You can edit a Disney+ profile’s name, avatar, language, playback settings, and parental controls from Profile → Edit Profile. You can also permanently delete a secondary profile from the same screen. The primary profile cannot be deleted.
Quick answer
- Edit: Open Disney+, choose Profile, select Edit Profile, choose a profile, change its settings, and select Save.
- Delete: Open Profile → Edit Profile, choose the profile, select Delete Profile, and confirm.
Disney says profile deletion is permanent. A deleted profile cannot be recovered. These instructions are based on Disney’s current profile-management guidance; labels and available settings may vary by country, device, profile age, account configuration, and app version.

How to edit a Disney+ profile
- Open Disney+ and select the current Profile icon.
- Select Edit Profile or Edit Profiles.
- Choose the profile you want to change.
- Update the available settings.
- Select Save.
Depending on your region and account, the editing screen may include:
- Profile name
- Avatar
- App language
- Autoplay
- Background Video
- Content rating
- Profile PIN
- Junior Mode
- Kid-Proof Exit
Some Disney+ markets also show additional demographic or content-related controls. Do not assume that every profile or device will display the same fields.

Change a profile name
Go to Profile → Edit Profile → select the profile → Profile Name, enter the new name, and select Save. Disney’s current help documentation says profile names can be no longer than 30 characters and may not accept certain special characters. If the name is rejected, shorten it and try simpler letters or numbers.
Change a profile avatar
Open the profile editor, select Avatar, choose one of the available Disney+ character icons, and save the change. The available artwork can vary by market and may change over time.
Change the app language
Open Profile → Edit Profile → select the profile → App Language, choose a language, and select Save. This changes the language associated with that profile rather than necessarily changing your device’s system language.

Change Autoplay or Background Video
In the profile editor, select the profile and change Autoplay or Background Video, then save. These are profile settings, and their availability or labels may differ by device and region.

How to change Disney+ parental controls
Disney directs users to a supported web browser or the mobile app for several parental-control settings. Open the profile list, choose Edit Profiles, select the profile, and look under Parental Controls.
Change the content rating
- Select Content rating under Parental Controls.
- Enter the account password.
- Choose the permitted rating.
- Select Save.
Disney says titles above the selected rating will not appear while browsing or searching that profile. However, content-rating settings do not necessarily prevent titles from appearing in on-service promotions.
A content rating limits what the profile can browse; it is not the same as locking the profile with a PIN or placing it in Junior Mode.
Set, change, remove, or reset a profile PIN
- Open Edit Profiles in the Disney+ mobile app or a supported browser.
- Select the profile.
- Choose Profile PIN under Parental Controls.
- Enter the account password and select Continue.
- Enter, change, or remove the four-digit PIN.
- Select Save.
If you forgot the PIN, select Forgot your PIN? when prompted, verify the account with the account password, and reset it. A profile PIN helps prevent someone from opening the profile; it does not itself limit the maturity rating of the content shown there.

Turn Junior Mode on or off
To enable Junior Mode, open Edit Profiles, select the profile, turn on Junior Mode, and complete the save or exit prompt. To disable it, open the same setting, turn Junior Mode off, enter the account password when asked, and select Done or the equivalent control.
The primary profile cannot be set to Junior Mode. Disney also says Junior Mode profiles cannot use adjustable content ratings because Junior Mode already limits the interface to content selected for younger viewers.
Turn on Kid-Proof Exit
In the mobile app or a supported browser, open Edit Profiles, select the relevant profile, turn on Kid-Proof Exit, and enter the account password if requested. The feature adds an exit challenge before a child can leave Junior Mode.

- Select the current Profile icon.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Choose the profile you want to remove.
- Select Delete Profile.
- Confirm the deletion.
Check the profile name and avatar carefully before confirming. Disney says deletion is permanent, and the deleted profile cannot be recovered. The documentation confirms the action is irreversible but does not define every item removed, so do not delete a profile if you may need its personalization or profile-specific history later.

Why can’t I delete a Disney+ profile?
The most likely reason is that you selected the primary profile. Disney creates this profile when the subscription is set up, and it cannot be deleted. It can only be edited.
If the delete option is missing for a secondary profile:
- Confirm that you selected the intended profile and that it is not the primary profile.
- Try Disney+ in a web browser or the mobile app if the TV interface does not show the control.
- Update or restart the Disney+ app.
- Sign out and sign back in to refresh the account state.
- Contact Disney+ support if a secondary profile still cannot be removed.
For PINs, content ratings, and Junior Mode, use a supported browser or the mobile app if the TV app does not expose the required setting.

No. The primary profile cannot be deleted or changed to Junior Mode. If you simply want different personal details, edit its name, avatar, language, or other available settings. If you want to stop using Disney+ entirely, cancel the subscription or follow Disney’s separate account-deletion process.

Deleting a profile does not cancel Disney+
Deleting a secondary profile only removes that profile. It does not cancel billing, end the subscription, or delete the Disney+ account. To stop charges, use Disney’s subscription-management process. If you subscribed through a third party, Disney says you may need to manage the subscription through that provider; see its subscription and account guidance.
Closing the entire account is a separate action. See Disney’s account-management FAQ rather than deleting an individual profile.
Should you delete or transfer the profile?

Profile Transfer can preserve a profile’s watch history and settings when someone moves to a new subscription. It is permanent and cannot be undone. The account holder must approve the request, and the approval request remains available for up to seven days.

How many Disney+ profiles can you have?
Disney’s current US profile guidance says one subscription can have up to seven profiles total: the primary profile plus six additional profiles. The number and available controls may be subject to Disney’s current account rules and regional configuration.
