Open the video, select Share, then choose Copy link. Paste the link into a message, document, or other app. On a computer, you can also copy the video page’s address from your browser’s address bar.
Find a YouTube video URL on a computer
Share-menu method:
- Open the video’s YouTube watch page.
- Click Share below the player.
- Choose Copy or Copy link.
- Paste it with Ctrl + V on Windows or Linux, or Command + V on Mac.
YouTube documents the Share menu’s Copy option for video links. See YouTube’s instructions for sharing videos.
You can also copy the address-bar URL: open the video page, press Ctrl + L and then Ctrl + C on Windows or Linux, or press Command + L and then Command + C on Mac. This copies the current browser page address. The Share method is usually simpler for a clean video link; the address bar is handy if Share is unavailable or you want to inspect the URL.
Find a YouTube URL on Android
- Open the YouTube app and select the video.
- Tap Share below the player.
- Tap Copy link, then paste it into the app where you want to use it.
If Copy link is not immediately shown, swipe through the Share options or tap More. You can also choose a messaging or email app directly from the share panel. The available labels and their placement can vary by app version and device. YouTube’s mobile sharing instructions describe this workflow.

Find a YouTube URL on iPhone or iPad
- Open the video in the YouTube app.
- Tap Share.
- Tap Copy link, then paste the link into Messages, Mail, Notes, or another destination.
If the copy option is hidden, check the other options in the share panel or open the video in a browser and copy its address from the address bar. The interface can change with YouTube app and iOS updates.
Copy a link that starts at a specific time
To direct someone to a particular moment, use YouTube’s timestamp controls rather than editing the URL yourself.
On a computer: Open the video, click Share, enable Start at, enter or adjust the time (for example, 2:30), then click Copy.

On mobile: Go to the moment you want to share, tap Share, enable the minute-and-second timestamp option if it appears, and copy the link. The exact control label can vary. YouTube documents timestamp sharing in its video-sharing instructions.
Paste and test the link before sending it. A timestamp may not behave identically for a live stream, an edited video, or a video whose availability has changed. If it starts at the wrong point, return to the video, set the time with YouTube’s control, and copy a fresh link.
Find the URL of a YouTube Short
Open the Short, select Share, and choose Copy link. If the control is hard to find, use the browser address bar on a computer or look for More in the mobile share panel. Shorts can appear in different layouts, so the URL format and control placement may vary. Make sure you have copied the specific Short, not the Shorts feed or a channel page.

Copy the link to an embedded YouTube video
If a video is playing inside another website, that site’s address bar usually shows the host website’s page URL—not the YouTube video URL. Look for a YouTube logo, video title, Watch on YouTube link, or player menu and open the video’s YouTube page. Then use Share → Copy link or copy the address from the new page’s address bar. If the embedded player itself has a Share control, that may also provide the video link.

- Paste the link somewhere you can inspect it. A valid YouTube link may have different URL formats and can include extra characters or parameters; it does not have to match one exact pattern.
- Open it, if practical, and confirm it leads to the intended video—not a search result, channel, playlist, or the surrounding website.
- If you meant to share a particular moment, check that the link retains the timestamp and starts near that point.
- Remember that a working URL does not grant viewing permission. Private, age-restricted, region-restricted, deleted, or account-restricted videos may not be available to the recipient.
If the link or Share button is not working
You copied the wrong page: Open the video’s dedicated YouTube page and use Share → Copy link again. A link copied from search results, a channel, or a host website may not point to the video itself.
Share is missing: The video may be embedded, the page may still be loading, or the interface may be different. Open the video directly on YouTube, expand a narrow browser window, check the player’s menu, or copy the watch page’s address from the browser bar. If the app controls appear broken, restarting or updating the app may help.

The recipient cannot watch: Check whether the video is private or otherwise restricted, removed, or unavailable in the recipient’s region. Copying a link does not change those access settings. For an unlisted video, the recipient needs the correct link.
The timestamp is wrong: Set the desired moment again with YouTube’s built-in timestamp option and copy a new link. Avoid manually changing URL characters, which can introduce formatting mistakes.
You are following an old Clip tutorial: Since April 2026, YouTube says timestamp sharing is replacing the creation of new Clips. Use Start at or Share at Timestamp for a new link to a particular moment. Existing Clips remain viewable. YouTube’s Clips help page and its TeamYouTube announcement describe the transition.

Link, download, and offline viewing are different
Copy link copies a web address; it does not download or save the video file. Sharing a URL, saving a video for offline viewing, downloading a video, and sharing a timestamp are separate actions with different availability and permissions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I copy a YouTube video URL without signing in?
In many ordinary viewing situations, you can copy a public video’s link without owning the video or signing in. Availability can vary by video, device, and app state, and some account-specific features may require sign-in.
Can I share a private YouTube video with a link?
A link does not change a video’s visibility or access rules. A private video remains limited to viewers authorized by its owner; a recipient may not be able to watch it just because they have the URL.

Yes. Open the playlist and use its Share option if you intend to share the playlist. To share one specific video, open that video’s page and copy its link instead.
