For SlickGrid Universal, the supported way to create a PDF with jsPDF is to install @slickgrid-universal/pdf-export, create a PdfExportService, register it in the grid’s externalResources, enable PDF export, and call exportToPdf. The package can use jspdf-autotable for a bordered, table-style layout; without it, the documented fallback is a simpler text layout.
This applies to SlickGrid Universal. The base 6pac SlickGrid project is a JavaScript grid and does not, by itself, provide this specific export service. Its project page directs framework users to SlickGrid Universal. Check the package version and your framework integration before treating the example below as drop-in code.
Install the PDF dependencies
Install the dedicated export package in the application that owns your SlickGrid Universal instance:
npm install @slickgrid-universal/pdf-exportjsPDF is the PDF-generation library used by the service. For richer table rendering, also install AutoTable:

npm install jspdf-autotableThe package README identifies jspdf-autotable as optional. When it is available and registered, the service can render an HTML-style table with borders, padding and column styles. Without it, the documented fallback is a basic text-oriented layout.
Register jsPDF and the SlickGrid export service
Register AutoTable once during application startup, then create the export service and attach it to the grid:

};The important pieces are not interchangeable: externalResources gives the grid access to the service, while enablePdfExport: true enables the PDF export command in the Grid Menu. Create the service in the same lifecycle where your grid is initialized, and follow your framework’s normal registration and teardown conventions.
Export the grid programmatically
Once the grid and service are initialized, call exportToPdf. You can provide export-specific values that override the defaults in pdfExportOptions:

The exact imports, lifecycle hooks and option typings can vary with the SlickGrid Universal release. The package documentation describes this pattern, but it is not a guarantee that one snippet fits every framework wrapper or version.
Choose page, file and document settings
The documented options let you control the basic PDF document and table presentation. Use the settings that match your output rather than relying on a browser print dialog.

The README also advertises grouped data, font-size controls, formatters, HTML-entity decoding, sanitization, per-column alignment, grouped column headers, header and alternate-row colors, and PDF metadata. Treat those as capabilities of the documented package, not as a promise that every release exposes identical option names. Inspect the type definitions and README for the version installed in your project.

Landscape versus portrait
Portrait is appropriate for a narrow report or a small number of columns. Landscape gives a wide grid more horizontal room and reduces wrapping. It does not remove columns automatically; very wide data can still require smaller fonts, fewer exported columns or a larger paper size.
Page-size choices
A4, Letter and Legal are documented page-size choices. Select the size expected by your recipients or filing system. A page-size value accepted by one package version should still be checked against that version’s TypeScript definitions.
Headers, formatters and grouped columns
Use the package’s documented formatter and grouping options when the PDF must resemble the grid’s presentation. Sanitization and HTML-entity decoding matter when cell values contain markup or encoded characters. Validate the resulting PDF with representative data, especially if a formatter emits HTML.
Use AutoTable when a real table matters
With jspdf-autotable installed and applyPlugin(jsPDF) executed once, the service can use AutoTable’s table rendering. The documented behavior includes borders, padding and per-column styles. This generally produces a more legible report than the text fallback for headers and rows.

That can be adequate for a quick data extract; it is less suitable when aligned columns, alternating rows or grouped headers are central to the report.
Grid Menu versus a custom button
Setting enablePdfExport enables the PDF command in the Grid Menu. That is useful when users should discover export alongside the grid’s other commands. A custom button can call exportToPdf directly and supply a different filename, orientation or other per-export values.
Keep one service instance associated with the grid. Registering multiple instances or calling export before the grid’s external resources are initialized can produce missing-service or lifecycle errors.
Custom jsPDF code or the dedicated service?

Troubleshoot common failures
The Grid Menu has no PDF command
Confirm that enablePdfExport: true is set on the options actually passed to the grid. Also verify that the PdfExportService instance is present in externalResources before the grid initializes.
AutoTable styles are missing
Check that jspdf-autotable is installed and that applyPlugin(jsPDF) runs once before exporting. If the plugin is absent, the package’s documented text fallback is expected.
Import or type errors after an upgrade
Compare your imports and option names with the README and type definitions for the installed release. Do not assume an example from another SlickGrid Universal version has identical lifecycle hooks or interfaces.
The PDF is unreadable or columns overlap
Try landscape orientation, remove nonessential columns, select a larger supported paper size, or adjust the package’s documented font and alignment settings. Test with the longest real headers and cell values rather than a small sample.

Review the formatter, HTML-entity decoding and sanitization settings. Decide whether the cell should be rendered as formatted content or exported as plain text, then verify the result with representative values.
Export fails before the grid is ready
Move the export call behind the grid’s ready event or equivalent framework lifecycle point. The service needs an initialized grid and its registered resources before it can read the data.
Validate the PDF before shipping it
- Export zero-row, one-row and multi-page datasets.
- Include long headers, long cell values, Unicode characters and encoded HTML entities.
- Check grouped rows and grouped column headers if your grid uses them.
- Open the file in more than one PDF viewer and inspect page breaks, clipping and metadata.
- Verify that the downloaded filename and document title meet your users’ naming requirements.
- Pin and review SlickGrid Universal, jsPDF and AutoTable versions together when upgrading.
These checks are especially important because the package documentation describes capabilities, while exact rendering can depend on your release, framework wrapper, data and formatter configuration.
