The quickest way to turn webpage text into a PDF is to open the page, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Command+P on macOS, choose a PDF destination such as Save to PDF, check the preview, adjust the print settings, and save the file. You do not need a separate converter for the desktop workflows documented by Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox.
Choose the right conversion method
Before printing, decide whether the PDF should preserve the whole page or contain only readable text. A full-page PDF keeps context, navigation-related information and surrounding images. A selected-content PDF is better when you need one passage, recipe, specification or table. Reader or simplified modes can remove clutter, but they are available only on some pages.

Convert a webpage to PDF in Microsoft Edge
Save the entire page
- Open the webpage in Edge and wait for the text and images you need to finish loading.
- Open Print with Ctrl+P on Windows, Command+P on macOS, the Edge menu’s Print command, or the page’s right-click menu. Microsoft documents all of these entry points in its Print in Microsoft Edge guide.
- In the destination or printer list, select the available PDF option, such as Save to PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF. The exact label depends on your operating system and print-dialog environment.
- Review the preview. Set the page range, paper size, orientation, scale and margins as needed. Edge can offer fit-to-printable-area, actual-size and custom scaling.
- Open additional settings if necessary. Headers and footers and background graphics can change how dates, URLs, colors and shaded sections appear.
- Select Save, choose a folder and filename, then confirm.
Print only selected text or images
Edge supports a selection workflow when you need only part of a page. Drag across the text or images, right-click the selection, choose Print, and inspect the preview before saving to PDF. Selection printing can be useful for a quotation or table, but it may exclude headings, captions, links and styling that explain the excerpt.
Use Immersive Reader first
On a supported page, use the Immersive Reader control in the address bar or press F9 on supported Windows pages. Microsoft says this mode removes distracting pop-ups and buttons while retaining important text and visual content. From the simplified view, open Print and choose the PDF destination. Convert a webpage to PDF in Mozilla Firefox
Save the page
- Open the page in Firefox and press Ctrl+P on Windows or use Firefox’s Print command.
- In the print-preview destination dropdown, choose Save to PDF, as described in Mozilla’s Firefox printing guide.
- Set paper size, scale, pages per sheet, margins, page range, orientation and other available options.
- Decide whether headers, footers and background graphics belong in the document. They can add useful source information or create unwanted clutter.
- Select Print, choose a filename and location, and save.
Try Firefox Simplified format
When Firefox offers Simplified under Format, select it to create a text-focused version before saving. Mozilla notes that Simplified cannot be combined with print backgrounds. If the option is absent, the page does not provide that format or the current page structure does not support it.
Check the PDF before sharing it
Do not assume the PDF matches the browser tab. Webpages can use print-specific CSS, different line wrapping and page breaks. In the preview and in the saved file, check:
- The title and important headings are present.
- Columns, tables and code samples are not cut off horizontally.
- Images and charts are loaded rather than blank placeholders.
- Links, URLs, headers and footers are included or removed according to your purpose.
- Text is selectable and searchable if that matters to the recipient.
- Page breaks do not leave a heading at the bottom with its content on the next page.
If text is too small, increase the scale or use a larger paper size. If the right edge is clipped, switch orientation, reduce scale or adjust margins. If colors disappear, enable background graphics when that control is available.

Common problems and fixes
The PDF option is missing
Destination labels depend on the operating system and system print dialog. Look for Save to PDF, Microsoft Print to PDF or another PDF destination. If none appears, cancel the dialog and check whether your operating system’s PDF printer is enabled, then reopen Print.

The saved file is blank or missing late-loading text
Return to the page, wait for dynamic sections and images to load, and print again. Expand accordions or scroll through lazy-loaded sections first. A page that requires login, a script, or an interaction may not expose all content to the print layout.
Ads, cookie notices or chat controls cover the content
Dismiss the consent notice and overlays before printing. Use Edge Immersive Reader or Firefox Simplified when offered. These modes are page-dependent, so compare the preview with the original page.

The layout is broken
Try a different orientation, fit-to-page scaling, narrower margins or a different paper size. Disable backgrounds if they make pages unreadable; enable them if essential color coding disappears. Print a limited page range while you tune the settings.
Only part of a long page appears
Confirm that the page range is set to all pages and that the browser is using its full-page print layout. Some sites deliberately hide sections with print CSS. Reader modes may also omit interactive content.

Fonts or special characters look wrong
Wait until web fonts load, then reopen Print. If the preview still substitutes fonts, use the page’s simplified mode or copy the text into a document editor and export that document as PDF.

A browser-generated PDF can contain the page’s selectable text, hyperlinks, document metadata and sometimes hidden accessibility structure. Avoid printing private pages on a shared computer, and inspect the filename and metadata before sending the file.
