To capture an entire webpage in Microsoft Edge, open the page, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose Capture full page, review the result, and save or copy it. Edge captures content below the visible screen, so you do not have to scroll through the page manually.
Microsoft has used two names for this feature. Current Edge documentation calls it Screenshot; a 2024 tutorial calls it Web capture. The shortcut and the full-page workflow are the same even when the label differs in your installation.
Take a full-page screenshot in Edge
- Open the webpage. Navigate to the page you want to preserve and wait for the content you need to appear.
- Open Edge’s capture tool. Press Ctrl+Shift+S. You can also open the Edge menu (the three-dot button) and choose Screenshot or Web capture. Depending on the Edge version, the command may also be available from the page’s right-click menu or the browser’s Settings menu.
- Choose Capture full page. Do not choose Capture area unless you only need a selected rectangle. Full-page capture includes content extending below the viewport without requiring manual scrolling.
- Review and save. Inspect the captured page, then use the available save, copy, or markup controls. The exact buttons can vary by Edge version; Microsoft documents drawing and annotation as well as copying and saving.
This is Edge’s native method and does not require installing an extension or buying another screenshot application.
Where the command appears in different Edge versions
If a help article or coworker uses a different label, look for both names:

Microsoft’s naming and menu placement have changed, so searching Edge help for either “Screenshot” or “Web capture” can be necessary.
What full-page capture is—and what it is not
It captures the webpage, not just the monitor
A full-page capture is designed for a long or moving webpage. It extends beyond the visible viewport and avoids the stitched-together, manually scrolled workflow required by an ordinary screen grab.
It is different from a screen-region capture
Windows Snipping Tool can capture the screen, a window, or a selected region. That is useful when you need exactly what is visible, but it is not the same as capturing an entire webpage that continues below the fold.
It is different from printing
Edge’s print dialog can print all pages or selected pages and lets you customize print output. Use printing when the goal is a document. Use Capture full page when the goal is an image of the webpage.

Edge’s documentation does not promise one universal maximum page length or identical rendering for every dynamic or embedded element. Content that changes while the page is loading, requires an interaction, or is supplied by an external embed may appear differently in the capture than it does during browsing. Let the page finish loading and verify the result before relying on it as a record.

Review, annotate, copy, and save the result
- Check the top and bottom. Make sure the capture starts at the intended page position and reaches the final content you need.
- Look for overlays. Cookie notices, newsletter prompts, chat panels, and other fixed-position elements can remain part of the page if they are present when Edge captures it.
- Mark important areas if needed. Edge’s capture interface can provide pen or touch markup; controls depend on your version and device.
- Choose an output action. Save the capture to keep a file, or copy it when you need to paste it into a document or message.
Because Microsoft does not state one universal output format or maximum capture length for every Edge release, treat the displayed save options as authoritative for your installation.
If Capture full page is missing
Check the alternate entry points
Try the keyboard shortcut first, then the three-dot menu. On versions that expose it, right-click the webpage and look for Screenshot or Web capture. The command may be placed differently after an Edge update.
Update Edge and restart it
An outdated installation can have a different interface or lack a recently documented entry point. Update Edge, restart the browser, reopen the page, and try Ctrl+Shift+S again.
Check whether an administrator disabled it
Enterprise policy documentation identifies a setting that can enable or disable Screenshot, formerly called Web Capture. On a managed work or school computer, ask the administrator whether that policy is blocking the feature. You may not be able to change it yourself.
Consider regional availability
Microsoft’s 2024 how-to is written specifically for the United States and cautions that features, functionality, and availability can vary by region. A missing command can therefore be a rollout or regional-availability issue rather than a problem with your keyboard.

Use DevTools as an advanced fallback
Edge DevTools provides a command named Capture a full size screenshot. It is intended for users comfortable with developer tools and is a useful fallback when the ordinary Screenshot/Web capture interface is unavailable. It is not the same as Windows Snipping Tool, which only records the screen, window, or selected region.

When a browser workflow is the wrong tool
Edge is convenient for an occasional manual capture. A different approach is more practical when you need to process many URLs, run captures from a build system, control authentication headers or cookies, select one CSS element, wait for network idle, or produce repeatable PDFs.
