There is no dependable built-in WordPress block for a complete Facebook album anymore. For a Page album gallery, use a WordPress social-feed or gallery plugin whose current listing explicitly supports Facebook Page albums, then verify permissions, album visibility, and frontend output. Meta’s official Meta Embeds plugin is useful for individual public Facebook posts and reels, but its documented formats do not include albums.

Why the old Facebook album embed instructions fail

Many tutorials still describe selecting WordPress’s Facebook block and pasting an album URL. That workflow depended on Facebook’s oEmbed endpoint. WordPress documentation records that Meta closed the relevant endpoint on October 24, 2020. The documentation page still mentions posts, photos, albums, and videos as historical content types, but warns that the block stopped working without authenticated endpoint access.

An editor preview is not proof that an album will render for visitors. Always check the published or publicly accessible page in a logged-out browser.

A bespoke gallery integrated into your own theme or application Custom oEmbed/provider integration Requires development work. WordPress supports registering additional providers, but the available sources do not establish a current public Meta album oEmbed endpoint.

Method 1: Embed a public post or reel with Meta Embeds

Use this method when the content is an individual post or reel rather than an album gallery.

  1. In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New.
  2. Search for Meta Embeds, install the official plugin, and activate it.
  3. Open the post or page where the Facebook content should appear.
  4. Paste the supported public Facebook post or reel URL on its own line in the block editor. The same URL-paste approach can be used in the classic editor where embeds are enabled.
  5. Save or publish, then test the frontend page while logged out.

The plugin readme describes a tokenless flow: no Meta developer account, app creation, access token, or API-key setup is required for its supported embeds. WordPress makes a server-side oEmbed request and the rendered page loads Meta’s SDK.

Compatibility to check

The current Meta Embeds readme states requirements of WordPress 5.9 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. Those requirements are version-specific; check the plugin’s current readme before installing on an older site.

Why this does not solve album galleries

Meta Embeds documents Facebook posts and reels as supported URL formats. Albums are not listed, so do not promise visitors a multi-photo album gallery through this plugin.

Method 2: Use a social-feed plugin that states it supports Page albums

For multiple photos or albums from a Facebook Page, evaluate a dedicated social-feed or gallery plugin. The Easy Social Feed listing on WordPress.org says it can display Facebook Page albums.

  1. In Plugins → Add New, search for the plugin and read its current WordPress.org description and changelog.
  2. Confirm that the feature is specifically Facebook Page albums, not only single posts, thumbnails, or an image feed.
  3. Install and activate it, then follow its connection screen to select the intended Facebook Page.
  4. Review the permissions requested by Meta and grant only the access needed for the connected Page.
  5. Select the album or album feed in the plugin’s settings, place its supplied block, shortcode, or widget in the desired page area, and save.
  6. Publish the page and test it in a logged-out browser and on a phone.

Checks before you publish

  • The album and its photos are visible to the public audience your site visitors use.
  • The connected account still has the required permission for the Page.
  • The plugin’s current release supports your WordPress and PHP versions.
  • The gallery works with your theme’s content width, caching layer, and cookie or script controls.
  • Images, captions, links, and pagination behave as expected on the published page.

Meta controls access to Page data, so a plugin’s feature claim is not a guarantee that every Page, account, or album will work. A permission change, private album, disconnected Page, or plugin update can stop the feed.

Method 3: Build a custom integration

A developer can create a tailored album display, but this is not a simple copy-and-paste embed. WordPress’s oEmbed administration documentation explains that additional providers can be registered with wp_oembed_add_provider(). A custom implementation must register an appropriate provider or handler, obtain and process the provider response, render the gallery safely, and handle authentication, caching, errors, and changes to Meta’s platform.

The available documentation confirms WordPress’s provider-registration mechanism; it does not confirm that Meta currently offers a public album oEmbed endpoint. Do not hard-code an endpoint based on an old tutorial. Establish the current Meta access method and terms before development begins.

Troubleshoot a blank or missing album

The old Facebook block shows an error

That is expected for many legacy instructions after the October 24, 2020 endpoint closure. Move to an album-capable social-feed plugin or a maintained custom integration.

Meta Embeds works for a post but not an album

That behavior matches the plugin’s documented scope: posts and reels are listed; albums are not. Use an album-specific solution.

The plugin connects but shows no photos

  • Check that the selected object is a Facebook Page album and is publicly visible.
  • Reconnect the Page and review whether Meta withdrew or changed a permission.
  • Clear the plugin and site cache, then retest the frontend while logged out.
  • Check the plugin’s support notes and current changelog for compatibility or API changes.

The editor preview looks correct but visitors see nothing

Test the published URL without being signed in to Facebook or WordPress. Script blockers, consent settings, caching, or a non-public album can affect what visitors receive.

Bottom line

For a Facebook album gallery, do not rely on WordPress’s historical Facebook block or claim that Meta Embeds supports albums. Start with a maintained social-feed plugin whose current listing explicitly names Facebook Page albums, verify Page permissions and public visibility, and test the published page. Choose Meta Embeds when the requirement is only an individual public post or reel; choose custom development only when you need control beyond what a maintained plugin provides.
