Samsung’s current Android beta is the One UI 9 beta, based on Android 17. It launched for the Galaxy S26 series in select countries, with enrollment handled in the Samsung Members app. Whether you can join today depends on your exact model and regional variant, carrier, software version, Samsung Account region, and whether Samsung has left registration open.
Joining and installing are separate steps: you register in Samsung Members, then download the beta through Settings → Software update → Download and install. Back up first, because beta software can break apps or require a reset to return to stable software.
Is Samsung’s Android beta open right now?
As of August 18, 2026, the active generation is One UI 9 beta, Samsung’s interface and software layer built on Android 17. Samsung announced the program on May 12, 2026, initially for the Galaxy S26 series in Germany, India, South Korea, Poland, the United Kingdom and the United States. This is not Google’s Pixel-oriented Android Beta Program. Android 17 is the underlying platform; One UI 9 is Samsung’s customized release; Samsung Members is the registration and feedback channel; and Software update is where the enrolled build is installed.

Do not assume that Galaxy S25, S24, Fold, Flip or tablet models qualify. Samsung’s earlier One UI 8.5 beta expansion was a different program and is not evidence of One UI 9 support; its announcement is at Samsung Newsroom US.
Prepare before enrolling
- Confirm the phone and variant: Check the model number and carrier/CSC configuration, not just the retail name.
- Update Samsung Members: Install it from the Galaxy Store or Google Play, then sign in with the Samsung Account associated with the phone.
- Back up important information: Use Smart Switch and your normal cloud services, then verify that photos, contacts, messages, authenticator codes, password-manager access and two-factor recovery methods are available.
- Understand backup limits: Samsung says Smart Switch excludes some private app data and account-synced material. Details are documented at Samsung Support; treat the backup as essential but not a perfect image of every app.
- Make room and power: Charge substantially, use reliable Wi-Fi and keep enough free storage for the download and installation.
- Assess the device’s role: A beta is a poor choice for your only work, banking, payment, medical, travel or authentication phone. Have another device or a recovery plan if those services are critical.
How to join through Samsung Members
- Open Samsung Members on the eligible Galaxy phone and sign in.
- On the Home or Discover page, find a banner, notice or tile labeled One UI Beta Program (wording can vary by app version and market).
- Open the notice, read the terms and disclosures, and choose the registration or enrollment option.
- Submit the Registration of One UI Beta Program form.
- Wait for Samsung to process the enrollment. Registration does not guarantee an immediate download; Samsung says delivery may be staged rather than simultaneous for every registered user. The support flow is described at Samsung Members support.
- After enrollment is confirmed, open Settings → Software update → Download and install.
- Review the build details, confirm your backup and install only when the phone can tolerate downtime and beta problems.
Installing Samsung Members or signing in to a Samsung Account alone does not enroll you. The update should arrive through the phone’s ordinary update screen after Samsung enables it for your account and device.

If the beta tile or update is missing
Work through these checks in order:
- Update Samsung Members through the Galaxy Store or Google Play.
- Confirm you are using the intended Samsung Account, then sign out and back in.
- Restart the phone and check both the Members Home and Discover/community areas.
- Verify the phone’s model, carrier/CSC configuration and required official baseline software.
- Check Samsung’s regional newsroom or Members notices for a closure or pause.
- If you registered, wait and check Settings → Software update → Download and install again later; enrollment and delivery can be separate.
- Contact Samsung support if Members shows you as enrolled but no update arrives after a reasonable interval.
Likely explanations include an unsupported regional or carrier variant, an imported phone, an outdated app, an unsupported account region, closed enrollment or a staged rollout. A VPN, CSC change, sideloaded firmware or unofficial APK is not a reliable fix and can create update, data, security or support problems.
What to expect from beta software
Samsung describes One UI 9 as adding creative tools, customization, accessibility improvements and stronger protection against potentially risky applications. Features and languages can vary by country, device and settings, and beta capabilities are not promises of flawless performance.
- Crashes, battery drain, heat, connectivity failures and unfinished features are possible.
- Banking, payment, enterprise-management, medical, DRM and authentication apps may fail their security checks.
- Keep an alternative payment method and a way to authenticate important accounts.
- Report problems in Samsung Members’ beta feedback or error-reporting tools rather than only in public forums.
How to write a useful bug report
Include the exact symptom, reproducible steps, approximate failure time, device model, software build, whether a restart changes it, and relevant screenshots or recordings. Attach logs when Samsung requests them, but never include passwords, payment details, private messages or sensitive documents.

How to leave the beta safely
Withdraw before installing the beta
If you registered but have not installed beta software, use Samsung Members → Settings → One UI Beta Program status → Withdraw. You can generally remain on the current stable software. Samsung community guidance documents this path at Samsung Community.
Remove beta software after installation
Withdrawal does not necessarily uninstall an already-installed build. Removing it generally requires a PC rollback through Smart Switch, and the process can reset the phone and erase data created during testing.
- Back up the beta phone and verify that the backup contains what you need.
- Withdraw from the beta in Samsung Members.
- Install or open Smart Switch on a compatible computer and connect the phone with a USB cable.
- Choose the offered Rollback or Downgrade option, if available.
- Read every warning and allow the phone to reset and reinstall approved stable software.
- Restore data only after confirming that the phone is running the intended stable build.
The exact Smart Switch controls and downgrade availability can change with Samsung’s support state, device model and build. Do not assume rollback is available indefinitely or that every app’s private data will return.

Beta enrollment is tied to eligible hardware, region, carrier and program status—not to a premium membership. Buying a phone solely for beta access is risky because registration can close and the software may be unstable. Treat each One UI announcement as a separate program; prior enrollment does not automatically guarantee access to future versions.
Frequently asked questions
Can I join without a Galaxy S26?
For One UI 9, Samsung’s launch announcement names the Galaxy S26 series. Do not infer support for other Galaxy phones or tablets unless Samsung publishes a specific expansion and your Members app shows the program.

No official guidance supports that. A VPN does not change the phone’s underlying model, carrier or CSC eligibility and may introduce additional service complications.

Does joining cost money?
Samsung Members enrollment is presented as an official software-program registration, not a paid subscription. You still need compatible hardware and may need a computer and cable if rollback becomes necessary.
Will my banking or payment apps work?
There is no universal guarantee. Beta builds can affect app security checks, DRM, enterprise policies and payment services, so check the apps you depend on and keep alternatives.
Will the eventual stable release preserve everything?
Do not rely on that assumption. Back up before installation and before any rollback; Samsung’s Smart Switch documentation lists data categories that may not be copied.
