To save an entire scrolling webpage as a PDF, open the browser’s Print command (usually Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Cmd+P on Mac), choose Save as PDF, check the preview for missing sections, and save. This is usually the best first choice for text-heavy pages because the PDF has paginated text rather than one extremely tall image. If printing leaves out content or you need a closer visual capture, use Firefox’s Save full page screenshot feature, then print that image to PDF.
How do I save an entire scrolling webpage as a PDF?
- Open the page and wait for the content you need to load. For pages that load more as you scroll, scroll through the document first.
- Open the browser’s Print command: press Ctrl+P on most Windows or Linux computers, or Cmd+P on a Mac. You can also choose Print from the browser menu.
- In the printer or destination menu, choose Save as PDF or the operating system’s PDF printer.
- Set the page range to all pages, if that option appears. Review the preview for missing sections, cut-off columns, blank pages, or images that did not load.
- Choose Save and select a file name and destination.
Mozilla’s Firefox Help describes choosing “Save to PDF” from the print menu to save the preview as a PDF. The exact labels and preview vary by browser and operating system. Some pages use print-specific styling, pop-ups, or embedded viewers, so inspect the saved PDF rather than assuming the preview captured everything. Mozilla’s Firefox printing instructions.
Why does Print to PDF cut off the rest of the page?
Print output is not always a literal copy of the screen. Websites can apply print-specific CSS that hides or rearranges content, and a fixed-height embedded viewer may print only what is visible inside its frame. Pages with wide tables, interactive layouts, or content that appears only after scrolling can also produce incomplete output. Print previews may divide content across pages in ways that split columns or repeat sticky elements.

- Columns are clipped: Try landscape orientation or a smaller scale in the print dialog, if available. Check that the preview includes the whole table.
- Images or backgrounds are missing: The page’s print styling may omit them. Use a full-page screenshot when visual fidelity matters more than selectable text.
- An embedded document is incomplete: If the page contains a document viewer, use its own download or print control when available; browser printing may capture only the visible portion.
- The preview is blank or unexpectedly short: Reload the page, wait for it to finish loading, and check whether a pop-up or consent prompt is obscuring the content.
How to capture a full scrolling page in Firefox
Firefox offers two screenshot choices: Save full page captures the document, while Save visible captures only the current viewport. Choose the full-page option when the print preview omits visual elements, the page is a web app whose layout matters, or you need a faithful image of the page. Mozilla documents the option in Take screenshots in Firefox.
- Open the webpage in Firefox and wait for it to load. Scroll through pages with lazy-loaded content before capturing.
- Open Firefox’s screenshot tool from the page actions or browser menu. The available interface can vary by Firefox version.
- Choose Save full page, not Save visible.
- Save the resulting image file.
- Open the image and print it, choosing Save as PDF as the destination.
This path turns the page into an image inside a PDF. Text in the captured page will generally not be selectable or searchable as ordinary PDF text, and a very long image can produce a large or awkwardly paginated document. Firefox Developer Tools also support whole-page screenshots for technical workflows; see the Firefox Source Docs for Developer Tools documentation.

How to save a webpage as a PDF on iPhone Safari
Apple documents a Safari workflow that saves a webpage as a PDF through Markup. Menu placement can depend on the iOS version and the page view, but the sequence is:
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Tap the page menu or Share button.
- Tap Markup. Annotate if you want to, then tap Done.
- Choose Save File To, name the PDF, and select a location.

Safari on Mac: Web Archive is not PDF
In Safari for Mac, File > Save As offers formats such as Web Archive and Page Source; these are not PDF exports. A Web Archive can include graphics and may preserve working links while their destinations remain available. Page Source saves HTML. To create a PDF, use Safari’s print dialog and choose the system PDF option instead. Apple explains the separate save formats in Save part or all of a web page in Safari on Mac.

Which method should you use?
| Method | Best for | Text and appearance | Watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Browser Print > Save as PDF | Articles, instructions, and text-heavy pages | Usually paginated text that can be selected and searched; appearance follows print styling | Print CSS, clipped wide content, missing background elements, or incomplete embedded content |
| Firefox Save full page, then print the image | Visual pages, web apps, or content omitted by print layout | Captures a visual image; text is not ordinary selectable PDF text | Very tall images can be unwieldy, and image output can increase file size |
| iPhone Safari Markup workflow | Saving a webpage to PDF directly on iPhone | Produces a PDF through the documented Markup flow | Labels or menu placement may vary with iOS and the page view |
| Full-page capture extension | A visual capture workflow when browser printing is inadequate | Some extensions offer continuous or paginated PDF output, according to their listings | Check permissions, privacy, and current availability before installing |
For example, the GoFullPage Chrome Web Store listing describes PNG, JPG, continuous PDF, paginated A4/Letter/Legal PDF, and smart page splitting. Those are vendor-listed capabilities, not independent test results; verify the current listing and permissions before relying on them.

If you need screenshots in a script or development workflow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. It can return a screenshot or PDF from one GET request. Its clean-shot steps can accept cookie or consent banners and remove more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter pop-ups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, with verdict and billing details in response headers. AI agents can use its MCP server tools, including take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
For a PDF capture, the API supports PDF output and PDF settings such as paper size, margins, landscape orientation, and page ranges. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request parameters and response details.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.pdf
Replace YOUR_API_KEY with your key and change the target URL as needed. A basic request can be made in Python or Node.js too; use the response format and options documented for PDF output:

const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });

The Python and Node.js examples above use the supplied basic image-response examples and save or retrieve a WebP response; for a PDF, request PDF output using the parameter documented by ScreenshotNeo rather than saving image bytes with a PDF extension. The PDF contains only the part I could see
Confirm you used the browser’s print command on the webpage itself rather than printing a screenshot or embedded viewer. If the full-page print preview still ends early, use Firefox’s Save full page route for a visual capture, or use the page’s own export control where available.
Images or sections are blank
Scroll through the source page first to trigger content that loads on demand, wait for it to appear, and capture again. If the web page shows consent prompts or a sign-in wall, the PDF will reflect the content available to that browser session.

The PDF is difficult to read or search
Prefer Print to PDF for text-heavy pages. A screenshot-based PDF is visually oriented and usually flattens text into an image. For print output, check the page size, orientation, and scale in the preview.
Sticky bars or headers appear repeatedly
Some pages repeat fixed or sticky interface elements in print or in a scrolling capture. Try the other capture method and inspect the output before sharing it.
A capture extension asks for broad permissions
Review its current permission request and privacy information before installation. An extension that can read page contents may access sensitive material displayed in the browser. Availability and listed features can change over time.
