Use the browser already on your phone or tablet. On an iPhone or iPad, Safari saves the current webpage through Share → Markup → Save File To. On Android, Chrome sends the page to its print preview, where you choose Save as PDF. Both methods save a PDF on the device and do not require a separate converter.

Button names and their placement can vary with your operating-system and browser release. Apple documents the iPhone flow in its Safari iPhone guide and the iPad flow in its Safari iPad guide. Google documents the Android route in Chrome Help.
Save a webpage as PDF on an iPhone
1. Load the complete page
- Open the page in Safari.
- Wait for the text, images and embedded sections you need to finish loading. Scroll through the page once if it uses lazy-loaded images.
2. Open Safari’s sharing controls
- Tap the Share button. In some Safari tab layouts, tap More first and then Share.
- Choose Markup. Safari creates a PDF preview of the webpage.
3. Add notes or leave the page clean
Markup tools let you highlight, draw or write on the PDF. If you want an unannotated copy, make no marks.

4. Save the PDF
- Tap More, then Done.
- Choose Save File To.
- Select a folder in iCloud Drive, On My iPhone, or another enabled Files location.
- Enter a filename and tap Save.
The result is a PDF file in the folder you selected. Open the Files app and tap the file to check it before sharing.

Save a webpage as PDF on an iPad
1. Open the page in Safari
Let the page finish loading. For long pages, scroll through sections that contain images or expandable content so those resources have a chance to appear.
2. Use Share and Markup
- Tap Share.
- Tap More, then choose Markup.
- Annotate the page if needed, or leave it untouched for a clean copy.
3. Choose a Files destination
- Tap Done.
- Tap Save File To.
- Choose a folder, name the document and tap Save.
Apple’s iPad instructions establish this Share → More → Markup → Save File To sequence; the exact toolbar position can differ between iPadOS releases.
Save a webpage as PDF on Android with Chrome
1. Open and prepare the page
- Open the URL in Chrome.
- Wait until the page has loaded. If content appears only after scrolling, scroll to it before printing.
2. Open print preview
- Tap More (the three-dot menu).
- Tap Share.
- Select Print.
3. Select PDF output and save
- In the print-preview screen, open the printer or destination selector.
- Choose Save as PDF.
- Choose a folder and filename.
- Tap Print to complete the save operation. Despite the label, this writes a PDF rather than sending paper to a printer.
Chrome’s controls expose print-preview settings before the file is written. Depending on the Android release, you may also see options such as page range, paper size, orientation, colour and margins.

Check the PDF before you rely on it
The official Apple and Google instructions explain where to find the controls and save the file; they do not promise identical rendering for every website. Treat the first PDF as a conversion to verify, especially for pages with scripts, ads, animations or complex layouts.
- Open the saved file. Confirm that the title, headings and important text are present.
- Inspect page breaks. A heading at the bottom of a page, a split table or a clipped code block may make the document hard to read.
- Check images and fonts. Missing images usually mean the asset had not loaded when the print or Markup view was created.
- Test links. Tap a few links in the PDF viewer if the document is intended for digital use.
- Look for a print view or official PDF. A site’s “Print,” “Reader,” or downloadable-PDF option can produce a cleaner result than the general page.
- Recreate after changes. If you changed orientation, margins or page range in print preview, save a new copy rather than assuming the existing file updated.
What mobile browser conversion can and cannot capture
Static content usually transfers
Text, headings, ordinary images and many links are commonly represented in the generated PDF. The browser uses the page’s rendered view, so the output reflects what was available at the moment you invoked Markup or print preview.
Interactive behaviour becomes a document
Menus, video playback, live dashboards, hover states, form actions and other JavaScript interactions are not preserved as working web experiences in a normal browser-generated PDF. Open or operate the content first if a particular state must appear, then create the PDF.

Long and responsive pages need extra checking
A phone’s narrow viewport can cause additional line wrapping and more pages than a desktop printout. Fixed-position banners, cookie notices and chat controls may occupy space in the captured view. Dismissing overlays before conversion can improve readability, but a website may show them again after a reload.
Troubleshooting mobile HTML-to-PDF conversions
Safari does not show Markup
- Make sure you are sharing the webpage from Safari, not a link copied into another app’s share sheet.
- Tap More in the share sheet and look for Markup in the action list.
- If the page is still loading, wait and try Share again.
The iPhone or iPad saves the wrong page
Safari may have multiple tabs or a reader view open. Return to the tab containing the intended URL, confirm its title, then repeat the Share → Markup flow. Save with a descriptive filename so you can distinguish revisions.
Android Chrome has no Print option
- Use Chrome’s More → Share menu; the system share sheet’s general “Print” app is a different entry point.
- Scroll the share actions and tap More if Print is not immediately visible.
- If your device manufacturer removed the system print service, enable or install an available print service in Android settings, then reopen Chrome.
The PDF is blank or missing sections
Reload the page, wait for network requests to finish and create the PDF again. For pages that require sign-in, verify that you are still authenticated. If a site blocks printing or delivers content only after a user action, use its own print or download control where available.
Images are missing
Lazy-loaded images may not have been requested yet. Scroll through the page, wait for each section to render, and repeat the conversion. An image hosted by a blocked or expired URL can still be absent after a second attempt.

Content is cut off or unreadable
Try the site’s reader or print view first. On Android, adjust paper size, orientation, margins or page range in print preview when those controls are offered. On iPhone and iPad, Safari’s Markup route has fewer print-layout controls, so a site-provided print stylesheet or downloadable PDF may be the better source.

Reopen the Files app (iPhone/iPad) or the folder selected in Android’s save dialog. Search for the filename and check the device’s recent files list. If cloud storage was selected, allow synchronization to finish before assuming the file is missing.
