You can collect publicly displayed Office Depot catalog information with Python by finding products through the site’s category or search tools, retrieving each product page, and parsing the rendered page for fields such as name, item number, displayed price, rating, reviews, availability, and product URL. A third-party Crawlbase tutorial reports that a plain HTTP response may omit price and stock because some page content is rendered client-side; its demonstrated approach is to render the page in a browser-capable service, then parse the returned HTML with BeautifulSoup. Treat every result as a time-stamped observation, not a promise of checkout price or stock.
What you can collect—and what the values mean
Office Depot documents catalog browsing by category and product search by keyword, product number, manufacturer name, or UPC. It also explains that item numbers can be used in Quick Order and appear in its printed catalog (Office Depot customer service). Those are discovery paths, not evidence of a public product-data API or permission to reuse the data.
For each publicly viewable product page, a useful record can include:
- Product name and canonical product URL, to identify what was observed.
- Item number, SKU, or model, when displayed.
- Displayed price, as shown online at capture time.
- Rating and review count, if present.
- Displayed availability, including delivery or store availability when shown.
- Observed-at time and location context, especially for store stock.
Office Depot’s Terms of Use, updated May 18, 2026, says: “Prices and the availability of items are subject to change without notice.” It also notes that internet and store prices can differ, pricing or product information may contain inaccuracies, and site content is provided “AS IS” (Office Depot Terms of Use). Store stock depends on the selected location: Office Depot’s help page advises checking availability in item details and selecting another store if the chosen store has no stock (Office Depot: How do I check to see if a product is in stock in a store?).

Accordingly, use “displayed price” and “displayed availability,” not “the price” or “guaranteed in stock.” Record the page URL, capture time, and relevant store/location context so that downstream users can interpret a snapshot.
Why a plain Python request may not return price or stock
A conventional requests.get() call downloads the server’s initial HTML; it does not run the page’s JavaScript. Crawlbase’s tutorial, authored by Hassan Rehan and dated July 23, 2024 (the page indicates an update in 2026), reports that an Office Depot page can return HTTP 200 while price and availability are still absent from that initial HTML. It demonstrates rendering the page first and parsing the resulting HTML with BeautifulSoup (Crawlbase: How to Scrape Office Depot with Python: Catalog Prices and Stock).
This is an attributed account of the tutorial’s approach, not a guarantee about every current Office Depot page. Page behavior, selectors, and markup can change. A 200 response only confirms an HTTP response, not that the fields you need were present or successfully loaded. If you use the plain-request method below, inspect the returned HTML and verify that the needed values are actually present before relying on it.

Prepare Python and test one public product page
The smallest workflow is to fetch a single publicly accessible product URL and inspect its HTML. Install the parsing dependency in your project environment:

If price or availability is absent from the output, do not silently save an empty field as if it were an out-of-stock result. First determine whether the field is missing because it was not rendered, the page is a bot check or error response, the product has no displayed value, or the page’s markup has changed.
Parse rendered HTML into explicit fields
The Crawlbase tutorial’s reported pattern is two-stage: obtain browser-rendered HTML, then parse that HTML with BeautifulSoup. The exact integration depends on the rendering provider and its current API, so use its current documentation for the request parameters and response format. Keep the parser separate from the fetch layer: this makes it easier to diagnose whether missing data came from page loading or extraction.

Once you have the rendered HTML string, structure the parser around selectors you have verified against the page you are processing. Do not treat selector names from a tutorial as permanent. A maintainable parser should distinguish “not found” from an empty or zero value:

Discover products and handle search-result pagination
Use Office Depot’s public category pages or its search interface to identify relevant catalog items. Its customer-service documentation says product search accepts a keyword, product number, manufacturer name, or UPC. Prefer item identifiers when you need to distinguish similar products, and retain the source page from which each product link was found.
The Crawlbase tutorial describes processing search-result pages in a loop and stopping when no product cards remain, with a page cap and request pacing. Those are sensible defensive controls, but card selectors and pagination behavior must be checked on the current page. At a high level:

- Extract product links only from cards that match your verified current markup.
- Visit each product page through the same rendering method if the required fields are rendered client-side.
- Follow pagination only while a valid next page exists and the configured page cap has not been reached.
- Stop and inspect rather than continuing if the page becomes an error, access challenge, or unexpected layout.
Do not assume a fixed product count per page or a permanent pagination URL pattern. Keep modest request volumes, avoid unnecessary duplicate fetches, and do not attempt to bypass CAPTCHAs, bot checks, or account restrictions.
Record price and stock as snapshots
For price tracking or stock observation, store context alongside the extracted fields. A useful record format is:

}Preserve the displayed text as well as any normalized value you derive. Normalization can lose meaningful distinctions such as sale labels, per-unit notes, or delivery language. For stock, record which store was selected and when; without a location, store availability is not a comparable observation. Office Depot’s help article specifically directs customers to item details to check availability and to search another store when needed (availability help).

Office Depot’s terms say site content is provided “AS IS,” may not be accurate, complete, or current, and prices and availability can change without notice. They also state that, except in connection with shopping or placing an order, content may not be copied or otherwise reused without prior written permission (Terms of Use).
