Google Play does not offer one universal, date-stamped “download history” page. Use the destination that matches what you need: Not installed for apps you previously used, Play History for recent Play activity, Purchase history for paid transactions, and account activity or an export when you need installation dates.
Find apps you downloaded before and removed
On an Android phone or tablet:
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Tap your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
- Tap Manage apps & device.
- Open the Manage tab.
- Change the filter labeled Installed, This device, or similar wording to Not installed.
- Search or browse the list, select an app, and tap Install.
This is Google’s current reinstall workflow (Google’s instructions). The list is best understood as an account-linked app library, not a complete chronological log. The exact labels can vary by Play Store release, device, language, and account.
See apps currently installed
Follow Play Store → profile picture → Manage apps & device → Manage, then leave the filter on Installed or This device. This shows apps available on the phone you are using, not necessarily every app ever associated with your Google Account.

Check recent Google Play activity
For activity rather than a reinstall list, open Play Store → profile picture → Personalization in Play → Play History. Google says this can include Google Play activity and app usage, depending on your settings. Retention and auto-delete controls affect how much appears, so it is not guaranteed to be a permanent lifetime installation record. See Google’s Play History help.

Review paid apps, subscriptions, and in-app purchases
Open Play Store → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history → Purchase history. This records transactions, not every free download. A subscription or in-app purchase can appear here even though it is not an app-install event. Purchase history is tied to the selected Google Account. Details are in Google’s purchase-history guide.
Find the date an app was installed
The Not installed list normally does not show a reliable first-install date or every install and uninstall event. If dates matter, try these options:
- Play History: Check Personalization in Play → Play History for recent saved activity.
- Google Account activity: In Google My Activity, look under Other activity for Google Play library, then choose View activity if that section is available. This route is based on Google community guidance and the interface may change.
- Google Takeout: An advanced export may contain Play Store installation data, sometimes referenced as an
installs.jsonfile in community guidance. Export contents and file names vary by account, so do not treat it as a guaranteed, perfectly complete lifetime ledger.
If your Play Store version offers a sort control in the Not installed list, a Recently added or similar option may help narrow the search. Not every version exposes the same sorting choices; otherwise, search manually.

Why an old app may be missing
- You are signed in to a different Google Account from the one used originally.
- The app was sideloaded, installed from another store, or came preinstalled.
- The app is incompatible with the current phone or Android version.
- The app is unavailable in your current country or region.
- The developer or Google removed the listing, so it may no longer appear in the reinstall list.
- You are looking at a different Google service, such as Google Play Games, rather than the Play Store.
If Not installed is missing, make sure you opened Manage (not just Overview), check the active account, look for an Installed/This device dropdown, update Play components if offered, and restart the Play Store or device. Clearing local app data does not recreate history stored on another account.
Reinstall an old app on another Android device
Sign in to the same Google Account, open the Not installed list, select the app, and tap Install. Previously purchased apps generally do not require another payment on compatible Android devices when that same account is used. Compatibility, regional availability, and a removed listing can still prevent installation (Google’s reinstall guidance).
Can you do this on a computer?
You can browse Google Play at play.google.com and install compatible apps remotely. Google documents the detailed Not installed library workflow for the Android Play Store app, however, so the website is not a guaranteed substitute for that list. Which history should you use?

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see every app I have ever downloaded?
Not reliably in one place. The Not installed list is the practical recovery tool, but account changes, removed apps, regional availability, compatibility, and non-Play installations can leave gaps.
Is purchase history the same as download history?
No. Purchase history covers paid apps, subscriptions, and in-app purchases. Free downloads generally do not appear as purchases.
Does Google Play show apps installed outside the Play Store?
No. Apps sideloaded or installed from another store may not appear in the Play Store’s account-linked lists.

What if I used multiple Google Accounts?
Switch accounts from the Play Store profile menu and check each account’s Manage and Purchase history sections.
Can I recover an app removed from Google Play?
The app may disappear from the reinstall list when Google or its developer removes the listing. If it is unavailable, use only a trustworthy, legitimate source and verify compatibility and security.

The Bottom Line
For a normal recovery, use Manage apps & device → Manage → Not installed. Use Play History for recent activity and Purchase history for transactions; neither should be mistaken for a guaranteed, complete lifetime download log.
