“Error Uploading Your Video, Please Try Again” is a generic LinkedIn failure message, not a diagnosis. The fastest way to isolate it is to test another video, check the original against LinkedIn’s limits, re-export it as a compatibility-first MP4, then retry in an updated browser or app. If every video fails across devices and networks, check LinkedIn’s status page and contact support.
Start with this five-minute isolation test
- Try uploading a different, known-good video.
- Try the same file in a private/incognito browser window or in the current LinkedIn app.
- Switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or use another trusted network.
- If only one video fails, re-export that file before repeatedly retrying it.
- If every video fails everywhere, check LinkedIn’s status page.
These tests do not prove the cause, but they quickly separate a file problem from a browser, app, network, account, or LinkedIn-side problem.
What the error usually means
LinkedIn can show the same message when something goes wrong during file validation, transfer, video processing, or final post creation. Use the point of failure as a practical clue:

- Failure immediately after selecting the file: Check the file’s size, duration, format, permissions, and browser or app state.
- Failure during transfer: Test another browser, device, or network.
- Upload reaches 100% and then fails: Suspect processing compatibility, corruption, unusual metadata, or an internal processing error.
- The post appears but the video is unavailable: LinkedIn may still be processing it, or processing may have failed.
- Only one video fails: The video itself is the leading suspect.
- Every video fails: Focus on the browser, app, network, account, permissions, or a temporary LinkedIn problem.
Check LinkedIn’s video requirements
For ordinary LinkedIn video sharing, LinkedIn publishes these limits in its video-sharing troubleshooting guidance:

A video can have an accepted file extension and still fail because its codec, frame rate, bitrate, metadata, or encoding details are incompatible. The limits above apply to normal member video sharing; do not substitute specifications for LinkedIn APIs, advertising, or other product workflows. LinkedIn’s developer video documentation describes separate API requirements and processing states.
Prepare and inspect the video
- Keep the original. Make a copy before converting or editing it.
- Confirm complete playback. Play it from beginning to end, scrub through the timeline, and check audio synchronization.
- Inspect its properties. Check size, duration, dimensions, frame rate, and bitrate.
- Use a local copy. Download the file fully from cloud storage instead of uploading a cloud placeholder.
- Try a simple filename. Rename the copy using ordinary letters and numbers, such as
linkedin-video-01.mp4. This is a practical test, not a published LinkedIn requirement. - Test another player. If the file cannot play correctly elsewhere, export it again from the original source.
Re-export it as a compatibility-first MP4
LinkedIn lists several supported file types, including MP4, MOV, AVI, WEBM, MKV, WMV, VC1, MPEG variants, DVVIDEO, QTRLE, and TSCC2. That does not mean every codec or encoding combination inside those containers will process successfully.
The most useful workaround is a fresh export with:
- Container: MP4
- Video: H.264/AVC
- Audio: AAC
- Frame rate: Constant or standard frame rate within 10–60 fps
- Resolution and bitrate: Comfortably within LinkedIn’s published limits
- File contents: One normal video track and one audio track where possible
This is a compatibility-first recommendation, not a claim that LinkedIn accepts only H.264 MP4. Avoid exporting close to the 5 GB limit when a smaller file can retain acceptable quality.

You can use a video editor or transcoder. HandBrake is a free graphical option for straightforward conversion. FFmpeg is useful for technical users and batch workflows, but its command-line interface is unnecessary for most one-off uploads.
Special case: ProRes
LinkedIn says some files, including ProRes videos, may upload but fail during processing. If your camera or editor produced ProRes, export a standard H.264/AAC copy and upload that instead.
Upload from a desktop browser
- Open LinkedIn on the homepage, in a Group, or on a LinkedIn Page where you have permission to post.
- In the share box, select the video option.
- Choose Upload from computer.
- Select the local video, or drag and drop or paste it into the share box if that option is available.
- Wait for upload and processing to finish.
- Add text, thumbnail, captions, and visibility settings when available, then publish.
Labels can vary by account type, region, and LinkedIn redesign. If the upload works but an optional thumbnail or caption step fails, retry with optional additions omitted to isolate the base video.

Fix browser-related upload failures
LinkedIn recommends the following general troubleshooting steps in its browser troubleshooting guidance:

- Sign out and sign back in.
- Retry in a private or incognito window.
- Try another supported browser.
- Use the current or previous major release of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. Internet Explorer is not supported.
- Temporarily disable ad blockers, privacy tools, script blockers, upload managers, and corporate security extensions.
- Check whether a pop-up blocker is interfering.
- Clear LinkedIn-related cache and cookies, then sign in again.
Clearing cookies is not a guaranteed fix. It can also sign you out of other websites. Save passwords or confirm that you can access your accounts before clearing broad browser data. LinkedIn explains the consequences in its cache and cookie guidance.
Fix LinkedIn mobile-app uploads
- Update LinkedIn from the App Store or Google Play.
- Make sure the video is stored locally on the phone.
- Open the LinkedIn post composer and select the video from the device.
- On iPhone, keep LinkedIn open while the upload runs. Backgrounding the app can stall the upload.
- On Android, wait for LinkedIn’s completion notification even if background uploading continues.
LinkedIn says iCloud-stored videos cannot be uploaded directly from the mobile app. Download or move the video to local iPhone storage first. On Android, also compare the result after clearing LinkedIn app data if necessary; this may remove local app state and require you to sign in again.

For iOS problems, reinstalling the app is another official troubleshooting option, but it is not guaranteed to fix a video or account-side problem. LinkedIn’s mobile troubleshooting guidance lists the information to provide when escalating.

- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or use another trusted network.
- Temporarily turn off a VPN or corporate proxy if your organization permits it.
- Try a personal device if the failure occurs only on a work-managed computer.
- Check that you are posting to the intended profile, Group, or Page and have permission to post there.
If the upload works on another network, investigate VPN, proxy, firewall, upload filtering, or unstable connectivity. If it works in the app but not on desktop, focus on browser versions, extensions, cookies, pop-up blockers, and desktop network controls. Avoid starting many uploads simultaneously while an earlier attempt may still be processing.

When the upload reaches 100% but processing fails
A completed transfer is not the same as a successfully processed video. Use this sequence:
- Wait briefly if LinkedIn still displays a processing state rather than an immediate error.
- Keep the original file until the replacement post is confirmed.
- Re-export the video as H.264/AAC MP4.
- Remove ProRes, unusual effects, multiple audio tracks, or unnecessary metadata where your editor allows it.
- Retry without optional thumbnail or caption additions.
- Upload the converted copy as a new attempt.
LinkedIn’s API documentation identifies several possible processing failure categories, including excessive size, unsupported format, internal error, database or performance problems, and network failure. That documentation is API-oriented, so it should not be treated as a direct diagnosis of every consumer-post error; it does show why a failure after 100% can have more than one cause.
Check whether LinkedIn is having an outage
A LinkedIn-side incident becomes more likely when unrelated videos fail in both the app and browser, the problem persists across networks and devices, other LinkedIn functions malfunction, or other users report the same issue. Check linkedin-status.com for near-real-time availability and historical incidents. Do not assume an outage simply because one file fails.

If every video fails after you have tested another browser, device, and network, or if a known-good file fails everywhere, contact LinkedIn through its official process:
- Open the LinkedIn Help Center.
- Sign in.
- Select Contact us.
- Choose Chat with support or the support path shown for your account.
Include the exact steps that reproduce the issue, a screenshot, the file’s size and duration, your browser or app version, operating-system version, device make and model, whether the failure occurs on desktop, and whether another video succeeds. Mention where it fails: immediately, during transfer, at 100%, or after publication.
LinkedIn says it does not offer a general customer-support phone number. Avoid websites advertising paid “LinkedIn phone support”; LinkedIn warns that such services are unaffiliated.
