To delete a published TikTok photo post, open it from Profile, tap More options (…) , choose Delete, and confirm. If the photo is in a carousel, TikTok’s documented controls delete the whole post rather than one image; you may need to repost a corrected carousel.
Delete a published TikTok photo post
- Open TikTok and tap Profile.
- Open the photo post you want to remove.
- Tap the post’s More options (…) button.
- Tap Delete.
- Confirm if TikTok asks.
TikTok’s help page uses the term “video” for this control, but the same post-level route applies to a published photo-mode post. Button placement and wording can vary by device, app version, account, and region. See TikTok’s instructions at TikTok’s editing, posting, and deleting guide.
The post should disappear from your profile and normal public view. TikTok says deletion may remain reversible for up to 30 days rather than becoming immediately permanent.
Can you delete just one photo from a carousel?
TikTok’s current documented deletion controls remove the post; the official instructions do not document a control for removing one image from an already-published multi-photo post. Feature availability can differ, so check your post’s options, but the practical fallback is to delete and recreate it.

Delete and repost a corrected carousel
- Save the images you want to keep and record the caption, tags, location, sound, accessibility text, and privacy choices.
- Delete the original post using the steps above.
- Create a new photo post with the correct images and settings.
The replacement is a new post. Its URL, publication history, likes, comments, and engagement do not carry over from the original.
Delete a TikTok Story photo
A Story is separate from a permanent profile post. To remove a photo from a Story:
- Tap your profile photo at the top of the Following feed, Inbox, or your profile.
- Open the Story and swipe up.
- Tap Delete, then tap Delete again to confirm.
TikTok also documents an alternative: open the Story’s Share menu and choose Delete. Details are at TikTok Stories help.

Remove an unpublished photo draft
A draft is not public unless you post it. Go to Profile, open Drafts, then use the on-screen Select, Manage, or long-press control (the label varies) to choose the draft and tap Delete.
TikTok says drafts can be lost when the app is uninstalled and reinstalled or when you move or switch devices, and drafts cannot be transferred between accounts. Do not uninstall TikTok until you have saved anything you need. See TikTok’s posting and draft guidance.
Delete a photo comment
Photo comments are available only in select regions. On the post containing the comment, open Comments, press and hold the photo comment, and tap Delete. TikTok’s comment instructions are at TikTok comments help.

If you mean your profile picture
Your profile picture is the account avatar, not a photo post. Open Profile → Edit profile, then use the profile-photo control to replace it. TikTok’s available choices, including whether a blank avatar is offered, can vary by app version and region; replacing it with another image or the default avatar may be the available option.

TikTok says a deleted post can remain in its system for up to 30 days. During that period, try:
- Open TikTok and tap Profile.
- Tap Menu ☰.
- Choose Settings and privacy.
- Tap Activity center.
- Open Recently deleted.
- Select the post and tap Restore.
TikTok states that restoring the post also restores its associated likes and comments. Once the applicable retention period has ended and permanent deletion occurs, the Recently deleted feature should not be expected to recover it.

Why is the Delete button missing?
- Make sure you opened your own post, not another user’s content.
- Open the post and tap its More options (…) button; the profile-grid thumbnail itself may not show post controls.
- Swipe through the options panel if Delete is not immediately visible.
- Update TikTok through your device’s official app store, restart the app, and sign in again.
- Confirm that the item is a Story, draft, comment, or TikTok Notes post rather than a standard profile post.
- If TikTok removed the content for moderation, normal owner controls may no longer appear.
Controls can differ by account, region, device, and version. Never give your TikTok password to a third-party deletion service.

TikTok says that before you download and log in to TikTok Notes, deleting a public photo post or comment on TikTok also deletes it from Notes. Can I delete a TikTok photo without deleting the whole post?
For a published carousel, TikTok’s documented controls do not show an individual-image deletion option. Delete the post and repost the images you want to keep.
Can I recover a deleted TikTok photo?
Possibly. Open Profile → Menu ☰ → Settings and privacy → Activity center → Recently deleted. TikTok says recovery is available for up to 30 days, subject to the account’s applicable retention period.
Does deleting a post remove its likes and comments?
They disappear with the post, but TikTok says they are restored if you restore the post during the eligible Recently deleted period.
