Most missing images in an EvoPdf HTML-string conversion come down to URL context: a relative path such as images/logo.png has no page address to resolve against when the HTML is passed as a string. Pass the correct base URL as the second argument to ConvertHtml, add a <base href="..."> element, or use an absolute image URL. If that does not fix it, check whether the conversion process can access the image and whether the image is available when conversion runs.
Give relative image paths a base URL
An HTML file loaded from a website has a location that gives the browser context for resolving relative paths. An HTML string passed to EvoPdf does not automatically have that context. The converter therefore cannot infer where a path such as images/logo.png is supposed to point.
Pass the directory or page URL that makes the relative path valid as the second argument to ConvertHtml. EvoPdf documents this base URL as context for relative references to images, CSS, JavaScript, and web fonts.

Use a directory base when paths are directory-relative
When the base represents a directory, include its trailing slash. A URL ending in a file-like segment and one ending in a slash can produce different relative paths. For example, a base of https://example.com/reports/ is appropriate when images/logo.png should be found in a child directory of reports. The base URL is not merely the website’s home page; it must correspond to the location that makes the references in this particular HTML valid.
Alternative: add a base element
You can put a <base href="..."> element in the document head instead of passing the base as a method argument. Use one approach consistently and ensure the document has a head element:

byte[] pdf = converter.ConvertHtml(html);Another option is to write the full URL directly in each src attribute. That removes the need for relative-path resolution, but it does not make a private, unavailable, or otherwise inaccessible image reachable by the conversion process.

Verify the image from the converter’s machine
A correct-looking URL in your code is not proof that EvoPdf can retrieve the resource. Image requests are made by the conversion process, so a URL that opens in your workstation browser may still fail from the machine running conversion. EvoPdf support recommends constructing the expected full image URL and opening it from that machine.
- Combine the base URL and relative image path into the full URL you expect the converter to use.
- From the conversion host, try to access that exact image URL. Check that it resolves and returns the image rather than an error, sign-in page, or empty response.
- If it is not reachable, investigate DNS, firewall or proxy rules, TLS, and server-side permissions for that host.
- Once the resource can be retrieved from the conversion environment, run the same conversion again to distinguish a reachability problem from a URL-resolution problem.
Test under the same environment and identity as the conversion job where possible. A successful test from a developer account does not establish that a service or scheduled process has the same access.

Check authentication and local-file access
Images behind authentication
An image URL can be valid but still return no usable image to an unauthenticated request. EvoPdf notes that image and CSS requests may require HTTP or forms authentication. Configure the converter’s authentication options or forward the request cookies or headers that the image server requires. The request used for the image must have access; being logged in to a separate browser session does not by itself supply credentials to the converter.
When diagnosing this case, first test the resource from the conversion host with the same authentication conditions as the conversion. If the direct request is denied, correct the access configuration rather than changing the image’s relative path. For forms-based access, make sure the required session information is available to the resource request.
Images stored on disk
For local assets, use a file URL such as file:///C:/images/image.jpg, and ensure the account running the conversion process can read that location. The file’s presence on a developer’s computer is not enough if the converter runs under another account or on another machine. Check the path and file permissions from the conversion environment.
Use a web base URL for web-hosted resources and a file URL for local assets; do not expect a relative web path to resolve to an arbitrary local directory. Keep the URL form aligned with where the image actually lives.

Account for lazy-loaded and JavaScript-generated images
Some pages do not expose every image immediately in their initial HTML. A lazy-loaded image may be requested only as the page is prepared for display, while JavaScript may create or update an image after the initial load. In those cases, a correct URL alone may not be sufficient: the content must also be available before the converter captures the result.
Lazy loading
EvoPdf Next documents HtmlToPdfConverterLoadLazyImages as enabled by default and provides a lazy-image load mode. If a page’s images are lazy-loaded, check that lazy-image loading remains enabled and review the applicable mode for the EvoPdf Next version in use. The documented default applies specifically to EvoPdf Next; do not assume the same setting or default for every EvoPdf edition or version.
JavaScript that updates the page
If script-generated images are missing because the content is not ready when conversion begins, increase ConversionDelay and check whether that gives the page time to populate. A fixed delay is a timing allowance, not proof that the content is ready on every run. Where waiting a fixed amount is unreliable, EvoPdf documents manual triggering: arrange for the page to call evoPdfConverter_startConversion() after its content is ready.
Use the smallest timing or loading change that matches the symptom. If an ordinary, publicly accessible image is absent from an otherwise static HTML string, fix its URL context first; do not start by adding a delay.

A practical order for fixing the problem
- Inspect the HTML. Identify whether each missing image uses a relative path, absolute web URL, or local file URL.
- Resolve relative paths. For an HTML string, pass a suitable base URL to
ConvertHtml, use a<base href>, or make the image URL absolute. Confirm that the final URL matches the asset’s actual location. - Test access where conversion runs. Verify network reachability, server response, and any required authentication from the conversion environment.
- Check file permissions for local images. Confirm that the converter account can read the file indicated by the file URL.
- Check timing only when the page needs it. For lazy or script-generated images, verify the applicable lazy-image behavior or wait for readiness using a delay or manual triggering.
- Change one cause at a time. Retest after each change so you can tell whether the failure was URL resolution, access control, local permissions, or timing.
Reliability and operating considerations
For a stable conversion, make the source of each image explicit and ensure the conversion host can reach it under the credentials and permissions available to the job. This reduces dependence on a developer’s browser session or local machine. If content appears asynchronously, a fixed wait can vary with page behavior; a readiness-triggered conversion is the more direct fit when the page can signal that it is ready.
The available EvoPdf guidance for this issue does not establish a particular delay value, performance penalty, or cost for these remedies. Treat a delay as a responsiveness trade-off to evaluate in your own workload rather than applying an arbitrary number. Likewise, test external resource access and authentication in the environment where conversions actually run; success from another network or account does not establish equivalent reliability.
