Hulu error P-DEV302 is a playback failure, not a diagnosis with one guaranteed cause. It can originate in the Hulu app or website, your device software, the network, an account session, browser settings, or Hulu’s service. Start with a full app/device restart and a modem-router power cycle, then narrow the fault with another title, device, and network before resorting to disruptive resets.
Try these fixes first
- Close Hulu completely, not just minimize it.
- Restart the streaming device or phone.
- Open Hulu and try a different show or movie.
- If playback still fails, unplug the modem and router for about one minute, reconnect them, wait for internet service to return, and try again.
- Install pending Hulu and device-software updates.

What P-DEV302 means
Hulu does not publicly define P-DEV302 as one specific technical failure. It usually appears when a program is selected but playback cannot start. The same code can therefore have different causes on a smart TV, streaming stick, game console, phone, tablet, or browser.

Third-party troubleshooting commonly associates the code with outdated app or device software, damaged local app data, network communication problems, browser privacy controls, account-session issues, or a Hulu-side incident. Those are possibilities rather than an official Hulu diagnosis. Do not assume that P-DEV302 automatically means old firmware, a DRM failure, an outage, or a slow internet connection.

Identify the scope before changing settings
Run these low-risk tests and use the result to choose the next step:

Try a second title, another Hulu profile, Hulu on a phone or computer, another service on the same device, and—where appropriate—a phone hotspot. These interpretations are diagnostic inferences, not Hulu classifications.
Update Hulu and the device
Update both layers separately:
- Open the device’s official app store and install any Hulu update.
- Install pending television, streaming-stick, console, phone, tablet, or computer operating-system updates.
- Restart after updating and test playback again.
Reinstalling Hulu does not update the TV or streaming-stick firmware. Hulu lists desktop browsers, mobile devices, consoles, streaming platforms, and select smart-TV models—not every model in a product family—as supported. Check your exact model against Hulu’s current device information at Hulu’s Live TV device page.

Menu names change by model and software release. Use the following as platform examples:
Android TV or Google TV
Go to Settings → Apps → Hulu → Storage, then choose Clear cache. Use Clear data only if necessary; it can sign you out.

Amazon Fire TV
Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → Hulu, then select Clear cache. Clear data is a more disruptive reset.
Roku
Roku generally does not provide a conventional per-app cache button. Restart Roku; if needed, remove Hulu, restart Roku again, and reinstall Hulu.
Apple TV
Force-quit Hulu, restart Apple TV, and reinstall Hulu if the problem remains.
Samsung, LG, and Vizio televisions
Use the television’s app-management, reset, or reinstall controls. The exact path differs by model and firmware, so follow the on-screen labels for your set.
Phones and tablets
Android usually offers Settings → Apps → Hulu → Storage → Clear cache. On iPhone or iPad, offload or delete Hulu and reinstall it from the App Store.

Reinstall Hulu cleanly
- Sign out of Hulu if the app allows it.
- Delete or uninstall Hulu.
- Restart the device.
- Reinstall Hulu from the platform’s official app store.
- Sign in and test more than one title.
Reinstallation can repair corrupted local data. It cannot correct a Hulu outage, unsupported hardware, an account authorization problem, or blocking at the router.
Refresh the account session
Sign out on the affected device, restart it, and sign back in. If the error continues, review the devices on your Hulu account and remove stale entries before registering the current device again. This is an intermediate troubleshooting step, not a P-DEV302-specific Hulu remedy.
- Have your Hulu credentials available.
- Removing devices may sign out other household members.
- Skip this step when Hulu works normally elsewhere and the failure is clearly limited to one device.
Browser fixes for Hulu.com
When P-DEV302 appears in a browser:
- Use a current, supported browser and update the operating system.
- Clear Hulu site data and cached files.
- Temporarily disable extensions that block scripts, cookies, ads, tracking, or DRM-related components.
- Turn off VPN or proxy services while testing.
- Try a private window and then a different browser.
Reports have linked browser occurrences with privacy or anti-tracking settings, but this is not confirmed in an official Hulu error bulletin. Do not weaken security globally; re-enable protections after testing and use a site-specific exception only when you trust and understand it. Check the network path
- Restart the modem and router, then wait until the connection is fully restored.
- Use Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi where practical, or test a different Wi-Fi band and a closer location.
- Temporarily disable VPNs, proxies, custom DNS filtering, parental controls, or router security rules that could block Hulu domains.
- Test Hulu on another network, such as cellular data or a hotspot, when your plan and device allow it.
A successful Netflix or YouTube test does not prove Hulu’s path is healthy: services use different domains, delivery systems, and DRM paths.
Hulu + Live TV home-location limitation
Hulu + Live TV has additional location requirements. Hulu says Live TV requires a supported device and high-speed internet, and a mobile hotspot cannot serve as the residential home network for establishing a Live TV home location. Check for a Hulu-side incident
Before repeatedly resetting equipment, check Hulu’s official Help Center or support channel and ask whether an incident affects multiple titles, devices, or networks. In a February 2025 Samsung Community case, P-DEV302 appeared on a Samsung television while other streaming services worked; a Samsung moderator directed the customer to Hulu. That report is an example, not proof that every P-DEV302 event is an outage: Samsung Community case.

Escalate when the code survives restart, updates, reinstall, and network testing; appears on multiple supported devices; affects several titles; works on one network but not another; or includes a secondary DRM, playback, or session identifier. Contact Hulu before considering a factory reset.
Give support a reproducible record:
- Exact code: P-DEV302, plus any second identifier.
- Device make, model, and operating-system or firmware version.
- Hulu app version, if visible.
- Whether every title fails or only one.
- Results on a browser, phone, console, or another TV.
- Whether other streaming services work.
- Your internet provider and whether another network was tested.
- The date and approximate time of the failure.

Should you factory-reset or replace the device?
Usually, no. A factory reset erases settings, accounts, preferences, and sometimes other apps; it does not repair a Hulu-side problem or guarantee compatibility with an older smart-TV platform. Treat it as a last resort after Hulu or the device manufacturer recommends it and you have recorded your passwords and settings.
Replace a television or streaming device only when its exact model is unsupported, obsolete, or failing with multiple apps. P-DEV302 alone is not evidence that hardware must be replaced.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is P-DEV302 proof that Hulu is down?
No. It is a playback code with no publicly documented single cause. Cross-device and cross-network tests are needed to distinguish a Hulu-side incident from a local problem.
Does clearing cache delete my Hulu subscription?
Clearing cache normally removes temporary files. Clearing app data or reinstalling can sign you out, but your subscription remains tied to your Hulu account.
Can a VPN cause P-DEV302?
It can interfere with Hulu’s network or location checks. Disable the VPN temporarily as a test, then restore it unless Hulu works only with a trusted, deliberate configuration.
Should I disable IPv6?
There is no verified universal P-DEV302 fix involving IPv6. Do not change it unless Hulu support or your network administrator directs a controlled test.
Why does Hulu work on my phone but not my TV?
That pattern points toward the TV app, TV firmware, compatibility, local data, or the TV’s network path. Update and reinstall the TV app, then compare the TV on another network.
