On a Windows 10 or Windows 11 desktop or laptop, install the official Prime Video for Windows app from the Microsoft Store. The app download is free, but watching a title still requires the appropriate Amazon entitlement—such as Prime membership, a standalone Prime Video plan where offered, a rental, purchase, or channel subscription.
If you use macOS, ChromeOS, Linux, or a Windows PC without Microsoft Store access, watch at Prime Video in a supported browser instead.
Before you begin
- A current Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation. Amazon lists both versions for the Windows app.
- An internet connection and access to Microsoft Store.
- An Amazon account. The account must have access to the title you want to watch.
Amazon does not publish a universal processor, memory, or graphics minimum for the current Windows listing, so do not rely on unofficial hardware requirements.

How to install Prime Video on Windows
- Select Start, type Microsoft Store, and open it.
- Use the Store search box to search for Prime Video for Windows.
- Open the listing published for Prime Video/Amazon. Confirm that it is the official listing, not a similarly named third-party program.
- Select the installation button, usually labeled Get or Install. The exact label can vary with Windows and Store state.
- Wait for the download and installation to finish, then select Open.
The official listing is Prime Video for Windows in Microsoft Store. Avoid random “Prime Video” EXE files, APKs, emulators, or software-download sites.

Sign in and start watching
- Choose the app’s sign-in option.
- Enter the email address or mobile number and password for your Amazon account.
- Complete two-step verification or another security check if prompted.
- If Amazon shows a QR code, device-registration code, or code-entry page, follow the instructions displayed in the app. Amazon documents several possible registration flows rather than one universal screen.
- Choose a title available to your account and region and start playback.
Installing the app does not sign you in automatically or remove geographic, licensing, or subscription restrictions.
Can you watch Prime Video without installing the app?
Yes. On a computer, Amazon supports current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari, and Opera:

- Open one of those browsers.
- Go to Prime Video.
- Sign in and select a title.
The browser is the practical choice when Microsoft Store is blocked, the PC is managed by a school or employer, storage is limited, or you simply do not want another installed program. Amazon specifies browser playback up to HD with stereo sound; actual quality and features can vary by title, operating system, browser, account, and region.

The Windows Store installer is not a Mac, Chromebook, or Linux installer. Use a supported browser on those platforms. Amazon lists computer browser support across Windows, macOS, ChromeOS, and Linux, and says playback on operating systems other than Windows or macOS is limited to standard definition.

Is the Prime Video app free?
The Microsoft Store listing is free to download and install. That does not make the catalog free. Access to a particular program can come from an Amazon Prime membership, a standalone Prime Video plan where available, a rental or purchase, or an Amazon channel subscription. Catalog rights and plans vary by country and account; Amazon’s Prime page describes entertainment benefits but does not make every title universally included.
Fix common installation problems
The app does not appear in Microsoft Store
- Search the exact name Prime Video for Windows.
- Open the official listing directly: Microsoft Store.
- Check your Windows version under Settings → System → About. The supported app versions listed by Amazon are Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- Run Windows Update, sign in to Microsoft Store if requested, restart the Store, and restart the PC.
- If the listing remains unavailable, use the browser version. Store visibility can vary by region, account, device, or temporary service problems.
The download or installation is stuck
- Confirm that the PC is online and has free storage.
- Pause and resume the Store download.
- Check whether another Store download is blocking the queue.
- Restart Microsoft Store and Windows, then install pending Windows updates.
- Use Prime Video in a browser while you resolve the Store issue.
The app opens but playback fails
- Verify that you are using the intended Amazon account.
- Try another title to distinguish an account-wide problem from a title-specific one.
- Check the connection, close and reopen the app, and restart the PC.
- Update Windows and the app, then test a current supported browser.
- Temporarily check whether a VPN, proxy, firewall, antivirus, or content filter is interfering. Disabling one may help diagnose playback; it does not bypass regional restrictions or create entitlement.
- Sign out and back in. Contact Amazon support if the problem is limited to your account or access rights.
Sign-in fails
Recheck the Amazon marketplace and account, password, two-step verification, and any saved autofill credentials. A missing entitlement, device-registration limit, security review, or temporary Amazon outage can also prevent login. Use Amazon’s official account-help flow rather than downloading a replacement installer.
