Short answer: Open edge://settings/appearance and look for a rounded-corner or “new look” switch. If it is missing, check your Edge version at edge://settings/help. The older Microsoft Edge rounded corners flag may still work on older builds, but it has been reported as removed beginning with Edge 149. On newer builds, undocumented shortcut parameters may reduce the effect, but they are temporary workarounds rather than supported Edge settings.
First identify which corners you want to change
“Rounded corners in Edge” can describe several different effects:
- Outer window corners: the Edge window follows the visual style of Windows.
- Inner page corners or margin: the web page appears inset from the browser frame, often leaving a white, gray or colored border.
- Rounded tabs and controls: individual interface elements may remain rounded even when the page surface changes.
- Rounded website content: cards, images, buttons and containers styled by a website’s own CSS are unrelated to Edge’s browser-frame settings.
Microsoft describes ongoing layout and visual changes for Edge on both Windows 10 and Windows 11; the available controls can vary by Edge build, Windows version, theme and rollout stage. See Microsoft’s visual-changes documentation.
Check the supported Appearance setting
- Open Edge’s menu with Settings and more (…).
- Select Settings, then Appearance, or open
edge://settings/appearance. - Look for a setting such as Try the new look and feel of Microsoft Edge or Use rounded corners for browser windows.
- Turn the setting off to reduce the new treatment, or on to enable it, then restart Edge.
The wording and availability are version-dependent. If no related option appears, that does not by itself indicate a faulty installation; continue with the version and flag checks below. Organization-managed installations can also hide or restrict controls.

Check your Edge version before using older instructions
Open edge://settings/help, or choose Settings and more (…) > Help and feedback > About Microsoft Edge. Record the complete version number and install any offered update. Microsoft documents this update path at Microsoft Edge update settings.
Community reports say the rounded-corners flag disappeared beginning with Edge 149, including reported build 149.0.4022.52. Microsoft’s release notes date Edge 149 to June 4, 2026 and Edge 150 to July 2, 2026, but those notes do not themselves document removal of the flag. Treat the removal point as a reported version boundary, not a guaranteed behavior for every channel or build.
Legacy method: use the rounded-corners flag when it exists
This method applies only to Edge versions that still display the flag.
- Enter
edge://flags/in the address bar. - Search for Microsoft Edge rounded corners.
- Choose Disabled to turn the design off, Enabled to turn it on, or Default to return to Edge’s built-in behavior.
- Select Relaunch.
Flags are experimental. If the search returns no result, do not try to recreate it or assume that an update failed; newer Edge builds may simply no longer include it. The reported removal is discussed in Microsoft Q&A.
Current Edge workaround: add an undocumented shortcut parameter
For Edge 149 or later, where both the Appearance switch and flag are absent, Microsoft Q&A participants and community users have reported that this launch parameter may suppress some or all of the rounded page margin:

It is an internal implementation switch, not a documented Edge preference or enterprise policy. Its behavior can change or disappear after an update.
Apply the parameter to an Edge shortcut
- Close Edge windows.
- Right-click the Edge shortcut you actually use and select Properties.
- On the Shortcut tab, click in Target and save the original value somewhere.
- Move to the end of the existing command. Add one space followed by the parameter, after the executable’s closing quotation mark.
Example:
"C:Program Files (x86)MicrosoftEdgeApplicationmsedge.exe" --enable-features=msForceNoRoundedCornerAndMargin

- Start Edge from that modified shortcut.
The leading space is required, and the switch must be outside the closing quotation mark around msedge.exe.
Optional combined form
One reported variant also disables a rounded omnibox focus treatment:
--enable-features=msForceNoRoundedCornerAndMargin --disable-features=msOmniboxFocusRingRoundEmphasize

Another reported experiment is:
--disable-features=msFeatureGroupNewLookAndFeelHoldout
Example:
"C:Program Files (x86)MicrosoftEdgeApplicationmsedge.exe" --disable-features=msFeatureGroupNewLookAndFeelHoldout
This may alter the new look but leave an unwanted white border, according to a report about build 149.0.4022.52. It is not a universal fix; remove it if the result is worse. See the related Microsoft Q&A report.
Make sure Edge is fully closed before testing
Edge can keep background processes running, so a changed shortcut may appear ineffective.

- Exit Edge from its menu if that option is available.
- Save work in other applications, then press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
- End remaining
msedge.exeprocesses. - Reopen Edge using the shortcut you modified.
Only end Edge processes after saving open work. Also check that you edited the shortcut you launch: desktop, taskbar, Start menu, a pinned site or a work-profile shortcut can point to different launch paths.
Undo the shortcut workaround
- Right-click the modified shortcut and select Properties.
- In Target, remove everything after the closing quotation mark around
msedge.exe. - Select Apply, then OK.
- Fully exit Edge, including remaining background processes, and restart it.
Repeat this for any other shortcut that contains the parameter. Changing one shortcut does not change every way Edge can be launched.

The flag is missing
This is expected on many newer builds, particularly those beginning with Edge 149. Use the Appearance check and version page rather than searching repeatedly for an option your build no longer contains.
The switch appears to do nothing
- Edge was still running in the background.
- You edited a shortcut that is not being used.
- The parameter was placed inside the executable’s quotation marks.
- Edge was started through another shortcut or an automatic startup path.
- Your current build no longer honors the internal feature name.
- The visible rounding belongs to the website rather than Edge.
A white border remains
The alternative msFeatureGroupNewLookAndFeelHoldout parameter has been reported to leave an unwanted border. Remove it and test the other reported parameter, or restore the original shortcut if neither result is acceptable.
The computer is managed by an organization
Policies may hide settings or prevent shortcut changes. Contact your administrator rather than attempting registry edits or replacing Edge files.

You are using Windows 10
Do not assume this feature is Windows 11-only. Microsoft’s visual-changes information covers Windows 10 and Windows 11, while the exact appearance depends mainly on the Edge build and rollout.
The rounded parts are on websites
Edge’s browser settings cannot remove CSS-designed cards, buttons, images or containers. Use the site’s own theme or accessibility options, or a site-specific solution.
What to do after a future Edge update
- Open
edge://settings/helpand note the new version. - Check
edge://settings/appearancefor a restored, renamed or removed option. - Check
edge://flags/only to see whether the legacy flag has returned. - Remove obsolete launch parameters if they cause glitches or stop having an effect.
- Test a new Edge profile only to rule out profile-specific configuration.
- Send feedback through Edge’s feedback mechanism if you need a supported permanent choice.
No verified supported registry method has been established for restoring the old square, edge-to-edge layout. Avoid third-party “Edge UI fixers,” registry files, patched executables and unknown scripts.

Current status
On older Edge builds, the rounded-corners flag can still provide a simple on/off choice. On current builds where the flag and Appearance switch are absent, there may be no supported permanent control that restores the former square content layout. The shortcut parameters above are unofficial, build-dependent workarounds and may stop working after an update.
