If Peacock stays on its logo, spins forever, opens to a blank screen, or will not start a show, first force-close the app and reopen it. If that fails, fully restart the streaming device: unplug it or power it down for at least 20 seconds, then check the connection and try another title. The exact menus vary by device, and a loading screen can come from the app, device, network, account, or Peacock service—not just slow internet.

Quick fixes to try first

  1. Wait briefly after opening Peacock. Give the app a moment to load, particularly after a device update or restart.
  2. Force-close Peacock using the instructions for your device below. Close other background apps, then reopen Peacock.
  3. Restart the streaming device. Close Peacock, unplug the streaming device or fully power it down, wait at least 20 seconds, reconnect it, and let its home screen finish loading before opening Peacock. Pressing a TV remote’s power button may only put the TV in standby. If a separate Roku, Fire TV Stick, Apple TV, or other box supplies the app, restart that device rather than only the TV display. Peacock recommends closing apps, restarting the device, checking the connection, clearing cache/data where available, and reinstalling when needed (Peacock device troubleshooting; spinner and black-screen guidance).
  4. Check the network. Open another streaming service on the same device. If it is slow too, pause heavy downloads and streams and restart the modem/router.
  5. Try a different title or device. This helps distinguish a single-program issue from a broader app or account problem.
  6. Clear Peacock’s cache if the device offers that option, then restart and test again. Clear app data/storage only if cache clearing fails; it can remove the local sign-in state.
  7. Update Peacock and the device software. Use the device’s official app store or system settings, then restart.
  8. Sign out and back in if Peacock opens far enough to reach account controls but content will not load.
  9. Reinstall Peacock if it still hangs: uninstall the app, restart the device, reinstall it from the official store, sign in, and test another title.

If Peacock continues to fail across supported devices and networks, use Peacock’s official Help Center or customer-service contact options.

Identify where Peacock gets stuck

What you see What it may point to Best next test
Peacock logo or spinner never goes away App launch, device software, or service initialization problem Force-close, restart the device, then test another device
Home page loads, but a selected show does not Content delivery, account/session, or title-specific issue Try another title; sign out and back in if menus work
One live event or program spins A content-specific or live-event playback issue is possible Test another title, especially non-live content
Playback starts and repeatedly pauses Buffering or unstable network connection Check connection stability and competing network activity
Peacock works in a browser but not on the TV app TV app data, firmware, or device compatibility Update and restart the TV or streaming device; check support requirements
Peacock fails on multiple devices or networks Account-side or Peacock-side issue becomes more plausible Check official support channels and contact Peacock

A stuck launch screen, a title that will not begin, and playback that starts but buffers are related symptoms, but they do not necessarily have the same cause. Use the symptom to choose the next test rather than assuming every spinner means the internet is slow.

Force-close Peacock and clear its local data

Menu names and available controls differ by model and software version. Start with force-close and cache clearing; avoid resetting the TV or router to factory settings as an early step.

Roku

  1. Press Home and move to another channel or the Roku home screen.
  2. Reopen Peacock. If it still hangs, restart Roku from its system or power menu, or disconnect its power briefly.

Roku does not generally offer the same per-app cache controls as Fire TV or Android TV. Do not rely on a universal cache-clearing button or code.

Amazon Fire TV

  1. Open Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Peacock. Labels may vary.
  2. Select Force Stop, then try Clear Cache.
  3. If the problem persists, select Clear Data, knowing this can remove the local sign-in state.
  4. Restart Fire TV and reopen Peacock.

Android TV and Google TV

  1. Open Settings → Apps → See all apps → Peacock (the labels can differ).
  2. Select Force stop, then Clear cache.
  3. Use Clear data or Clear storage only if clearing the cache fails; you may need to sign in again.
  4. Restart the TV or streaming device and test Peacock.

Apple TV

  1. Double-press the TV button to open the app switcher.
  2. Swipe to Peacock and swipe up to close it, then reopen the app.
  3. If needed, restart Apple TV through its system menu or disconnect power briefly.
  4. If the problem remains, delete and reinstall Peacock; reinstalling is generally the practical local reset on Apple TV.

Samsung, LG, Vizio, and other smart TVs

  1. Exit Peacock, open another app, then return to Peacock.
  2. Fully restart the television rather than relying on the remote’s standby button.
  3. If the TV provides app-management controls, clear or reset Peacock’s app data. If not, update or reinstall the app.

Not every TV has a cache-clearing control. The available options depend on its manufacturer, model, and operating-system version.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause, or double-press the Home button on older models.
  2. Swipe Peacock away to close it, then reopen it.
  3. If it still fails, delete and reinstall the app from the official App Store.

Android phones and tablets

  1. Open Settings → Apps → Peacock → Force stop.
  2. Open Storage and choose Clear cache.
  3. Reopen Peacock. Use Clear storage or Clear data only if needed; it may sign you out.

Windows and Mac browsers

  1. Close the Peacock tab, quit the browser, then reopen it.
  2. Try a current supported browser. Peacock lists Chrome 125 or later, Firefox 127 or later, and Microsoft Edge 125 or later on Windows/Mac, plus Safari 17.3 or later on Mac (supported devices and platforms).
  3. Clear Peacock site data or cookies rather than erasing all browser data immediately.
  4. Temporarily disable extensions that may block scripts or media, such as ad blockers or privacy tools. A private/incognito window is a useful diagnostic test.

PlayStation and Xbox

Close Peacock and restart the console using its system power controls; if that does not help, check the official app store for an update, then uninstall and reinstall Peacock. Menu names vary by console version. Peacock’s compatibility page lists PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S among supported devices.

Test the network without guessing

Peacock says competing devices, large downloads, and other demanding network activity can slow loading. Its published guidance is at least 3.0 Mbps for general streaming and at least 8 Mbps for certain high-quality live events and UHD premium content (Peacock slow-loading and buffering guidance). These are guidance figures, not guarantees: Wi-Fi interference, congestion, latency, packet loss, and device performance can still disrupt streaming.

  • Run a speed test on the same network the streaming device uses.
  • Pause large downloads, uploads, cloud backups, online games, and other streams; temporarily disconnect unnecessary Wi-Fi devices.
  • Open another streaming service on the same device. If multiple services fail, the network, router, ISP, or device is more likely than Peacock alone.
  • Restart the modem and router if other apps are also slow. This briefly disconnects devices in the home.
  • Move the streaming device closer to the router, or try Ethernet if supported. Compare wired and Wi-Fi results where practical.
  • Try Peacock on a phone using cellular data, if available. Cellular use may incur data charges and can perform differently from home broadband.

VPNs, custom DNS, router-level parental controls, corporate or public Wi-Fi filters, and browser extensions can sometimes interfere with sign-in or video delivery. Temporarily turn off one such tool only as a test. If Peacock then works, look for a compatible setting or whitelist option rather than leaving privacy or security protections disabled.

Check that your device is supported and updated

An app can remain stuck if the device or operating system no longer meets Peacock’s requirements. Peacock’s supported-device page currently lists Android 7.0 or later; iOS 16 or later; Fire TV/Fire Tablet with Fire OS 6 or later; Android TV devices with Android OS 5.1 or later; Apple TV HD (4th generation or later) with tvOS 18 or later; Chromecast 2nd generation or later, including Chromecast with Google TV; LG webOS 3.5 or later; Hisense VIDAA 5.0 or later; and Samsung Smart TV models from 2017 or later. It also lists PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One and Series X/S, current Roku models, and Xumo devices. Requirements and availability can change, and supported hardware can differ by region, so check Peacock’s current compatibility list for your location and exact model.

  1. Check the device’s official app store for a Peacock update.
  2. Install pending device, TV, console, phone, or browser updates from the manufacturer’s official update menu.
  3. Restart after updating and try Peacock again.

A device that is no longer supported may not be fixed by clearing cache or reinstalling. Do not install unofficial APKs or modified app packages.

Check the title and your Peacock sign-in

If the app opens and menus respond, try a different show or movie. If only one title or live event fails, the problem may be limited to that content rather than the whole app. If every title fails but account controls work, sign out, fully close Peacock, restart the device, then sign in again. Confirm that you are using the intended Peacock account; if access comes through a bundle or partner, check that its entitlement is still linked.

A loading screen alone does not show that a subscription is invalid. Do not cancel and resubscribe as a technical fix; it can create billing or access complications without repairing an app, device, network, or service problem.

Is Peacock down?

A failure on one device is not enough to establish an outage. Test Peacock on a second supported device and, if possible, on both the app and website. If Peacock fails across several devices and networks while other services work, a Peacock-side or account-side issue becomes more likely; if only one device fails, local app data, software, or compatibility is more likely. Check Peacock’s official support channels for updates rather than relying on an unverified outage claim.

When to contact Peacock

Contact support if reinstalling does not help, the failure occurs on multiple supported devices, Peacock fails on both Wi-Fi and cellular data, a recurring error code appears, or your account cannot sign in or show the expected entitlement. This is especially important for a time-sensitive live event.

  • Device brand and exact model
  • Operating-system or firmware version and Peacock app version, if visible
  • Browser name and version, if relevant
  • Where loading stops and whether all titles or only one are affected
  • Exact error message or code
  • Whether the issue occurs on another device or network
  • Steps already tried

Use Peacock’s Help Center, Helper Bot, or the official customer-service page for email or live chat options. That page lists live-agent hours as 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Eastern Time; hours can change. It also identifies @PeacockTVCare on X and Facebook and @Peacock on Instagram. Avoid third-party support numbers or unofficial app downloads.
