To include a data table in an amCharts PDF, use the Exporting API for your chart version: in amCharts 5, give the exporter a populated dataSource and set pdfOptions.includeData: true; in amCharts 4, export with addData: true. In amCharts 5, you can also choose and order table columns with dataFields and dataFieldsOrder, and set page size, orientation, and margins under pdfOptions.
Check your amCharts version first
The export option names changed between amCharts 4 and 5, so use the API that matches the version running on your page. The key distinction is that amCharts 5 uses an Exporting plugin, while amCharts 4 exposes export methods through the chart’s exporting object.
| Version | How to start a PDF export | Include the table | Column and page controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| amCharts 5 | Create an Exporting instance from @amcharts/amcharts5/plugins/exporting (or its browser plugin). |
dataSource plus pdfOptions.includeData: true |
dataFields, dataFieldsOrder, and PDF settings in pdfOptions |
| amCharts 4 | Call chart.exporting.export("pdf", options), or offer an ExportMenu. |
addData: true |
addColumnNames controls the header row; the supplied amCharts 4 material does not specify page-format options here. |
In both versions, the PDF can combine a chart image with a data table. The table is driven by data supplied to the export process; enabling PDF export alone does not guarantee that a table will appear.
Export an amCharts 5 table to PDF
Load the amCharts 5 Exporting plugin, create the chart’s root as usual, and pass the rows you want exported as dataSource. Set includeData to true in pdfOptions to include those rows in the PDF.
#1 Best Overall
const data = [
{ category: "Apples", value: 12 },
{ category: "Oranges", value: 8 }
];
const exporting = am5plugins_exporting.Exporting.new(root, {
menu: am5plugins_exporting.ExportingMenu.new(root, {}),
dataSource: data,
title: "Fruit sales",
pdfOptions: {
includeData: true,
pageSize: "LETTER",
pageOrientation: "landscape",
pageMargins: [20, 20, 20, 40]
}
});
This is the browser-plugin style shown by amCharts, where am5plugins_exporting and root are already available. If your app uses modules, import the Exporting plugin from @amcharts/amcharts5/plugins/exporting and use the imported plugin’s Exporting and ExportingMenu members. The example assumes the chart root and the data array have already been created.
The exporter builds a PDF document containing the chart image and/or data table, with optional items such as a title and source URL. The table is not necessarily a screenshot of an HTML table elsewhere on the page: dataSource supplies the data used by the exporter. Make sure it contains the rows and values you intend readers to receive.
Select, rename, and order table columns
Use dataFields to map data keys to table headings. For example, { category: "Category", value: "Value" } selects those fields and gives them readable column names. Set dataFieldsOrder when the order should be explicit rather than left to default handling:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteconst exporting = am5plugins_exporting.Exporting.new(root, {
dataSource: data,
dataFields: {
category: "Category",
value: "Value"
},
dataFieldsOrder: ["category", "value"],
pdfOptions: {
includeData: true
}
});
Use the keys from your data objects in both settings. If you rename a field in dataFields, the mapped text becomes the table heading; dataFieldsOrder uses the original field keys to specify which selected column comes first. Check that each key exists in the objects passed through dataSource. A misspelled or absent key cannot provide the intended values.

Set page size, orientation, and margins
Configure page layout inside pdfOptions. The example uses pageSize: "LETTER", pageOrientation: "landscape", and pageMargins: [20, 20, 20, 40]. Use landscape when the chart and its columns need more horizontal space; use portrait when a narrower layout is more appropriate. The supplied amCharts material identifies these settings but does not define a complete catalog of accepted page-size values or margin units, so verify any additional values against the documentation for the exact amCharts version you deploy.
Margins are specified as four entries in the example. Adjust them to suit the document layout, then inspect the exported PDF: a wide table can still be difficult to read if too many columns compete for the available page width.
Customize the generated PDF document
For advanced PDF changes, listen for pdfdocready and modify the pdfmake document definition before download. This is a lower-level customization point than the standard table and page options, so keep custom code aligned with the pdfmake version bundled by your amCharts release. amCharts 5.18.0 began bundling pdfmake 0.3 instead of 0.2; code that accesses pdfmake directly may therefore need version-aware adjustments.

Export an amCharts 4 table to PDF
In amCharts 4, call the chart’s built-in export API and enable table output with addData. Set addColumnNames if the exported table should include a header row. The following example omits the source-page URL header:
Rank #3
chart.exporting.export("pdf", {
addData: true,
addColumnNames: true,
addURL: false
});
Here chart is your existing chart instance. addData: true asks the PDF export to include the chart data table alongside the image, and addColumnNames: true includes column names. Set addURL according to whether the source-page URL should appear in the PDF header.
Offer PDF export through an ExportMenu
If users should choose an export format from a chart menu rather than trigger PDF export from your own control, enable the amCharts 4 menu:
chart.exporting.menu = new am4core.ExportMenu();
The menu setup and the direct call use the same chart export system. Configure the PDF options for the export action so the data table and, if desired, column names are included. The amCharts 4 options covered here do not establish equivalent column-mapping or page-orientation controls to the amCharts 5 settings above; do not assume that an amCharts 5 option name works in amCharts 4.
Or skip the browser setup
If your goal is a clean visual capture of a chart page rather than amCharts’ data-table PDF export, ScreenshotNeo can return a website screenshot or PDF. It is not a replacement for configuring amCharts to include structured table data. Its clean-shot processing accepts cookie banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Bot checks and CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed; response headers report the page verdict and billing status. An MCP server provides screenshot tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots. Every feature is available on every plan.
For API setup and options, see the ScreenshotNeo documentation. This cURL example captures a visual screenshot of Stripe as WebP; it does not produce an amCharts data table PDF:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

The PDF has a chart but no table
- In amCharts 5, confirm that the exporter receives a populated
dataSourceand thatpdfOptions.includeDataistrue. - In amCharts 4, confirm that the PDF export options include
addData: true. - Check that the array is populated at the time export runs, not merely later in the page lifecycle.
Columns are missing, misnamed, or in the wrong order
- For amCharts 5, compare every
dataFieldskey with the keys in thedataSourceobjects. UsedataFieldsOrderto make the desired order explicit. - For amCharts 4, inspect the chart’s data fields and series names and confirm that column names are enabled with
addColumnNames: truewhen needed. - Check a small export with representative rows before relying on a large dataset, especially after changing the source data shape.
Export fails on a local file or images disappear
Serve the page over HTTP or HTTPS rather than opening it only as file:///. Browser security can treat local or cross-origin images as tainted, which may cause images to be omitted or export options not to work. If the chart uses images from another host, check that those assets load successfully and that browser security restrictions are not preventing their use in the export.
The output differs after an amCharts 5 upgrade
If custom code reaches into pdfmake, check the bundled version for the amCharts release you are using. The documented switch in amCharts 5.18.0 from pdfmake 0.2 to 0.3 is particularly relevant to direct pdfmake customization; it is not a reason by itself to change the normal includeData option.
Choose the right export path
Use amCharts’ own Exporting API when the PDF needs both the chart and its data table, or when readers need the table represented as document data rather than just pixels. For amCharts 5, start with dataSource, includeData, and any required field and page settings. For amCharts 4, start with addData and addColumnNames. Use a screenshot-to-PDF service only when the requirement is a visual page capture, not a structured amCharts table.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can amCharts export a PDF containing both the chart and its data table?
Yes. The amCharts Exporting process can populate a PDF with a chart image and/or data table; enable the table option for the amCharts version in use.
Does the amCharts 5 table come from the chart image?
No. The table data is supplied through the exporter’s data source; the PDF can include the chart image as a separate element.
