To control whether your Threads posts can be recommended on Instagram, open Threads and go to Profile → Menu → Privacy → Suggesting posts on other apps. Under Allow your posts to be suggested on, change the Instagram control. This setting affects recommendations of your posts; it does not control which Threads posts you see on Instagram.
Before you start
Use the Threads app on Android or iPhone and make sure you have the right Threads profile open. The documented mobile path begins in Threads, not Instagram. Meta may rename or move settings, and labels can vary by app version, account, language, or region. See Meta’s instructions for managing Threads post suggestions.
The setting controls whether Meta may recommend your Threads posts on Instagram. It is not automatic cross-posting: turning it on does not publish each Threads post as an Instagram post.
How to enable suggestions of your Threads posts on Instagram
- Open the Threads app.
- Tap your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the Menu button in the top-right corner.
- Tap Privacy, then Suggesting posts on other apps.
- Under Allow your posts to be suggested on, enable the Instagram control.
The surrounding label explains what the control does. Switch colors and icons can differ across versions, so do not rely on a particular color to identify whether it is enabled.

How to disable suggestions of your Threads posts on Instagram
- In Threads, open Profile → Menu → Privacy → Suggesting posts on other apps.
- Under Allow your posts to be suggested on, disable Instagram.
- Leave the screen and reopen it to check that the selected state has remained.
Meta describes this as opting out of having your Threads posts suggested on the selected app. The help page does not promise that content already shown will disappear immediately; an earlier recommendation may remain visible, or the post may appear through a separate share.
What the setting changes—and what it does not

Meta says public Threads posts may be suggested on Instagram or Facebook so people can discover and interact with the account. Recommendation eligibility does not mean every post will be shown. For details, see Meta’s guidance on suggestions across apps.

If you meant “stop seeing Threads posts on Instagram”
This is the opposite direction: the Threads switch controls whether your posts may be suggested to people on Instagram. It is not a universal viewer-side switch for hiding other people’s Threads posts from your Instagram feed.

If “Suggesting posts on other apps” is missing
First check that you are in Threads rather than Instagram and that the intended profile is open. If the option is still absent, try these steps:
- Update Threads using your device’s official app store.
- Force-close and reopen the app, then check Profile → Menu → Privacy again.
- Look for a similar label if your language or app version differs.
- If it remains unavailable, sign out and back in only if you know your account credentials.
- Use Threads’ in-app problem-reporting option if the setting still does not appear.
Meta’s documented route is for the Android and iPhone apps; it is not a guaranteed desktop or web setting. Interfaces and feature availability can differ by rollout or account. Meta’s Threads settings index provides broader settings context.

Does making your Threads profile private do the same thing?
No. A private profile changes who can access your Threads content, while the suggestion control manages whether public Threads content may be suggested on other Meta products. Neither control should be treated as a complete guarantee against every reference to a post elsewhere: someone may share or reshare content independently. Review your profile privacy, followers, and interaction controls separately if you want to limit your Threads audience. Meta explains the distinction in its Threads profile privacy guidance.
