To see page views in WordPress, open WP Admin → Stats → Traffic when Jetpack Stats is connected. The Traffic screen shows views over time, visitors, referrers and your most-viewed posts and pages. If Stats is not active, enable it at WP Admin → Jetpack → Settings → Traffic. You can also see a condensed Stats widget at Dashboard → Home.

Open the page-view report

  1. Sign in to your WordPress administration area.
  2. In the left-hand menu, select Stats, then open Traffic. Jetpack calls this the Traffic dashboard and documents the navigation in its Traffic Dashboard guide.
  3. Choose a date range and any available breakdown to inspect traffic by day, post, page or other category.
  4. Use the popular posts and pages section to identify individual URLs receiving views.

If you only need a quick number, go to Dashboard → Home and look for the Jetpack Stats widget. The widget uses the same reporting system and is updated on the same schedule.

Stats is missing from the menu

Go to Jetpack → Settings → Traffic and activate Stats. Jetpack must be connected to WordPress.com for the feature to collect and display data. After activation, return to Stats → Traffic; a newly enabled site may need time to accumulate data.

See views beside posts and pages

With Jetpack installed and connected, the Posts and Pages list can include a Stats column showing the previous 30 days for each item. Jetpack documents this view at Viewing Jetpack Stats in the WP Admin Posts and Pages List.

What Jetpack means by a “page view”

Jetpack states that it counts a view when someone directly loads a post, page or archive URL on your site. One visitor can load several pages or reload the same page, so total views are normally higher than the number of visitors.

Content group What it includes
Posts & Pages Individual posts, static pages and the homepage.
Archives Tag pages, search results, 404 pages, author listings and other archive-type URLs.

A password-protected URL can be counted even when the visitor does not unlock the content. Reporting for private pages depends on the visitor’s permission and how your site’s roles are configured for Stats.

Views versus visitors

Views measure loads of content URLs. Visitors represent people or browsing sessions as Jetpack identifies them. A single visitor may produce many views, while a browser that does not run the tracking code may produce neither. Do not treat views as a unique-person count.

What the free and paid Stats plans show

Jetpack’s plan documentation says the free plan includes views and visitors, top posts and pages, referrers, clicks, search terms, authors, downloads, video plays, insights, subscribers and country-level locations. Paid Stats adds UTM statistics, device statistics and region/city locations. A paid plan is not required merely to view page views.

Why the number may look low

Jetpack does not promise that every request becomes a recorded view. Its troubleshooting documentation identifies several common exclusions:

  • Visits by the logged-in site administrator may be excluded by default.
  • Browsers that do not execute JavaScript or load images may not send the tracking event.
  • Googlebot and other search-engine spiders are excluded.
  • Logged-in registered users may be excluded, depending on your configuration.

You can configure which logged-in user views are counted. The Traffic screen is updated about every 30 minutes, so a visit made moments ago may not appear immediately. Allow at least one update interval before diagnosing a missing visit.

Check the theme footer

If Stats is enabled but remains at zero, Jetpack’s troubleshooting guide recommends checking whether the active theme calls WordPress’s wp_footer() function. Tracking code added through that hook cannot run when a theme omits it. Also temporarily test with caching, optimization and script-blocking plugins considered: an aggressive configuration can prevent the Stats script from loading.

Account for migrations

Jetpack ties statistics to WordPress content IDs, not only to URLs. After a migration that changes internal post or page IDs, labels can look unexpected or historical entries can appear to be missing. The URL may be unchanged while Jetpack treats the migrated item as a different content record. Jetpack describes this behavior in its Stats troubleshooting FAQ.

Use another analytics service when you need more context

Jetpack Stats is the quickest place inside WordPress to answer “how many views did this page get?” For campaign attribution, detailed event funnels or broader reporting, you can run Jetpack alongside another analytics service. Treat the systems as separate measurements: different tracking scripts, consent choices, bot filters and time zones can produce different totals.

The Google Analytics integration note

For self-hosted WordPress, Jetpack says its former Google Analytics integration stopped being included effective August 2024, beginning with Jetpack version 13.7. WordPress.com-hosted sites continue to support that integration. Do not follow older self-hosted instructions that assume a current Jetpack Google Analytics switch; use the current Jetpack and analytics-provider documentation instead. Jetpack also notes an old standalone plugin option, but it is not maintained and is not available in the WordPress.org plugin repository.

Privacy information shown by Jetpack

Jetpack says Stats does not show the site owner data that explicitly identifies an individual visitor. Its documentation says logs that may contain visitor IP addresses and WordPress.com usernames are retained for 28 days. That description explains Jetpack’s data visibility and retention; it is not a blanket legal-compliance guarantee for every jurisdiction or cookie configuration. Review your privacy notice and consent requirements separately.

Documenting your WordPress report with a clean screenshot

If you need to attach a Stats report to a ticket, hand it to a client or archive a monthly snapshot, capture the report after setting the date range you want. Hide personal data that is not needed, and remember that a screenshot is a copy of the report at that moment, not live analytics.

Or skip the browser setup

ScreenshotNeo can capture a URL with one request, including PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF output. Before capture it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each cleanup step can be disabled. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.

For a public or authenticated report URL, use the API documented at ScreenshotNeo’s API documentation. The endpoint supports full-page capture, CSS-element selection, device and viewport settings, retina scale, PDF options, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicks, selector waits, network-idle waits, request blocking, headers, cookies, user agents, authorization, timezone, geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, TTL caching, signed links, asynchronous webhooks, bulk capture and a usage API.

cURL:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

Python:

import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)

Node.js:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);

Replace the example URL with the report URL you are permitted to capture and supply any required authentication securely. ScreenshotNeo offers 1,000 shots per month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Create a free ScreenshotNeo account.

Practical checks before you trust a comparison

  • Use the same date range and time zone in every report.
  • Record whether logged-in users, administrators and consent-denying browsers were excluded.
  • Compare views with visitors rather than calling either number “unique users” without qualification.
  • Wait for Jetpack’s 30-minute update cycle before exporting or escalating a discrepancy.
  • After a migration, verify content IDs and not only visible URLs.

Frequently encountered errors

“Stats” does not appear

Activate Stats under Jetpack → Settings → Traffic, complete the Jetpack connection and reload the admin page. If the menu remains absent, confirm that the account has permission to manage Jetpack settings.

The report says zero

Wait one 30-minute refresh, then check wp_footer(), script optimization and whether your test browser is logged in as an excluded user.

A page is missing from Top Posts and Pages

Confirm that you are viewing the correct date range and that the URL is a post or page rather than an archive. If the site was migrated, investigate changed internal IDs.

Jetpack and another analytics tool disagree

Different JavaScript execution, consent, bot filtering, time zones and definitions can all change totals. Compare configuration and collection rules before looking for a software defect.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly do WordPress page views appear in Jetpack?

Jetpack says the Traffic view and its Dashboard widget update every 30 minutes, so allow that interval before checking a new visit.

Can I see page views without paying for Jetpack Stats?

Yes. Jetpack documents views, visitors and top posts and pages in its free Stats plan; paid Stats adds UTM, device and region/city reports.

Does Jetpack count my own visits?

Logged-in administrator and other registered-user visits may be excluded by default. Jetpack lets you configure which logged-in user views are counted.

Why did page totals change after moving my site?

Jetpack associates stats with WordPress content IDs. A migration that changes those IDs can produce new labels or apparently missing historical entries even when URLs stay the same.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
