Yes. Quiplash is local multiplayer, but one person can run the game and share its screen and audio over Zoom or Discord. Everyone else joins the room at Jackbox.tv with a phone, tablet, or computer browser, so guests normally do not need to buy or install the game.

What you need

  • One purchased copy of Quiplash, Quiplash XL, Quiplash 2, Quiplash 2 InterLASHional, or Quiplash 3 (or the relevant Jackbox Party Pack).
  • A host computer or console that runs that edition.
  • A stable broadband connection; a wired connection is preferable for the host.
  • Zoom, Discord, or another way to stream the game screen and audio.
  • For each guest: a browser-capable phone, tablet, or computer, plus the video-call invitation.
  • Headphones or earbuds for anyone likely to create audio feedback.

Jackbox recommends streaming from a laptop or PC where possible. The host’s shared display is the game board; each player’s browser is the controller for writing answers and voting. A second device lets the host keep the call open while the game runs.

The easiest method: Zoom or Discord screen sharing

  1. Install and launch the Quiplash edition you own.
  2. Start a Zoom meeting or join a Discord voice channel and invite the group.
  3. Start a new Quiplash game.
  4. Share the game window (or the game screen) and enable Share computer audio or Discord’s equivalent.
  5. Tell everyone to open Jackbox.tv in a browser.
  6. Have each person enter the room code shown on the shared game screen and choose a player name.
  7. Check that every name appears in the lobby, then start the game.
  8. Keep the shared game visible while players submit responses and vote.

The call carries conversation, game video, and game sound. The Jackbox.tv page handles input. If switching between the call and the game is awkward, disable full-screen mode from the game lobby; Jackbox specifically recommends this when using a video-conferencing window.

Discord

Open a voice channel, join with the group, launch Quiplash, and use Discord’s screen-share command on the game window. Enable game audio when the selected share mode offers that option. Participants can keep Jackbox.tv open on their phones or in another browser window. Anyone connected on two devices should mute the microphone and speakers on the duplicate device.

#1 Best Overall
The Jackbox Party Pack 3
  • For 1-8 players, plus a participating Audience of up to 10,000!
  • Your phones or tablets are your controllers!
  • 5 fun party games included:
  • Quiplash 2 (3-8 players)
  • Trivia Murder Party (1-8 players)

Zoom

Start the meeting before launching the game. Share only the Quiplash window when practical, select computer sound, and use gallery or speaker view for conversation. Participants can mute themselves during game audio and unmute when discussing answers.

How players join with the room code

  1. Open Jackbox.tv, not a game-purchase page.
  2. Enter the four-letter room code currently displayed by the host.
  3. Enter a name and wait for the lobby.

The video-call invitation and the Jackbox room code are separate: guests need both. A code changes if the host restarts or begins a different session, so players must use the code currently visible on the shared screen.

Steam Remote Play Together

Steam Remote Play Together is an alternative for the Steam edition, particularly when everyone is comfortable using Steam-supported devices. Jackbox says one owner can invite the others; the game’s own 3–8-player limit and connection quality still apply, so Steam’s feature does not guarantee a fixed number of participants.

  1. Launch the Steam version of Quiplash or the relevant Party Pack.
  2. Open the Steam Overlay with Shift+Tab.
  3. Select a friend from the friends list and choose Remote Play Together.
  4. Have the friend accept the invitation.
  5. Confirm that the streamed game is visible and responsive.

Steam’s instructions recommend a wired network for the best stream: Remote Play Together manual. This approach avoids arranging a separate call, but it is less familiar to many families, tied to the Steam edition and compatible devices, and may provide less convenient face-to-face conversation than Zoom or Discord.

How many people can play?

Most listed editions support 3–8 active players. That is the number of people who submit answers in the writing rounds. Audience members can watch, vote, and influence results without taking one of those eight player slots; the official pages list audience capacity of up to 10,000 for the original game, Quiplash XL, Quiplash 2, and Quiplash 3. “Audience capacity” therefore does not mean 10,000 answer writers.

Troubleshooting remote Quiplash

Problem Fix
Players cannot see the game Confirm the correct window is shared. Switch from exclusive full-screen to windowed mode or disable full-screen mode in the lobby. For a console, use its supported sharing feature or a camera pointed at the television; a stream can be a fallback but may add delay.
No game audio Stop and restart screen sharing with computer audio enabled. Check that the host shared the game window rather than an unrelated browser tab, lower game volume if it overwhelms voices, and remove duplicate audio sources.
Echo or feedback Use one call device per person, mute microphones and speakers on secondary devices, and switch to headphones or earbuds.
The room code fails Verify the player is on Jackbox.tv, refresh and enter the current code, and confirm the host did not restart the session and the lobby is not full.
Video or input feels delayed Use wired internet for the host, share only the game window, reduce call quality, close bandwidth-heavy applications, and adjust Steam streaming settings when using Remote Play Together.
A player cannot use Steam Use ordinary Zoom or Discord screen sharing instead; guests generally only need a browser.

A reliable setup for game night

  • Run the game on a computer when possible and use phones as controllers.
  • Connect the host by Ethernet if available.
  • Keep the game window visible and share its audio explicitly.
  • Use a second host device for the call and wear headphones.
  • Test the call, screen, sound, and Jackbox.tv link five minutes early.
  • For more than eight people, assign eight active players and let the rest join as the audience.

For product context, the official listings are standalone Quiplash, Quiplash 2 InterLASHional, The Jackbox Party Pack 3, and The Jackbox Party Starter. Prices and platform availability vary by storefront, territory, and sale period.
