Build the table from your current application data, escape every cell value, assemble a complete HTML document, then pass that string to generatePDF. The package converts HTML strings to PDFs; its documentation does not describe a special dynamic-table API or guarantee table pagination behavior. Treat the HTML and CSS as your responsibility, and validate the resulting PDF on both iOS and Android.
How dynamic HTML tables become PDFs
react-native-html-to-pdf takes an HTML string in the html option and exposes an asynchronous generatePDF(options) call. To make a table dynamic, your app turns its data into table rows before calling the package. The package receives the finished document, not a data array or a table schema.
- Collect and validate the rows to include in the report.
- Escape values that will be inserted into HTML, then map rows to
<tr>and<td>markup. - Wrap the rows in a complete HTML document with a table header and styling.
- Call
generatePDFwith the HTML string and the output options appropriate to the platform. - Inspect the created file in the app and test the rendered output on the devices and operating systems you support.
The package README demonstrates passing a heading in an HTML string, but does not provide a dedicated table builder. The table-generation code below is an implementation pattern using that documented string input; it is not a maintainer-provided or independently tested example.

This JavaScript example makes a report containing a name, quantity, and total for each row. It uses an escaping function so values such as <, &, and quotation marks are treated as text rather than HTML markup.

Build the table from the data snapshot you actually want in the report. If the source data can change while a report is being prepared, take or create a stable snapshot before mapping it to HTML. Keep formatting decisions—such as how quantities and totals are displayed—in the data-preparation layer or a dedicated formatter rather than mixing them with untrusted markup.
Escape every inserted value, including values that appear harmless today. Without escaping, a value containing HTML-significant characters can break the document structure or be interpreted as markup. Escaping is not a substitute for validating the data: validate expected types and formats before building the document.
Handle an empty result deliberately
An empty array produces an empty table body. That may be acceptable, but a report is often clearer if it explicitly says that there are no records. Add that message in your own HTML generation logic; the package documentation does not describe a special empty-table behavior.

Call generatePDF with the HTML string
After creating the HTML, pass it through the html option. The README lists these general options:

These are documented option categories, not a guarantee that every option has identical behavior on both operating systems. Check the typings and documentation for the version installed in your app before relying on a setting. In particular, treat directory handling and platform-specific options as platform-dependent.
Make long tables readable across pages
A table that fits on one page is simpler than one that spans pages. A real report should be tested with representative content: long cell text, many rows, wide columns, and a row near a page boundary. Those cases expose problems that a short sample table will not.

The sample CSS includes thead { display: table-header-group; } and tr { page-break-inside: avoid; }. These are rendering hints, not guarantees from the package documentation. The README does not establish whether headers repeat on later pages, whether a row can split, or whether those CSS declarations behave the same on iOS and Android. Do not promise repeated headers or unbroken rows in a production report until you have verified the target package version and operating systems.

- For long text, check whether cells wrap as expected and whether the row remains legible.
- For wide tables, verify that columns are not clipped or reduced until the text becomes unreadable.
- For multi-page output, inspect where rows break and whether column headings appear where readers need them.
- For large reports, test realistic row counts rather than inferring capacity from a small demonstration.
Test on the platforms you ship
The available package documentation does not promise equivalent table rendering on iOS and Android, nor does it provide a React Native compatibility matrix. Test on the actual platform and package versions used by your app. A useful test set includes an empty table, a normal populated table, long text, a wide table, a large row count, and content that crosses a page boundary. Also verify the saved file’s location and the app’s sharing or viewing flow.
The npm listing reports version 1.3.0 as current at the time that listing was captured, but its relative publication-age description becomes stale. Confirm the current registry release and compatibility with your React Native version when implementing; do not treat that listing as a compatibility guarantee.

Troubleshoot common table-to-PDF problems
- Values appear as markup or damage the table. Escape every inserted value and validate its type before interpolation. Do not concatenate raw user-controlled HTML into the document.
- The table body is empty. Check that the array passed to the builder contains the expected records and that each row uses the property names the template reads. Decide whether an empty-state message should be shown.
- A row is cut at a page break. The documented package material does not promise row-splitting behavior. Try the CSS hint in the example, then inspect actual output on each target platform; adjust the report design if the renderer still breaks rows undesirably.
- Column headings do not repeat. The README does not promise repeated table headers. The
table-header-groupdeclaration is only a hint; verify the output rather than assuming it works. - Content is clipped or crowded. Revisit page width, table width, padding, font size, and column content. Test long values and wide tables with the dimensions and platform settings used in production.
- The PDF is saved somewhere unexpected. Check the configured directory and platform-specific restrictions. In particular, iOS accepts only
Documentsas a custom directory value according to the README. - An option has no effect or behaves differently across platforms. Confirm that the option is documented for the platform, then check the installed version’s typings and behavior. Do not assume an iOS-only setting applies on Android.
- The app’s React Native version may not be supported. The package listing does not supply a React Native compatibility matrix. Verify compatibility for the exact versions in your app before adopting or upgrading the package.
When a table-oriented library or service may fit better
If the main challenge is creating structured tables rather than producing a PDF from arbitrary HTML, jsPDF-AutoTable is worth evaluating: its documentation describes input from HTML table markup or JavaScript table data. That fact alone does not establish that it integrates directly with React Native, so compare platform support and output constraints before switching.
Adobe documents PDF Services API support for HTML-to-PDF conversion, including dynamic HTML. That makes it a service category to assess if a hosted conversion workflow fits your requirements. The available information does not establish direct integration with this React Native package or suitability for a particular app. Compare privacy, deployment, and cost requirements before choosing a service.
