The code does not identify one single failure: Hulu may be experiencing an outage, your network may be interfering, or the app, device software, or title may have a local playback problem. Start with a different title, a different device, and—if possible—a mobile hotspot before deleting data or changing router settings.
What Hulu error P-DEV320 means
P-DEV320 is primarily a playback and communication error. It generally appears when Hulu cannot successfully exchange playback data with its service, but the code alone cannot tell you whether Hulu, your internet connection, the device, or the app installation is responsible. It is not normally a billing-error code. Do not change your password or subscription settings unless you also have independent signs of a sign-in, entitlement, or account-security problem.

Try another title
- Return to Hulu’s home screen.
- Play a different movie or episode.
- If you use Hulu + Live TV, try both on-demand and live content.
- Note whether the error affects one title or everything.
If only one title or channel fails, the problem may be temporary or title-specific. That does not prove a licensing issue. If every title fails on one device, continue with device troubleshooting.
Try another device
Open Hulu on a phone, tablet, computer browser, or another supported streaming device.

Check Hulu’s supported-device information, because older hardware or operating systems may not receive current Hulu functionality.

Check for a service outage
Test Hulu on a second device and, if possible, a separate network. Check Hulu’s official Help Center and a reputable outage tracker such as Downdetector. User reports can reveal a pattern, but Downdetector is not an official Hulu incident report. If Hulu fails across multiple devices and separate networks at the same time, a Hulu-side problem becomes more likely; waiting may be more effective than reinstalling repeatedly.
Fixes that apply to any device
1. Force-close and reopen Hulu
Pressing Home may leave Hulu suspended. Close it through the device’s app switcher or app manager, then launch it again.
2. Restart the device
Use the device’s normal restart command, not just the television’s standby button. Restart phones, tablets, computers, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV devices, consoles, and smart TVs. A restart clears temporary app and system state without removing your Hulu account.

3. Power-cycle the modem and router
- Turn off or unplug the modem and router.
- Leave both disconnected for about one minute.
- Reconnect the modem first and wait for its connection lights to stabilize.
- Reconnect or restart the router, then test Hulu.
Hulu’s connectivity guidance is available at Improve your internet connection. This will briefly interrupt other household devices and will not fix an ISP-wide outage.
4. Update Hulu and system software
- Open the device’s app store, search for Hulu, and install any pending update.
- Check the device for operating-system or firmware updates.
- Restart after updating and try playback again.
On Android, the usual path is Google Play Store > profile icon > Manage apps & device > Updates available. On iPhone or iPad, use App Store > account/profile icon, then update Hulu. Labels vary by operating-system and store version.

For a controlled test, disable a VPN or proxy, return custom DNS to automatic, and pause router-level ad blocking or filtering. Reopen Hulu, then re-enable services one at a time. Corporate, school, hotel, apartment, public Wi-Fi, parental-control, and filtered networks can alter streaming traffic. This is a diagnostic step, not a recommendation to leave security or privacy controls disabled.

Clear Hulu cache or app data by platform
Android phones and tablets
- Open Settings > Apps.
- Choose See all apps if shown, then select Hulu.
- Tap Force stop, then Storage & cache.
- Tap Clear cache and reopen Hulu.
If that fails, Clear storage or Clear data removes local app data and signs you out. Android manufacturer labels vary.
Fire TV, Android TV, and Google TV
The common pattern is Settings > Applications/Apps > Hulu > Clear cache. Some versions also provide Clear data, which can remove the saved session and preferences. Menu names and available controls differ by television and firmware.
Roku
Roku generally does not provide Android-style per-app cache controls. Prefer a device restart and software update. If necessary, remove Hulu, restart Roku, reinstall Hulu from the official channel store, and sign in again. Exact menu wording varies by Roku software version.

iPhone and iPad
iOS and iPadOS generally have no user-facing Hulu cache button. Delete Hulu and reinstall it from the App Store when restarting and updating do not help. Reinstallation removes local data and requires your Hulu credentials.
Apple TV and game consoles
Use the platform’s restart, update, and uninstall/reinstall controls. Because menu names differ by Apple TV, PlayStation, Xbox, and firmware version, follow the device’s current on-screen prompts rather than a universal cache path.
Computer browsers
Clear Hulu’s site data and cached files, update the browser, test a private window, and temporarily disable extensions. Prefer site-specific deletion where available because clearing all cookies can sign you out of Hulu and other websites. Hulu’s current instructions are at Clear your browser cache. Also confirm that cookies and JavaScript are allowed and test another supported browser.
When to reinstall Hulu
Reinstall when the error is confined to the app, persists after a restart and cache clear, or accompanies crashes or endless loading on a supported, updated device.

- Expect to sign in again; downloaded or locally stored app data may be removed.
- Install only from the device’s official app store.
- Do not expect reinstallation to fix a Hulu outage, unsupported hardware, or a blocked home network.
When waiting is the better fix
Stop making local changes when Hulu fails on multiple devices and separate networks, an outage pattern is visible, or the same title fails everywhere. Record the title, devices, networks, and time of failure and try again later. A single failed episode or channel does not establish that your device or internet connection is defective.
If P-DEV320 keeps returning
Contact Hulu through the official Help Center when the code survives device and network tests, affects multiple profiles or Live TV, or began immediately after an app or firmware update. Hulu states that live support is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, although contact options can vary by region and account flow. Avoid phone numbers published on unofficial troubleshooting pages.
