To convert a web page link to a PDF, open the URL in a modern browser, press Ctrl+P on Windows/Linux or Command+P on macOS, choose Save as PDF (or the equivalent PDF destination), adjust the print settings, and save. The preview matters: web pages can use different paper styles, so the PDF may not exactly match what you see on screen.
Choose the right way to turn a URL into a PDF
The best method depends on whether you need one readable page, a local copy of the web files, or a repeatable conversion service.

Convert a web page link to PDF in Chrome
Use Print for a real PDF
- Open the page URL in Chrome and wait until the content you need has loaded.
- Open the print dialog with Ctrl+P (Windows/Linux), Command+P (macOS), or File > Print.
- Set the destination to Save as PDF. If a system print dialog appears, choose the PDF destination offered by your operating system.
- Choose a page range, paper size, portrait or landscape orientation, scale, and margins. Turn background graphics on when the color or background is part of the information.
- Check the preview, choose a filename and folder, then select Save.
This creates a paginated PDF intended for sharing or archiving. It does not preserve every interactive behavior of the original page.
Use Save Page As when you need the webpage files
- Open the URL.
- Choose More > More tools > Save Page As.
- Select a location and save.
Chrome saves an HTML document and associated local resources. That is useful for offline inspection, but it is not equivalent to Print > Save as PDF and may open differently on another computer.

Save a URL as PDF in Firefox
- Open the page in Firefox.
- Open the application menu and select Print.
- In Destination, choose Save to PDF.
- Set orientation, page range, color, paper size, scale, margins, headers and footers, and background graphics as needed.
- If offered for the page, select Simplified to remove surrounding navigation and other clutter.
- Review the preview and save the PDF.
Firefox documents that a web page can deliberately use a different paper style, so changes between the screen and the printed PDF are expected rather than necessarily an error.
Convert a webpage link with Microsoft Edge
- Open the URL in Edge.
- Press Ctrl+P or Command+P, or open Settings and more > Print.
- Select the PDF destination available in the print dialog, then set pages, layout, scale, margins, and other options.
- When the site supports it, open Immersive Reader first. This can remove menus and other surrounding material.
- Preview the output and save it.
Immersive Reader is optional; it is not available for every page. If it changes the meaning or removes required content, print the normal page instead.
Fix a PDF that looks wrong
Ads, menus, cookie notices, or sidebars appear
Use Firefox Simplified, Edge Immersive Reader, or a site’s reader mode before printing. Otherwise, hide the clutter with the site’s own controls, then reopen the print preview. A browser print job captures the page as rendered at that moment, including overlays that have not been dismissed.
Text is cut off or runs past the paper
- Switch between portrait and landscape.
- Reduce the scale slightly, or increase it when text is unnecessarily tiny.
- Try narrower margins or a wider paper size.
- Print only the required page range.
Always verify headings, tables, code blocks, and images in preview; a visually correct browser window is not a guarantee of a correct paper layout.

Colors or images are missing
Enable background graphics (or the equivalent background option) and confirm that images finished loading before opening Print. Some sites use lazy loading, so scroll through the page once to trigger content before printing.
The PDF contains a blank page
Check the page range and scale, and try removing large margins. Responsive layouts can create an otherwise empty overflow page at a particular paper width.
The page changes while you print
Wait for dynamic content, pause animations when possible, and print again. A page that is still fetching data can produce an incomplete PDF even though the URL itself opened successfully.
Understand privacy, search, and what a browser PDF preserves
Print-to-PDF runs in your browser and does not require uploading the URL to an online converter. Treat the resulting file as a copy of what was rendered: scripts, logins, forms, video, and other interactive behavior generally do not remain interactive in the same way.

Chrome states that its PDF viewer converts scanned PDFs to searchable and selectable text with OCR on the device, without sending that OCR conversion to Google or other third parties. That statement applies to Chrome’s PDF-viewer OCR process; it should not be generalized to third-party online converters.
For confidential pages, check the PDF for hidden headers, account names, comments, or personal data before sharing. Printing a page does not remove information that the page visibly rendered.
Convert multiple pages or a whole site
Browser printing is designed for the page currently open. If one URL leads to a structured set of pages, Adobe Acrobat desktop can accept a webpage URL or HTML file and capture multiple levels or an entire site. Its conversion settings can restrict capture to the same path or the same server. Define the scope before starting so a site’s navigation does not expand the job unexpectedly.
- Use one-page browser printing for an article, receipt, report, or reference page.
- Use a multi-level converter when you intentionally need linked pages, not merely a longer single page.
- For recurring jobs, use an API so the URL, options, and output format are explicit and repeatable.

Troubleshooting API PDF captures
401 or authorization errors
Check that YOUR_API_KEY was replaced, that the key is sent as access_key, and that your URL is encoded correctly. Never put the key in a public client-side page.

The response is an image or an error document
Confirm that the endpoint options request PDF output and inspect the HTTP status and Content-Type before writing the file. Save error responses separately while diagnosing instead of assuming every response is a PDF.
Dynamic content is missing
Add a wait for a selector, a delay, or network idle; enable full-page capture and lazy-image loading when appropriate. If a modal blocks the page, use the cleanup controls or hide the relevant selector.
A site returns a bot check or blank page
