If the message is Error 30005, EA also recommends deleting the `.sys` file in the Easy Anti-Cheat folder and restarting. The right fix depends on the exact message, so note the wording and error code before changing anything.
Identify the error before troubleshooting
These messages can have different causes. Use the first action below as a starting point, not a guarantee that every error has the same fix.

| The error appeared just after an Apex or Windows update | Check EA’s official channels for a confirmed issue before reinstalling. A local repair cannot resolve a broken update or service. |
EA lists corrupted Anti-Cheat files as a possible cause of the runtime-integrity error and recommends repairing Apex. Its Apex error-code guide also covers Error 30005 and links to service and community support channels. Check those channels for current reports; service status changes over time.
Start with a restart and an outage check
- Write down the exact error wording and any numeric code.
- Close Apex and its launcher, then restart Windows and try launching the game again.
- Check EA’s Apex error-code page, the official @PlayApex account, and relevant EA community issue channels for a newly reported problem.
If many players report the same failure after a patch, wait for an official update before repeatedly repairing or reinstalling. If the issue affects only your PC, continue with the repair steps for your launcher.

Repair Apex in the EA app
- Open the EA app and select Library.
- Find Apex Legends and select the three-dot Manage menu on its game tile.
- Choose Repair and wait for the scan and any downloads to finish.
- Restart the EA app, then launch Apex from the app.
Repair checks the installed game and replaces damaged or missing files where needed, making it a better first step than uninstalling the game. EA gives this repair path for the runtime-integrity error in its Apex troubleshooting guide.
Verify Apex files in Steam
- Restart Windows and open Steam.
- Open Library, right-click Apex Legends, and select Properties.
- Select Installed Files, then Verify integrity of game files.
- Wait for verification and any replacement downloads to finish, then restart Steam and launch Apex from Steam.
Verification can take several minutes. Steam notes that some local configuration files may fail validation normally and may not be replaced. Do not run several demanding disk or antivirus operations at the same time. See Steam’s file-verification instructions for its explanation of validation results.
Fix Error 30005 with the Easy Anti-Cheat file step
EA specifically recommends deleting the `.sys` file in the Easy Anti-Cheat directory for Error 30005, then restarting the PC. This is not a general step for every Anti-Cheat message.

- Close Apex and its launcher.
- Open File Explorer and go to
C:Program Files (x86)EasyAntiCheat. The folder may be elsewhere on some installations. - Delete the `.sys` file in that folder only. Do not delete unrelated `.sys` files or Windows system files.
- Restart the PC.
- If the error remains, repair Apex in the EA app or verify its files in Steam, then launch it through the official launcher.
If Windows says the file is in use, restart and try again rather than using an unknown force-delete utility. Do not download a replacement file from a third-party site. EA’s Error 30005 instructions specify the deletion and restart steps.

Update Windows and device drivers
Install pending Windows updates and check for current drivers from your hardware manufacturer or Windows Update. Restart after installing them, then test Apex. Steam’s game launch troubleshooting guide recommends checking Windows, drivers, and nonessential software when a game will not launch.
Test without nonessential background software
Close overlays and utilities temporarily, such as recording tools, hardware-monitoring apps, controller remappers, macro utilities, and aggressive system-tuning software. Launch Apex from Steam or the EA app. If that changes the result, re-enable programs one at a time to identify a conflict. Do not use macro, injection, or unauthorized game-modification tools while testing.

Review security-software blocks safely
Do not uninstall antivirus as a routine fix; EA says it does not recommend doing so for this issue. Instead, check whether your security product is current and review its quarantine or blocked-event history. Restore a file only if it is clearly a legitimate Apex or Easy Anti-Cheat component and your security vendor confirms it is safe. If an exception is necessary, keep it narrowly scoped and restore normal protection after testing.
Clear the EA app cache if you use the EA app
Close the EA app completely and use its built-in App Recovery or Clear Cache option if available in your version. Restart Windows and repair Apex again. Menu wording can vary; EA’s EA app troubleshooting guide covers cache and launcher problems.
Check Secure Boot or TPM only when the error points there
Do not change BIOS settings as a generic Apex fix. These checks are relevant if the game or Steam explicitly reports a security requirement, other Anti-Cheat games fail too, or the problem began after a BIOS, Windows, or hardware change.

- Press Win + R, enter
msinfo32, and check BIOS Mode and Secure Boot State. - Press Win + R, enter
tpm.msc, and check whether a TPM is present and its Specification Version, where applicable.
Enabling these features involves UEFI/BIOS settings. Steam warns that incorrect BIOS changes can prevent a computer from starting; follow the specific guide from your PC or motherboard manufacturer. See Steam’s Secure Boot and TPM guidance.

Reinstall only after repair or verification has completed and Apex still fails, the launcher repeatedly downloads the same files, or the installation appears badly damaged. Do not reinstall immediately when the issue began after a patch and EA has acknowledged a broader problem.
Before uninstalling, make sure you can sign in to the EA or Steam account you use for Apex. EA says reinstalling should not remove game progress, but local settings, cached data, and launcher configuration may not be preserved. Start with repair or verification because it can fix damaged files without removing the installation.

When the issue may be broader than Apex
- Only Apex fails: Prioritize the relevant launcher’s repair or verification and check Apex-specific service reports.
- Several Easy Anti-Cheat games fail: Investigate Windows, drivers, security-software blocks, and platform configuration rather than repeatedly changing Apex files.
- Apex works through one launcher but not the other: Treat it as a launcher or installation-path issue. Use the repair workflow for the launcher that manages that installation.
- You play on console: The Windows file path and PC launcher steps here do not apply; use the console’s update, restart, reinstall, and account-support options.
- You play on Linux, Steam Deck, or through a compatibility layer: These Windows instructions are not transferable. Consult Steam’s separate launch guidance for Linux rather than applying PC file or service fixes.
What to avoid
- Unofficial Easy Anti-Cheat downloads or “Apex anti-cheat fix” executables.
- Registry cleaners, driver-updater programs, or unverified repair utilities.
- Deleting the entire Easy Anti-Cheat folder, unrelated `.sys` files, or anything in
C:WindowsSystem32. - Permanently disabling antivirus, firewall, Windows security features, or Secure Boot.
- Launch options, cracked executables, or other tools that claim to bypass Anti-Cheat.
- Repeatedly deleting Anti-Cheat files without first repairing or verifying Apex.
Older community instructions may refer to Origin or legacy file layouts; they are not a substitute for EA’s current Apex error guidance. Avoid destructive procedures from old forum posts unless EA support confirms they apply to your installation.
Contact EA if the error persists
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, report it through EA technical support or the relevant EA Forums channel. Include the exact message and code, whether you use Steam or the EA app, your Windows version, when the problem began, any recent game or system changes, and which troubleshooting steps you completed. If the same error returns after each reboot or affects other Anti-Cheat games, say so; that helps distinguish an Apex installation problem from a wider system conflict.
