If Tango is crashing, failing to load, refusing a sign-in, or missing calls and messages on Android, start with your connection and work through the least disruptive fixes first. This guide covers the Tango social, live-streaming and messaging service at tango.me—not Tango.ai’s workplace documentation product or the separate Tango Tango communications app.
Start with the symptom

These are possibilities, not diagnoses. The exact error and when it occurs matter.
Try these low-risk fixes first
- Check the connection. Open a couple of unrelated websites and try another messaging or video app. Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data; temporarily turn off airplane mode. If you use a VPN, private DNS, ad blocker, workplace/school filter, or security app, test once without it. Treat that as a diagnostic check, not a recommendation to leave protections off. Tango also recommends trying a different Wi-Fi network or switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data for connection-related trouble (Tango’s calls and messages troubleshooting).
- Restart your phone. A restart can clear a temporary Android or app state without deleting Tango data.
- Update Tango and Android. In Google Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Manage apps & device, and install an available Tango update. Check Settings → System → System update (or your phone maker’s equivalent) for Android updates, then restart if updates were installed. Google notes that menu names vary by device and Android version; consult its Android app troubleshooting steps if the labels differ.
- Force-stop Tango and reopen it. Go to Settings → Apps (or Apps & notifications → See all apps) → Tango → Force stop, confirm, and launch Tango again. This can clear a stuck app process. Do not leave it force-stopped if you expect incoming calls or messages. Tango recommends force-closing for some registration and calling problems (registration help).
- Check date and time. If sign-in or verification behaves unexpectedly, enable automatic date and time in Android’s date/time settings. Incorrect device time can interfere with app connections; Google includes this among its troubleshooting checks.
If calls or notifications are missing
Check these in order; notification failures are often caused by background restrictions rather than a broken account.

- In Tango, confirm the other person is not blocked.
- Open Settings → Apps → Tango → Notifications. Enable notifications and review relevant categories, sound, vibration, and lock-screen display. Labels and category options vary.
- Open Settings → Apps → Tango → Permissions. Allow the call-related permissions Tango requests for the feature you use. Permission names and requirements can vary by Android and app version.
- Check Settings → Apps → Tango → Battery or App battery usage. Allow background use, or temporarily choose Unrestricted / the least restrictive option available to test. This may use more battery.
- In Tango’s app settings, check Mobile data & Wi-Fi and allow background data if the option exists. Temporarily turn off Data Saver to test.
- Check Do Not Disturb, silent mode, and any manufacturer gaming or battery mode that may suppress alerts. Do not force-stop Tango after testing.
Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Huawei and other manufacturers may add controls such as auto-start, sleeping apps, or background activity. Look for Tango in those controls if Android’s standard settings do not help. Tango specifically identifies blocked contacts, notification and call permissions, background activity, force-closed state, and unstable connections as relevant causes (official Tango guidance).

If the camera, microphone, or video is broken
- Test the camera and microphone in Android’s Camera app or another trusted calling app. If they fail there too, the issue may be outside Tango.
- Check Settings → Apps → Tango → Permissions and allow camera or microphone access for the feature you are using.
- Check Android-wide controls under Settings → Privacy → Permission manager, and confirm Camera access and Microphone access are enabled. Some versions or manufacturers place these controls elsewhere. Android may also revoke permissions for apps you have not used recently.
- Close other apps that could be using the camera or microphone. Disconnect a Bluetooth headset temporarily if call audio is routed incorrectly.
- Restart after changing permissions. If those devices work in other apps but not Tango, report the Tango-specific failure rather than repeatedly resetting the phone.
Clear cache before clearing app data
Cache is temporary app data, so clearing it is a lower-risk step than resetting the app. Go to Settings → Apps → Tango → Storage & cache (the label may vary), tap Clear cache, reopen Tango, and test the failing feature.
If that does not help, pause before choosing Clear storage or Clear data. This can sign you out and erase information stored locally by the app. First make sure you know the sign-in method and credentials used for this account; do not assume your account or local content will be recoverable simply because you clear data. Google cautions that clearing app data can remove data saved in the app (Google’s troubleshooting guidance).

Return to Settings → Apps → Tango → Storage & cache, then choose Clear storage or Clear data only if you are ready to sign in again. The names and exact path vary by phone.

Separate login and registration problems from crashes
- Use the original sign-in method. If you created the account through a supported sign-in provider, use that option rather than assuming you set a separate Tango password.
- Check the email or phone number. Look for typos, and check spam or junk folders for verification messages. A delayed or missing message does not by itself prove the account is blocked.
- Test another network and force-stop/reopen. Tango’s registration troubleshooting recommends testing Wi-Fi and mobile data, force-closing, and reinstalling if registration still fails.
- Take a blocked-device message seriously. Tango lists this separately from ordinary registration trouble. Clearing cache or reinstalling is not guaranteed to remove an account or device restriction.
- Avoid creating a second account immediately. It can complicate recovery. Contact Tango if the original account remains inaccessible.
Be careful with help pages for similarly named services. For example, Tango.ai’s article about verification email and Google sign-in belongs to Tango.ai’s service; do not assume its account advice applies to the tango.me consumer app unless Tango confirms that the accounts and process are the same.

If Tango will not install or update
- Check available phone storage and try a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- Restart the phone and try the Play Store update or install again. If other apps also will not update, troubleshoot the Play Store or device rather than assuming Tango is the cause.
- Open Tango’s listing in Google Play and read any availability or compatibility message shown for your device and region.
- Use Google Play or a download source linked by the verified consumer service. Avoid unofficial APK sites: an APK may be outdated or modified, and its authenticity is harder to establish.
Availability and device support can vary. Do not infer that Tango has shut down just because its listing is not visible on one device or in one region.

Reinstalling can replace damaged app files, but it may not fix an account restriction, device compatibility issue, network filter, or service-side problem. It can also remove local app data. Before uninstalling, confirm you can access the account using its original login method and have noted any important account details.

- Uninstall Tango using Android’s app settings or its Google Play listing.
- Restart the phone.
- Reinstall from the official Google Play listing for the tango.me consumer app, if available for your device and region.
- Grant only the permissions needed for the features you use, sign in with the original method, and test on a stable connection.
Verify the product name and developer before installing: search results can include unrelated Tango-branded products.
Could Tango itself be having a problem?
A Tango-side issue becomes more plausible when other apps and websites work, Tango fails on more than one network, or other users of the same consumer service report the same problem. Check Tango’s own support channels for notices or guidance. A status page for another Tango product is not proof of an outage in the tango.me app; third-party outage reports can also be incomplete or refer to a different service. If only one Wi-Fi network fails, investigate its router, captive portal, DNS, or workplace/school restrictions before resetting the phone.

When to contact Tango support
Contact Tango if the same error persists after the relevant network, update, permission, cache, and (if safe) reinstall checks; if the device is reported as blocked; if verification never arrives; if the account appears suspended or inaccessible; or if Tango alone fails while the rest of the phone works.
Include the Tango username or account email, device make and model, Android version, Tango app version if visible, exact error text, approximate date and time, whether you were on Wi-Fi or mobile data, whether another network changes the result, and the steps you already tried. Attach a screenshot or screen recording if useful, but redact private conversations and personal details. Never send your password, one-time verification code, or payment details.
