You can update the payment method or billing address for an eligible Malwarebytes subscription from your account. Sign in, select the subscription, open Billing & payment, then choose Update payment method or Update billing address. Card expiration dates must use the MM/YYYY format.
This process does not apply to subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store; those are managed through the relevant marketplace.
Quick path
- Sign in at the official Malwarebytes account portal.
- Select the subscription you want to change.
- Click Billing & payment.
- Choose Update payment method or Update billing address.
Before you begin
First identify where you bought the subscription. The Malwarebytes account portal is intended for eligible subscriptions purchased through the Malwarebytes Online Store. If the charge came through Apple or Google, the store—not Malwarebytes’ account portal—controls payment details and subscription billing.
Have the new payment details available, and make sure you are signed in with the email address linked to the relevant Malwarebytes subscription. If your account lists multiple subscriptions, select the correct one before making a change.

Update your payment method
- Open the Malwarebytes account portal and sign in.
- Locate the subscription that needs a new card or payment method.
- Select Billing & payment.
- Click Update payment method.
- Enter the requested payment information.
- Enter the card expiration date as MM/YYYY, such as 08/2027.
- Submit the change, then check the billing area to confirm that the updated method is displayed.
The exact payment options shown can vary by product, subscription, purchase channel, and geography. Malwarebytes documents PayPal as a supported option for purchasing a subscription, but this does not establish that switching every existing subscription to PayPal is available in every region.
Update your billing address
- Sign in to your Malwarebytes account.
- Select the relevant subscription.
- Open Billing & payment.
- Choose Update billing address.
- Enter the new address and select Save.
Use an address that matches the records held by your payment provider where applicable. Malwarebytes documents the ability to edit the billing address, but the billing address is separate from your account email address and device information.
Updating payment details does not cancel auto-renewal
Replacing an expired card helps future renewal attempts use the new details; it does not turn off recurring billing. If your goal is to prevent a future charge, manage auto-renewal separately.

For subscriptions purchased through the Malwarebytes Online Store, Malwarebytes says auto-renewal is enabled by default. Annual subscribers receive a renewal reminder 30 days before renewal, including the amount expected to be charged. To turn off renewal on Windows or Mac:
- Open the payment page from your Malwarebytes account.
- Select Turn auto-renewal off.
- Choose a cancellation reason.
- Select Send.
- Check for the confirmation email.
Turning off auto-renewal stops the next renewal but does not normally end a Windows or Mac subscription immediately; Malwarebytes says it remains active until its expiration date. See the official auto-renewal instructions for current details.

- Apple App Store: manage the subscription and payment through your Apple ID and App Store settings.
- Google Play Store: manage the subscription and payment through Google Play and its payment settings.
If you are unsure, search your original receipt or renewal message. The billing descriptor may indicate Malwarebytes, Apple, Google, PayPal, or another billing partner. If the purchase channel remains unclear, contact official Malwarebytes Support.
If the update fails
- Check the purchase channel: Apple and Google subscriptions must be managed in their respective stores.
- Select the right subscription: accounts with multiple subscriptions may show separate billing records.
- Correct the date format: enter card expiration as MM/YYYY, not another format.
- Check the billing address: a mismatch with the payment provider’s records may prevent authorization.
- Refresh the session: sign out and back in, try a current browser, or temporarily disable browser extensions.
- Recover account access: use Malwarebytes’ account-login or identity-verification help if you cannot sign in.
- Contact Support: Malwarebytes Support handles billing updates, automatic-renewal questions, refund requests, and unrecognized charges.
If you were already charged
Updating payment information generally addresses future billing or renewal attempts. It does not automatically reverse a charge that has already been processed. For a refund request, unrecognized charge, recurring-payment question, or billing problem, use the official Malwarebytes subscription and payment support page. For Apple or Google purchases, start with the marketplace that processed the transaction.

Malwarebytes has warned about fake renewal notices that imitate the company. Do not call a phone number, enter credentials, or provide card details from an unsolicited email or pop-up. Instead, navigate directly to Malwarebytes.com or type the official account address into your browser and manage billing there. You can also read Malwarebytes’ renewal-scam warning.

Related account tasks
Payment updates are separate from other account actions. Malwarebytes provides separate guidance for managing subscriptions, auto-renewal, purchase history, and invoice downloads through its Account and Billing help section.
Changing payment information also does not add, remove, or deactivate devices, and the reviewed Malwarebytes instructions document updating a payment method—not a separate control for deleting one.
