The fastest way to display Facebook Page reviews in WordPress is to use an API-backed plugin: connect a Page you administer, authorize the requested access, and insert the resulting feed with a Gutenberg block, shortcode, widget or template function. Developers who need complete markup control can retrieve the reviews through Meta’s Graph API and render them with a custom PHP shortcode.
Facebook now presents many Pages with positive/negative recommendations instead of five-star ratings, so your WordPress display should preserve the wording and rating format Facebook actually supplies.
Choose the method that fits your site
| Method | Setup effort | Authorization | Insertion | Markup control | Storage and refresh | Multiple review sources | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| WP Review Slider | Low to medium | Connect a Facebook app and Page | Shortcode, widget or template function | Template choices supplied by the plugin | Reviews are downloaded once and stored in the WordPress database, then served from your server | Not established in the supplied product information | Keep the plugin, permissions and Facebook compatibility current |
| Business Reviews | Low | Facebook authorization flow | Gutenberg “Business Reviews” block | Block layout and visible fields | Fetched after authorization through graph.facebook.com; confirm the plugin’s current refresh behavior | Not established in the supplied product information | Reauthorize if access is revoked and check compatibility after API changes |
| Reviews Widgets for Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp & Recommendations | Low to medium | Owner or administrator rights for the Facebook Page | Social Reviews block, widget or shortcode | Plugin configuration | Confirm current platform limits and refresh behavior | Designed to combine Facebook recommendations with Google, TripAdvisor or Yelp | Monitor each connected platform’s permissions and API rules |
| Custom Graph API/PHP shortcode | High | Maintain Page credentials, tokens and required permissions | Your own shortcode and template | Complete HTML and styling control | You design caching, refresh and failure handling | You design any aggregation | You must track Meta permissions, endpoint behavior and API-version changes |
For most site owners, start with a plugin. Choose custom code only when the supplied blocks, widgets and templates cannot produce the markup or workflow you need.
Option 1: Display reviews with WP Review Slider
WP Review Slider documents retrieval through the official Facebook API rather than scraping. It downloads reviews once, stores them in the WordPress database and serves them from your own server, which can reduce repeated requests during page loads.
#1 Best Overall
- Install and activate WP Review Slider in WordPress.
- Connect the Facebook app and the Page whose reviews you want to show. Complete the permission and authorization prompts using an account that administers the Page.
- Retrieve the available reviews and select the plugin’s review template.
- Copy the generated shortcode into the target page, post or widget area, or use the documented template function in a theme.
- Preview the page at mobile and desktop widths. Check reviewer names, attribution, dates and long review text before publishing.
Because the plugin stores a local copy, include a documented refresh step for editors. If a token expires or permissions are revoked, the existing local copy may remain while new reviews stop updating; reconnect the Page and run the plugin’s retrieval process.
Option 2: Use the Business Reviews Gutenberg block
Business Reviews is the most direct choice when you want to work entirely in the block editor.
Rank #2
- Install and activate the Business Reviews plugin.
- Open the post or page where the reviews should appear.
- Insert the “Business Reviews” block from Gutenberg’s block inserter.
- Connect Facebook and approve the permissions requested for the Page.
- Adjust the block’s layout and choose which fields are visible, then save and preview the page.
After authorization, the plugin says Facebook Page reviews are fetched through https://graph.facebook.com. Treat authorization as an ongoing dependency: if access is revoked, the Page changes ownership or Meta changes its API requirements, the block may need to be connected again or updated.

Reviews Widgets for Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp & Recommendations is useful when one section of your site needs Facebook recommendations alongside reviews from other services. Its documented outputs are a Social Reviews block, a widget and a shortcode.
Rank #3
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Connect the Facebook Page with an account that has owner or administrator rights.
- Add the Social Reviews block, configure the widget, or place the shortcode where the feed belongs.
- Select the sources and fields you want visitors to see, then test the combined layout.
Verify the plugin’s current limits for each connected platform before relying on a particular source or refresh schedule. A multi-source display also needs clear attribution so visitors can tell which comments came from Facebook.
Option 4: Build a custom Graph API/PHP shortcode
Custom code is appropriate when you need a specific card design, structured data workflow, custom caching or integration with an existing theme. A secondary technical guide describes a request pattern containing the Page ID, an access token and fields such as reviewer, rating, review text and creation time, followed by a PHP shortcode.
Do not copy an old endpoint or permission list blindly. Meta’s permissions, response fields and API versions change, so verify the current requirements in Meta’s documentation before coding. Your implementation should:

- Request only the permissions required for the Page and review data.
- Cache responses and define an explicit refresh interval instead of requesting reviews on every visitor request.
- Escape reviewer names and review text before outputting HTML.
- Retain source attribution and the original recommendation or rating wording.
- Return a friendly fallback when a token expires, access is revoked or the API is unavailable.
A shortcode can then query the cached data and render your chosen HTML, but it becomes your responsibility to update the integration whenever Meta changes authorization or API behavior.

Authorization, privacy and display checks
- Use a Facebook account that administers the specific Page; being an editor of the WordPress site alone is not enough.
- Review every permission requested by the plugin and grant only what the selected display requires.
- Document whether reviews are cached in WordPress or fetched on demand, because that affects freshness, performance and data retention.
- Keep reviewer attribution visible and distinguish Facebook recommendations from numeric star ratings.
- Check that dates, names and long text remain readable on narrow screens.
- Decide what visitors see when no reviews are returned: a neutral “No reviews available” message is safer than an empty container.
Troubleshooting common failures
The feed is empty after connection
Confirm that the authorized account administers the selected Page, reconnect the Page, and check whether the plugin requires a manual retrieval or refresh. Also verify that the Page has reviews or recommendations available to the authorized account.
Reviews stopped updating
For a locally cached plugin, run its refresh process. If that fails, reconnect the Facebook authorization and review the plugin’s compatibility with the current Meta API requirements.
Stars are missing
Many Pages use positive/negative recommendations rather than five-star ratings. Configure the layout to show Facebook’s recommendation wording instead of inventing a star value.
Recommended Free Tools
The block or shortcode breaks the layout
Test long review text, names and dates at responsive breakpoints. Reduce the number of visible fields or adjust the plugin’s layout before adding custom CSS.
A custom integration returns permission or token errors
Check the Page ID, token validity and granted permissions, then compare your request and API version with Meta’s current requirements. Show cached content or a clear fallback while authorization is repaired.
