To display a site-wide list of recent comments on your WordPress homepage, add the Latest Comments block to the page, template, or widget area that actually renders the homepage. First identify that location: WordPress can use a latest-posts view, a static front page, or a block-theme template.

Find out what renders your homepage

Go to Settings → Reading in your WordPress dashboard. Check whether the site is set to show your latest posts or a static page. WordPress explains the front-page choices in its Reading Settings guide.

If your homepage is a static page

Open the page assigned as the Homepage and edit it, unless its layout is controlled by a template. WordPress’s static front page guide covers choosing a Homepage and, optionally, a separate Posts page.

If your site uses a block theme

Go to Appearance → Editor → Templates and inspect the homepage-related template. If a Front Page template exists, it is used for the front page regardless of the Reading setting. A block theme’s Site Editor can customize the homepage; for post listings, the Query Loop and Post Template blocks control how posts are displayed. See WordPress’s Site Editor guide.

If your homepage shows latest posts

Find the template, template part, or widget area responsible for the homepage output. Adding a block to an unrelated page will not change the page visitors see as the homepage.

Add a site-wide recent-comments list

  1. Open the page, template, template part, or widget area that renders the homepage.

  2. Open the block inserter with the + button and search for Latest Comments. You can also type /latest-comments in the editor.

  3. Insert the block, then set the number of comments to display. Choose whether to show commenter avatars, comment dates, and excerpts.

  4. Save or update the page or template, then visit the public homepage to check the block’s position and appearance.

The Latest Comments block is designed to show recent comments from across the site and can be added to a page, template, template part, or widget area.

Use the Comments block in a post or page template when you want that content’s own thread, rather than a homepage feed of recent comments.
