To save one image from a website as a PDF, open the image by itself in a browser tab, open the browser’s Print dialog, and choose a PDF destination such as Save as PDF. This avoids printing the surrounding webpage. If you already downloaded the image, an image-to-PDF converter is another option.
Choose the right method: image or webpage?
First decide what you want the PDF to contain. If you need just one picture, print the picture opened directly in its own tab. If you need a record of the whole page—including its text and layout—print the webpage instead. These are different tasks: webpage printing can include surrounding content, and printed pages may not look exactly like they do onscreen. Mozilla explains that web pages may print differently from their onscreen appearance in its Firefox printing guide.
- One image from a webpage: open the image itself, then print that image tab to PDF.
- The complete webpage: print the page, then adjust page-layout settings as needed.
- An image saved on your device: use your operating system’s print-to-PDF option or an image converter.
Save a web image as PDF in a browser
- Open the webpage containing the image.
- Open the image itself in a separate tab. In Firefox, right-click the image and choose Open Image in New Tab when that option is available. The new tab should show the image without the article or other page content. Mozilla describes this approach for printing a single image in its Firefox instructions.
- Open the browser’s Print dialog. On Windows or Linux in Chrome, press Ctrl+P; on macOS, press Command+P. Chrome also documents printing an open page, image, or file in Print from Chrome – Computer.
- Set the destination to a PDF option—not a physical printer. In Chrome, choose Save as PDF. Depending on your browser and operating system, the wording or location of this choice may differ.
- Check the preview. Confirm it shows the image rather than the original webpage and that the image fits the page as you want.
- Select Save, choose a filename and folder, and confirm the save.
If you are using Firefox
Open the image in its own tab before opening Print preview. Select Save to PDF as the destination if shown. Use the preview to check the result; the appearance in print preview can differ from the browser view. The available wording may vary by platform.

If you are using Chrome
Open the image directly in a tab, then press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on macOS. Select Save as PDF in the print destination and save the file. Google’s instructions cover printing an open image as well as a page or file: Print from Chrome – Computer.

Use your computer’s built-in PDF printer
You do not inherently need a separate converter application for a basic image-to-PDF job. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau documents these print-to-PDF paths in its webpage PDF instructions.
Windows
- Open the image in a browser or image viewer and choose Print.
- Choose Microsoft Print to PDF or a Save as PDF destination if available.
- Print, then choose a save location and filename when prompted.
Some older Windows versions may not include the built-in Microsoft PDF printer. If it is missing, check whether your browser offers Save as PDF as its print destination.

macOS
- Open the image and press Command+P.
- In the print dialog, choose Save as PDF from the PDF menu.
- Choose where to save the file and confirm.
Convert an image file you already downloaded
If the image is already on your computer, open it in a browser or an application that has a Print command and use the appropriate PDF destination described above. This is often enough for a straightforward conversion.

Adobe’s online image conversion page lists JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, and TIFF as supported input formats and describes uploading an image to convert it: Convert JPG to PDF online for free. That page establishes the conversion feature, but does not state a detailed data-handling or privacy guarantee. If the image is sensitive, consider whether uploading it to an online service is appropriate before using one.

Control the result before saving
For a single image, the key control is the print preview: it lets you check that the image—not the webpage—is being saved and that the page looks acceptable. If it appears too small, cropped, or surrounded by unwanted page content, cancel the print job and reopen the image directly in its own tab before trying again.
If instead you are creating a PDF of a webpage, browser print settings can affect the layout and whether images appear. Adobe documents configurable web-to-PDF options, including whether images are included, in Customize web page to PDF conversion settings in Acrobat. Those webpage settings address a different goal from printing one image by itself.

Troubleshooting
- The PDF contains the whole page. You printed the webpage rather than the image. Return to the page, open the image in a new tab, and print that tab.
- You cannot find “Save as PDF.” Look for a PDF choice in the print dialog or a system destination such as Microsoft Print to PDF on Windows. If neither appears, check whether the browser has its own PDF destination; older Windows installations may not include the Microsoft printer.
- The preview differs from the image on screen. Print output can differ from a webpage’s onscreen appearance. Check the preview before saving, and use the image’s own tab rather than the page if you want only the image.
- The saved file is not where you expected. When prompted, choose a known folder and filename. On Windows, the system PDF printer asks for a save location; on macOS, select one in the save dialog.
- The image format is not accepted by an online converter. Check the converter’s supported formats before uploading. Adobe lists JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF, and TIFF on its online conversion page.
