If an HTML link such as <a href="#page1"> stops working after conversion, repair the navigation in the generated PDF. In Aspose.PDF for .NET, create a LocalHyperlink, set its TargetPageNumber, and assign it to the clickable TextFragment.Hyperlink. This is a page-level workaround; the documented example does not map an HTML id to an exact position within a page.
What is actually failing?
In HTML, a fragment URL combines the document URL and an element identifier. For example, <a href="#page1">Section 1</a> should scroll to <div id="page1">. A PDF viewer does not have to preserve that browser-style fragment behavior during conversion. The reported Aspose case involved a table of contents on an earlier page linking to a section several pages later; the resulting PDF link did not navigate.
An Aspose forum response dated February 1, 2018 said the problem was reproduced and logged as PDFNET-44113. That report does not establish whether the ticket is resolved or how current releases behave, so check your exact Aspose package version before assuming the result is a product defect or a fix.

If your code uses Aspose.HTML for .NET, do not paste an Aspose.PDF repair blindly. First confirm which assembly and conversion API are in use, then look for the equivalent link annotation or post-processing API in that product’s documentation.
Repair a link in Aspose.PDF for .NET
1. Convert the source HTML
The documented Aspose.PDF flow starts with HtmlLoadOptions, loads the HTML into an Aspose.Pdf.Document, and saves a PDF. A minimal conversion looks like this:

2. Find the destination page
LocalHyperlink.TargetPageNumber takes a page number, not an HTML id. After conversion, determine which PDF page contains the destination section. Page numbering is one-based in the documented pattern, so a destination on the seventh page uses 7.
- Render or inspect the PDF and count pages using the same inputs and layout options used in production.
- Keep the page mapping deterministic when headers, footers, fonts, images, or “render all HTML content to one PDF page” options can change pagination.
- If a heading moves between releases or input variants, maintain a mapping based on your own document structure instead of hard-coding a number that can drift.
3. Attach a local hyperlink to the clickable text
The official pattern creates a TextFragment, creates a LocalHyperlink, assigns the destination page, and sets the hyperlink on the text:

4. Save and verify in the viewers your readers use
Open the saved PDF and activate every repaired link. Check at least the desktop and browser-based viewers that matter to your audience. Confirm that the link reaches the intended page, that the clickable area is where readers expect it, and that saving, printing, or post-processing the PDF has not removed annotations. The cited material documents the API pattern, not a test result for your source file or a particular current release.

The documented LocalHyperlink example is explicitly page-targeted. It establishes a destination page, but it does not show a direct mapping from id="page1" to a precise coordinate such as the top of a heading halfway down page 7. That distinction matters for long documents:
- Page-level navigation: sufficient when landing anywhere on the destination page is acceptable.
- Element-level navigation: required when the reader must land on a particular heading, table row, or paragraph. You will need a product API or a post-processing approach that can set a destination coordinate; the cited example alone does not provide one.
Do not describe the workaround as automatic support for arbitrary HTML fragment IDs. It is a manual PDF-level repair.
Handling existing table-of-contents text
When the text is generated by your application
The easiest case is to generate the table of contents as TextFragment objects yourself. Keep each entry’s destination page in the same data structure used to create it, assign a LocalHyperlink, and then save the document once. This avoids trying to infer an HTML identifier after layout has changed.
When conversion already produced the PDF
Inspect the document’s pages, paragraphs, text fragments, and link annotations using the APIs available in your Aspose.PDF version. Identify the visible entry, attach a local hyperlink, and save to a new file. The supplied example does not specify a universal “find HTML id” method, so an implementation that promises this for every HTML input would be unjustified.
When the destination page is unstable
Fonts, external images, CSS, page size, margins, and content changes can move a section. Treat page numbers as output data: regenerate or validate the mapping whenever those inputs change. If you need stable semantic destinations across many document variants, investigate coordinate- or named-destination support for your exact Aspose product and version rather than relying solely on TargetPageNumber.
