The safest fix for Pokémon GO Error 12 is to stop iAnyGo and other mock-location tools, restore your phone’s real location settings, grant Pokémon GO precise location access, enable Android Location Accuracy, restart the phone, and test the game outdoors.
Error 12 does not automatically mean iAnyGo is broken or that Pokémon GO has detected spoofing. It can indicate an ordinary GPS, permission, network, or app problem. However, if Pokémon GO works normally with iAnyGo closed and fails only while it is active, the simulated location may be incompatible with the game or rejected by its location-validation checks.
What “Failed to Detect Location (Error 12)” means
Pokémon GO shows Error 12 when it cannot accept a usable location signal. That may happen because Android has disabled location, Pokémon GO has only approximate permission, GPS reception is poor, Location Accuracy is off, app data is stale, or another application is supplying a conflicting mock location.
When iAnyGo or another GPS-changing tool is running, the error may also reflect an inconsistent or simulated location. Pokémon GO can apply validation that goes beyond the basic location test used by Google Maps. Publicly available evidence does not establish that every Error 12 is an anti-cheat action, so diagnose the phone’s genuine location first.

Quick fix checklist
- Close iAnyGo and every other GPS or mock-location application.
- Turn on Android’s Use location setting.
- Give Pokémon GO foreground access to your precise location.
- Enable Location Accuracy or Improve Location Accuracy.
- Set Android’s mock-location app selector to None, if available.
- Restart the phone.
- Test Pokémon GO outdoors at your real location with Wi-Fi and mobile data enabled.
Fix Error 12 when you are not intentionally spoofing
1. Turn on Location and Location Accuracy
On Android 12 and later, open Settings > Location > Location Services > Location Accuracy, then enable Improve Location Accuracy. Older phones may use Settings > Location > Advanced > Location Accuracy. Menu names vary between Pixel, Samsung, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Motorola, and other devices.
Android Location Accuracy combines GPS, Wi-Fi, cellular signals, and device sensors to improve positioning, especially indoors or near tall buildings. See Google’s Location Accuracy documentation.
2. Grant Pokémon GO precise location permission
Use Settings > Apps > Pokémon GO > Permissions > Location. Select an allowed foreground option such as Allow only while using the app, then enable Use precise location if the switch is shown.
“Precise location” and “Location Accuracy” are separate controls on newer Android versions. Turning on one does not necessarily enable the other. Google documents the current permission controls in its Android app-permission guide and its explanation of approximate and precise location.
3. Check the real GPS signal
Move outdoors or to a place with a clear view of the sky. Underground areas, dense buildings, enclosed metal structures, and some indoor locations can weaken GPS reception. Keep the phone still for several seconds after opening Pokémon GO, and temporarily enable both Wi-Fi and mobile data.

Open Google Maps and check whether it can locate you accurately. If Maps also struggles outdoors, prioritize Android permissions, network settings, battery restrictions, Google Play services, and possible device hardware or firmware problems.
4. Remove location conflicts
For a legitimate play test, disable or uninstall fake-GPS and mock-location apps. If Developer Options is enabled, check Settings > System > Developer options > Select mock location app and choose None, if your phone provides that option.

Also close location-changing desktop software, app clones, parallel Pokémon GO installations, work-profile copies, and system-modification tools that affect location. A VPN does not fix GPS: it changes network routing or apparent IP region, not the phone’s coordinates.
5. Restart and refresh Pokémon GO
- Force-stop Pokémon GO.
- Restart the phone.
- Open the game at your real location.
- Clear its cache at Settings > Apps > Pokémon GO > Storage & cache > Clear cache.
- Update Pokémon GO and Google Play services through their official app stores.
If the problem remains, clear app data or reinstall Pokémon GO. Server-side progress normally remains attached to the account, but confirm that you know the correct login method and credentials before clearing data.
If iAnyGo is involved
First close iAnyGo and test the official Pokémon GO app using the phone’s genuine location. Do not stack multiple GPS tools or leave a mock-location application selected while troubleshooting. If the game works with iAnyGo closed but returns Error 12 whenever it runs, that points more toward spoofing compatibility or location-integrity validation than a basic GPS failure.

Tenorshare’s own troubleshooting material recommends confirming the phone connection, using its Pokémon GO workflow, enabling Game Mode, checking that the simulated location is consistent, and toggling phone location services off and on. These are vendor recommendations, not independent proof that iAnyGo will make Pokémon GO accept a simulated location.

For connection problems, use the current official iAnyGo installer, confirm that the Android phone is recognized, close other location-accessing applications, and try a wired connection if wireless communication is unstable. Restart both the phone and computer if the connection state becomes inconsistent. Avoid rapidly jumping between distant locations.

iAnyGo’s connection status is not proof that Pokémon GO accepts the resulting location. A game update can also change compatibility. No location-changing product can honestly guarantee error-free play, invisibility, or account safety.

What not to do
- Do not install modified Pokémon GO clients or cracked applications.
- Do not use root modules or concealment tools designed to hide mock locations from Pokémon GO.
- Do not assume that enabling mock locations is a general fix; it is relevant only to a deliberate simulated-location setup and can cause rejection.
- Do not rapidly teleport between distant locations.
- Do not treat marketing claims such as “undetectable,” “ban-proof,” or “permanent fix” as guarantees.
Tenorshare’s Error 12 material includes unsafe references to a cracked Pokémon GO build. Do not follow that advice. Modified game clients and anti-detection tools create additional security, privacy, compatibility, and account risks.
When to stop troubleshooting
Contact official Pokémon GO support if the game still shows Error 12 at your real location after checking precise permission, Location Accuracy, network access, restart, updates, cache, and reinstall. Also check Pokémon GO’s official in-app notices or support channels for service outages and update-related problems before repeatedly changing device settings.

If the error appears only with iAnyGo or another spoofer, the practical conclusion is different: the phone’s ordinary GPS may be working, but the simulated setup is not being accepted. Restoring real location is the reliable next step; switching among more spoofing or concealment tools is not a guaranteed solution and may increase account risk.
