Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Use WooCommerce as the commerce foundation, then add a B2B extension for wholesale accounts, role-based prices, catalog access and trade checkout rules. Start by deciding whether your store will serve businesses only or combine B2B and retail; that choice affects who can see products and how customers receive account features.
Choose a B2B-only or hybrid store
A B2B-only store serves business buyers. A hybrid store serves both business buyers and consumers, with selected customers receiving wholesale features. Make this decision before configuring accounts and product visibility: it determines whether the public can browse the catalog, whether prices are visible to guests, and how business accounts differ from ordinary customer accounts.
Write down the intended experience for each visitor type. For example, decide whether a guest can browse products, whether a retail customer sees public pricing, and whether an approved reseller sees a separate price after signing in.
Choose an extension for the buying process you need
WooCommerce supplies the core store; a B2B extension provides the business-specific controls. Compare extensions against your actual requirements rather than choosing on the length of a feature list. Product documentation describes the following general fits:

| B2B & Wholesale Suite | Stores where procurement workflows are central | Group pricing and quantity tiers, with optional quotes, bulk-order forms, shopping lists, bundles, and multiple employee accounts. |
Features and terms can change. Check each extension’s current compatibility, supported workflows, maintenance status, and license cost before buying; no pricing or compatibility figures are established here.
Set up the store in a deliberate sequence
1. Install WooCommerce and the B2B extension
- Install and configure WooCommerce as the store’s commerce foundation.
- Download the chosen B2B extension’s ZIP file. In WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New, choose the upload option, select the ZIP, install it, and activate the plugin.
- Open the extension’s newly added B2B or wholesale settings area in WordPress admin and review its defaults before making the store public.
2. Define business buyer groups and registration
Create groups or roles that correspond to real commercial relationships, such as distributor, reseller, dealer, or approved business account. Each group should have a clear reason to exist: for example, different pricing, a distinct product catalog, or different checkout terms. Avoid creating roles that do not change the customer experience or store rules.
Rank #2
Choose how customers become members of each group:
- Open registration: applicants can request a business account without a manual invitation.
- Restricted registration: only invited or otherwise eligible customers can apply.
- Approval-based registration: an administrator reviews an application before assigning the buyer to a group.
Collect the business information needed to assess an application, using the extension’s custom registration fields where available. Keep the form focused on information your team actually uses to verify or serve the account. Decide who reviews applications, how approved buyers are assigned to groups, and how applicants are told that approval is pending or complete.
3. Set catalog access and price visibility
Choose separately whether visitors may browse products and whether they may see prices. Depending on the extension, you can keep the catalog public while hiding prices until login, limit selected products or categories to particular groups, or show a request-a-quote action instead of a price for chosen products.
Rank #3
Check the customer journey in both logged-out and logged-in states. A price-hidden product should not accidentally reveal its price elsewhere in the store, and a restricted product should be unavailable to the wrong audience through product pages as well as category listings.
4. Configure role-based and volume pricing
Set fixed prices or percentage adjustments for each role or group where buyers genuinely receive different terms. If buyers pay less when ordering larger quantities, configure quantity ranges and their minimum quantities as a separate rule. A role-based wholesale price and a quantity discount solve different problems: the first depends on who is buying; the second depends on how much they buy.
Rank #4
Test boundary quantities as well as typical orders. Confirm that the intended price appears at the minimum tier, changes at the next tier, and applies to the correct group. Check how discounts interact with any other product or coupon pricing rules before launch.
5. Configure tax, payment, and shipping by buyer and location
Set tax-exemption behavior only for the buyers and jurisdictions where it is appropriate. WooCommerce and B2B extensions provide software controls, but they do not establish what a particular transaction should receive under local tax rules; confirm the treatment with your tax adviser.

Then decide which payment and shipping methods each group can use. Depending on extension support and the store’s setup, trade customers may need options such as invoice-style payment terms, freight, local pickup, or a business-specific delivery method. Configure only methods the business can actually fulfill and support.
6. Add procurement tools only when they fit
Enable request-a-quote, bulk-order forms, shopping lists, bundles, or multi-account buyer access only if they match how customers place and manage orders. These are distinct workflows, not prerequisites for selling wholesale. Optional modules that the business does not use can make administration more complicated without improving the buyer experience.

Test with accounts for each buyer group, as well as a logged-out visitor and a regular retail customer if the store is hybrid. Use test products and representative order quantities. Verify the storefront and checkout rules together, not just the extension’s settings screens.
- Registration: Can an eligible applicant submit the required business details? Does an approval-based account receive the right group only after review?
- Catalog and prices: Can each audience see the products and prices intended for it? Do hidden prices, restricted categories, and quote actions behave as configured?
- Pricing: Does each group receive the correct fixed or percentage price? Do quantity tiers change at the intended quantities?
- Tax: Does the intended tax treatment apply for each relevant buyer and location? Have you confirmed the treatment with a tax adviser?
- Payment and shipping: Does each group see only the methods it is meant to use? Can the business fulfill the selected method for the buyer’s location?
- Order handling: Does the resulting order contain the information staff need to process, fulfill, and support it?
Correct mismatches before opening registration or directing customers to the store. Re-run the relevant tests whenever you change group rules, pricing, tax settings, or checkout methods.

Connect ERP, CRM, and fulfillment systems when needed
Use the extension’s settings for ordinary group, pricing, visibility, and checkout rules. If the required behavior is not available through settings—such as a custom payment gateway, shipping method, or other application-specific behavior—WooCommerce’s developer APIs allow direct interaction with WooCommerce classes. More complex ERP, CRM, or fulfillment workflows may require custom development or an agency; define the data and process that must pass between systems before commissioning an integration.
