This captures content below the visible screen, unlike a normal full-screen snip. The right method depends on whether you need an entire webpage, the visible Windows desktop, or a scrolling document inside another application.
Choose the capture you actually need

“Full screen” and “full page” are different. A full-screen snip records the desktop as displayed at that moment. A full-page browser capture continues down the webpage, including material that would normally require scrolling.
Fastest method: Edge’s Capture full page
- Open the webpage in Microsoft Edge and wait for the content you need to finish loading.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page in the Screenshot interface.
- Review the long capture. Use the available drawing or markup tools if you need to annotate it.
- Save the image or copy it to the clipboard.
Microsoft documents this shortcut and the Capture full page option. Edge’s labels and keyboard shortcuts can change, so if the shortcut does not open Screenshot, use the Screenshot command in the current Edge toolbar or menu and look for the equivalent full-page option.
Before you capture
- Close cookie prompts, newsletter dialogs and chat bubbles if they obscure content. Edge captures what the page presents at capture time.
- Scroll through the page once if it uses lazy loading and important images have not appeared. Some pages load media only as it approaches the viewport.
- Keep the page at the zoom level and theme you want represented. The result reflects the rendered page, not an editable webpage.
- For a page that changes while it loads, wait until its text, images and embedded content are stable before starting.
What Edge produces
The output is an image-style capture of the webpage extending below the current viewport. It is useful for sharing a design, documenting an article or preserving a visual record. Markup is available before copying or saving, according to Microsoft’s product instructions.

Why Snipping Tool may not be the answer
Windows Snipping Tool supports rectangular, free-form, window and full-screen snips, along with video snips. Microsoft’s current support instructions do not describe a stitched, scrolling full-webpage mode. Use it when you need the screen as shown, a selected region or a single window—not when you need everything below the fold on a webpage.
Take a normal full-screen snip
- Open Snipping Tool from the Start menu.
- Choose the snip mode that matches your need, such as Full screen or Window.
- Capture the screen, then use the editor to copy or save it.
If a desktop program contains a long document or list, this produces only the visible portion. It will not automatically scroll through that program.
Windows 11 questions: webpage or scrolling app?
Entire webpage
Use Edge’s Capture full page. This is the most directly documented Windows route in the available Microsoft guidance.

Another browser
Firefox and Chrome have offered whole-page routes, including Firefox’s Save full page command and Chrome workflows involving developer tools, printing or extensions. These controls are version-dependent, and the documented third-party directions are from a 2022 guide. Check the current browser interface before relying on an exact menu name.
PDF viewer or desktop application
A specialist utility may be required for a scrolling window outside the browser. PicPick, for example, has been described as offering a Scrolling Window capture for browser pages and PDFs. Confirm current application support and licensing with the vendor before installing it; it is not a built-in Windows capability.
Need a PDF instead of an image?
Use the application’s print command and select a PDF printer when available. This preserves a document-oriented layout and is often better for reading or archiving, but it should not be called a screenshot. Web fonts, page breaks, backgrounds and interactive elements can render differently in a PDF.

Capturing difficult pages
Lazy-loaded images are missing
Move through the page so images load, wait briefly, then run the full-page command again. A page that injects content only after scrolling may not expose every asset to a capture started immediately after navigation.
Fixed headers repeat or cover content
Sticky navigation is part of the rendered page. If it overlaps sections in the result, try the page’s reader or print view, temporarily collapse the header, or use a capture service that can hide a selector or apply custom CSS.
Cookie banners, chat and newsletter popups block the page
Dismiss them before using Edge. If the page immediately recreates them, an automated capture workflow with element-hiding or consent handling is more reliable than repeatedly taking manual snips.
The page is extremely long
Expect a large image and slower saving or clipboard operations. A PDF, a set of section captures or an automated endpoint may be more practical for sharing. Preserve the original URL and capture time alongside the file when the image is being used as evidence.

Dynamic or personalized content changes
Sign-in state, location, timezone, experiments and live feeds can change what appears. Record the account context and relevant settings, and capture after the page reaches a stable state. A screenshot is a visual record, not a guarantee that the same content will remain available.

- Shortcut does nothing: open Edge’s current Screenshot command and check its displayed shortcut; another application or a changed browser binding may be intercepting the keys.
- Only the visible screen was saved: you used Snipping Tool or a region command. Reopen Edge Screenshot and select Capture full page.
- Content is cut off: wait for lazy-loaded sections, close overlays and retry at a stable page state.
- Capture is unreadable: use a higher browser zoom or an automated capture with a larger viewport or retina scale; verify that the receiving app can display a very tall image.
- Output should be searchable: choose print-to-PDF or save the source page instead; an image screenshot does not preserve selectable text.
- Automated request fails: check the URL, access key, authentication headers, timeout and page verdict headers; bot checks, blank pages and failed loads are reported rather than silently treated as successful captures.

Can Windows Snipping Tool take a scrolling screenshot?
Microsoft’s current support documentation lists screen-snipping modes but does not document a scrolling full-page mode. For a webpage, use Edge’s Capture full page.
Does a full-page screenshot include content below the fold?
Yes. The purpose of Edge’s full-page command is to capture webpage content that would otherwise require scrolling.
Is print to PDF the same as a full-page screenshot?
No. PDF printing creates a document with page layout and breaks; a screenshot is a visual image of the rendered page.
