universal: the app must expose content in a way the capture tool can follow, and secure screens, protected media, or unusual scrolling may block it or produce an incomplete result. If a webpage loads more content as you scroll, wait for it to finish loading; for a very long page, capture smaller sections rather than making one unwieldy image. A scroll capture is generally a tall raster image—not a searchable PDF or a copy of the source page. If the page is already a PDF or downloadable document, save or share that original instead. It preserves the document’s structure and usually makes text easier to search, select, and print.

Make screenshots as readable as possible
- Unfold the phone for dense material. The inner display is useful for reviewing wide tables and small text; the cover display is convenient for quick captures.
- Set the source zoom before capture. Enlarge small type enough to read, while keeping the context you need in frame.
- Wait for the page to finish rendering. Let images and web fonts load and dismiss notification banners, keyboards, or floating overlays.
- Crop with care. Remove browser controls or blank margins, but do not cut off headings, dates, or other context that makes the capture useful.
- Keep the image intact when sharing. Some messaging or social apps may resize or compress images; use a file-sharing route when detail is important.
- Break up dense tables or spreadsheets. Several readable captures can be more useful than one extremely tall image.
“High quality” here means a clear record of what the display showed, not a higher-resolution duplicate of the original file. The Fold7’s 200MP rear-camera mode applies to camera photographs, not screenshots; it does not increase screenshot resolution. Scan a paper document with Camera
- Place the paper flat on a contrasting surface. Use even, diffuse light and move the page or light to avoid glare.
- Open Camera and use the rear camera. Keep the phone steady and as parallel to the page as possible; make sure the page edges are visible.
- Wait for the document-detection control to appear, then tap Scan.
- Review the result. If a page edge, stamp, signature, or note has been cropped, tap Retake and adjust the framing.
- Tap Save. The scan is saved in Gallery.
Samsung says its document scanning can straighten rectangular pages and remove unwanted shadows or hands. The feature is different from simply taking a photograph: it detects the page and applies document-oriented correction. See Samsung’s Fold7 camera guide and its document scanning instructions.

Use the rear camera, not the selfie camera. A sharp, well-lit, square-on capture matters more than selecting the camera’s highest megapixel mode. The Fold7 has a 200MP wide rear camera, but that does not make 200MP mode an automatic improvement for document scans. Check small print at full size before putting away or discarding the paper original.
If the Scan button does not appear
- Move the phone so all four page edges are visible and the page looks rectangular in the viewfinder.
- Improve the light, reduce reflections, and move farther away if the page is too close to frame.
- Confirm you are using the rear camera in standard Photo mode.
- Check Camera settings for document/text scanning or an Auto scan control. Its location can change across Camera and One UI updates, so do not rely on a fixed menu path.
- Check for Camera and phone software updates, then try again.
- If detection still fails, take an ordinary photo. You can crop it in Gallery, insert it into Samsung Notes, and export it as a PDF—but it may not receive the same automatic perspective correction as a scan.
For curved, bound, glossy, unusually sized, or irregular pages, a normal photo may preserve the whole scene better than an automatic crop. If you scan large batches, need duplex capture or OCR, or require predictable archival output, a dedicated scanner or scanning app may be a better fit than the native workflow.

Turn a saved scan into a PDF with Samsung Notes
The Camera scan is saved as an image in Gallery; the documented native route to a PDF is to place that image in a Samsung Notes note and export the note.
- Open Samsung Notes and tap New note.
- Tap Attach → Image → Gallery.
- Select the saved scan and tap Done.
- Add notes or annotations if needed. To make a multi-page document, insert the other page images in the order you want them to appear.
- Tap More options (the three vertical dots), then Save as file → PDF file.
- Choose or create a destination folder, rename the file if desired, and tap Save.
Samsung’s guides cover adding a scan to Samsung Notes and saving or sharing a note as a PDF. Choose Save as file when you need a local PDF. Use Share when your immediate goal is to send the note as a PDF through an available sharing destination.

Build and check a multi-page PDF
Scan and save each page, insert the page images into one note in the intended order, then export the note as one PDF. Before sending it, open the saved file in My Files or a PDF viewer and check that:
- Pages are in the right order and none are missing.
- Each page is upright, with its edges, signatures, and small print visible.
- The file size is practical for the recipient or upload limit.
- The pages have compatible orientation. Samsung Notes cautions that note and PDF orientation should match; portrait and landscape material may not combine cleanly. For mixed orientations, separate notes or later PDF editing may be necessary.
Do not assume this PDF has OCR. A Camera scan inserted as an image is essentially page imagery in a PDF container; it may not contain selectable or searchable text. Try selecting a word or searching within the exported file to check. If that does not work and text recognition is essential, use an OCR-capable workflow. Samsung also notes that text and handwriting in Samsung Notes PDFs may be saved as low-resolution images for performance, so do not treat Notes export as guaranteed print-production or archival output. Quick troubleshooting

| PDF is too large or small type is unclear | Verify the image quality and file size. Rescan small text or use the original digital file; for repeated compression or high-volume scanning, consider a dedicated workflow. |
When the built-in tools are enough
For occasional captures and paper scans, the Fold7’s Screenshot, Scroll capture, Camera, Gallery, and Samsung Notes cover the basic workflow without a separate app. Use the original digital document whenever possible; use Scroll capture for long on-screen content; use Camera Scan for paper; and use Notes export when you need a PDF from the scans. Move to a dedicated OCR or scanning workflow only when you need searchable text, batch or duplex processing, compression controls, or more predictable professional output. The Fold7 specification sheet lists S Pen support as unavailable, so this workflow does not depend on an S Pen. Interface labels can shift with software updates; Samsung’s US instructions are the best reference if your menu differs.
