Most plug-in Wyze cameras reset with the physical SETUP button, but the hold time and status-light signal vary by model. Before resetting, save any footage you need and remove the microSD card. Then use the instructions below for your exact camera—not a one-size-fits-all sequence.
Before you reset
- Save recordings you want to keep. Copy important footage from the microSD card before removing it. A physical reset clears device settings; Wyze’s instructions do not establish that it deletes cloud recordings from your account.
- Remove the microSD card. Wyze calls for this in the procedures for several current models, and it keeps locally stored footage separate from the reset process.
- Note what you will need to restore: the camera name, Wi-Fi network and password, and any settings you want to reapply.
- If you are troubleshooting and the app still works, consider submitting a Wyze log before resetting. Wyze recommends this for some newer models.
A factory reset clears the camera’s settings and prior Wi-Fi/setup state. For current Cam v4, Pan v3, and Pan v4 instructions, Wyze says the installed firmware remains in place; a reset is not a firmware rollback.
Find your model and use its reset procedure
Check the camera’s label, original packaging, or device listing in the Wyze app to identify its model. These instructions cover the wired Wyze Cam and Cam Pan models listed below. Battery-powered cameras, doorbells, and other Wyze devices may use different controls; do not assume the wired-camera steps apply to them.

For each model, start by removing the microSD card and powering on the camera. Use the specific steps below, then wait for the ready-to-connect light before setting it up again.

Wyze Cam v1, v2, and Pan v1
- With the camera plugged in, press and hold SETUP for 10 seconds on Cam v2 or Pan v1. For Cam v1, hold it for 20 seconds.
- Wait at least 30 seconds for the camera to initialize. Wyze says this can rarely take up to 5 minutes.
- Cam v1, v2, and Pan v1 should show a blinking yellow light when ready for setup.

Wyze Cam v3
- Keep the camera plugged in and hold the bottom SETUP button for 10 seconds.
- Wait at least 30 seconds; allow up to 5 minutes in case initialization is delayed.
- The light changes from solid red to flashing red when the camera is ready to set up again.

Wyze Cam v4
- Remove the microSD card and make sure the camera is powered on.
- Pull the base away from the bottom to reach the SETUP button.
- Hold the button for 10 seconds, continuing until the status light turns red.
- Release the button and wait for the light to flash red, then add the camera as a new device.
A quick tap is not a reset. Consult Wyze’s Cam v4 procedure if the button or light behavior differs.

Wyze Cam Pan v3
- Remove the microSD card and plug in the camera. Rotate the lens upward if needed to access the setup area.
- Press and hold SETUP continuously for about 10–20 seconds.
- Watch for the light to turn solid red and then flash red. Wait for the reset to finish before trying setup.
Wyze’s Pan v3 support material uses inconsistent wording in one troubleshooting step about pressing versus holding. Its dedicated reset instructions say to press and hold; use a continuous hold rather than a brief tap. See Wyze’s Pan v3 reset page.
Wyze Cam Pan v4
- Remove the microSD card and power on the camera.
- Hold the SETUP button underneath the camera for 10–20 seconds, until the status light turns red.
- Wait at least 30 seconds for flashing red and setup readiness. Initialization can rarely take up to 5 minutes; the camera may rotate as it initializes.

Set the camera up again
When the status light indicates setup readiness, open the Wyze app, tap the + control, choose the matching camera model, and follow the prompts. Connect your phone to the Wi-Fi network you intend to use, enter its password carefully, and complete the QR-code or in-app pairing step if prompted. Rename the camera and restore any settings you noted before the reset.

Wi-Fi band compatibility varies by camera model, so check the instructions for your specific device rather than assuming every Wyze camera supports the same bands. If setup fails, update the app and confirm that your phone is on the intended network.

No light or other sign of power
- Check that the outlet works.
- Use the supplied power adapter and cable if available; otherwise try a known-good compatible cable, adapter, and outlet.
- Unplug the camera for 5–10 seconds and reconnect it.
- Remove the microSD card, then retry the model-specific button hold.
If there is still no light, suspect a power or hardware problem rather than assuming the reset failed. Wyze’s Cam v4 power troubleshooting recommends checking the supplied accessories and trying another outlet, cable, or adapter.

The light does not reach the expected state
Check that you have the correct model and button, held the button continuously for the full model-specific time, removed the microSD card, and left the camera powered on. A camera may still be initializing, so wait at least 30 seconds—and up to 5 minutes in rare cases. If the expected light never appears after those checks, power or hardware trouble may be involved.

- Update the Wyze app and verify the Wi-Fi password.
- Keep the phone and camera close to the router during setup. Wyze suggests roughly 6–10 feet for some current models.
- Forget and rejoin the Wi-Fi network on your phone, then retry setup.
- Reboot the router and power-cycle the camera.
- Check your model’s Wi-Fi requirements; band support is not identical across the product range.

Factory reset, app removal, and firmware recovery are different
A physical factory reset clears camera settings and previous setup state. Removing a camera from the Wyze app is a separate action; it is not a substitute for the physical reset when a camera cannot connect or is being handed to another person. Wyze’s documentation supports clearing the device settings and setup state, but does not establish that a reset erases every historical account record.
Manual firmware flashing is different again: it replaces firmware using a microSD card, adapter, and computer. It is an advanced recovery method, not the normal next step after a reset. Try the model-specific reset and power checks first. Wyze explains the equipment and process in its manual firmware-flashing guide.
Before selling or giving away a camera
- Export footage you want to keep.
- Remove the microSD card; do not pass it along unless you intend to share its contents or have deliberately cleared it.
- Factory reset the camera using its model-specific procedure and confirm that it reaches the ready-to-connect state.
- Have the new owner add it as a new device to their own Wyze account.
A reset clears device settings and setup state, but do not treat it as proof that every record associated with the camera has disappeared from an account.
