The best connection depends on what you need to move. Use WooCommerce’s dedicated Google Sheets Connector for orders and products, including scheduled or two-way synchronization. Use the documented Zapier workflow when you only need new orders added as rows. For catalog editing, stock, or supplier updates, use the product and stock-sync workflows with a dry run and match review before writing changes back.

Choose the right connection method

Method Best for Data and direction Timing and controls
WooCommerce Google Sheets Connector Orders plus product catalog synchronization WooCommerce-to-Sheets export, with optional sheet-to-WooCommerce pull actions Real-time order updates on status changes, schedules of every 15 minutes, hourly, twice daily, or daily; field mapping, logs, manual sync and resync controls
Zapier new-order workflow A simple order log New WooCommerce orders become rows in a selected Google Sheet Map fields, save the Zap and test it; the documented recipe does not establish catalog synchronization or the dedicated connector’s write-back controls
Product and stock-sync workflows Editing products, inventory, prices or supplier data in Sheets Fetch products to a sheet and pull approved edits back to WooCommerce Dry run, manual-review matches, confirmation and then scheduling

“Sync” is not a single direction. An export sends WooCommerce data to Sheets; a pull or write-back action applies approved sheet values to WooCommerce.

Connect WooCommerce with the dedicated Google Sheets Connector

1. Create the Google Cloud credentials

  1. Select an existing Google Cloud project or create a new one.
  2. Enable the Google Sheets API. Google’s activation can take up to five minutes.
  3. Configure a web OAuth client and enter the redirect URL specified by the connector.
  4. Copy the OAuth client ID and client secret into the WooCommerce connector settings.
  5. If Google’s OAuth configuration is in testing mode, add the Google account you will use as a test user.

2. Prepare the spreadsheet

  1. Create the destination Google spreadsheet.
  2. Copy its spreadsheet ID. It is the text in the URL between /d/ and /edit.
  3. In WooCommerce, enter the credentials and spreadsheet ID in the connector settings.
  4. Save the settings and connect the Google account through OAuth.

3. Configure order synchronization

  1. Choose the order synchronization feature and select the order fields you need.
  2. Map WooCommerce fields to the intended sheet columns instead of importing unnecessary data.
  3. Choose real-time updates when order-status changes should appear promptly, or select every 15 minutes, hourly, twice daily or daily scheduling.
  4. Apply status filters if only particular order states belong in the sheet.
  5. Run the connector’s connection check and review its logs.
  6. For an initial catch-up, use the manual action to sync the last 100 orders or force a resync as appropriate.

4. Add product synchronization when required

  1. Enable product synchronization separately from orders.
  2. Select and map the product fields needed by your team, such as identifiers, names, prices or stock values.
  3. Run the product sync action and inspect the resulting sheet before enabling any write-back.

5. Enable two-way updates carefully

Two-way order or product synchronization is optional. Turn it on only after checking the target sheet and mapping the fields that are genuinely allowed to update WooCommerce. Then run the relevant pull action to apply sheet changes. Keep an untouched backup or export of important values before the first write-back, and review the connector logs afterward.

Do not use Clear Sheet Data casually

Verify that the connector is pointed at the intended spreadsheet before replacing or clearing data. WooCommerce’s warning is explicit: “This action permanently deletes data from the Google Sheet and cannot be undone.”

Send new WooCommerce orders to Google Sheets with Zapier

Zapier is a practical alternative when the requirement is an order log rather than full catalog synchronization.

  1. Connect the WooCommerce store to Zapier.
  2. Choose the new-order trigger and authenticate the store.
  3. Select the Google spreadsheet and worksheet that should receive rows.
  4. Map WooCommerce fields to the sheet’s columns, such as order number, date, status, customer details and totals.
  5. Save the Zap and run its test step.
  6. Check the test row in the selected worksheet before turning the Zap on.

This documented setup captures new orders as rows. It should not be treated as equivalent to the dedicated connector’s product synchronization, scheduled catalog jobs or explicit sheet-to-store pull actions.

Edit products and inventory from a Google Sheet

Product editing is a separate workflow from simply exporting orders. WooCommerce’s bulk product and Stock Sync Sheets documentation covers stock quantity, stock status, regular price, sale price, supplier sheets and product creation or updates.

Use a controlled first run

  1. Set up stock synchronization and fetch the existing products into the sheet.
  2. Make a small, clearly identified set of edits rather than changing the whole catalog at once.
  3. Run a dry run.
  4. Review rows that require manual matching. Similar names or incomplete identifiers can point a supplier row at the wrong store product.
  5. Confirm the matches and correct exceptions.
  6. Only after the results are correct, enable a recurring schedule.

Fields commonly handled in the sheet

  • Stock quantity
  • Stock status
  • Regular price
  • Sale price
  • Supplier inventory values
  • Product creation or update fields supported by the workflow

Use stable product identifiers wherever the workflow supports them; names alone are more likely to need manual review.

Protect the direction and scope of every sync

  • Orders to Sheets: export order records for reporting, fulfillment or an audit log.
  • Products to Sheets: export catalog data for review or bulk editing.
  • Sheets to WooCommerce: run the connector’s or stock workflow’s pull/write-back action only for approved, mapped fields.
  • Scheduled versus manual: scheduling reduces repetitive work, while manual runs are safer during the first test or after a mapping change.

Keep the integration’s logs and test results available for troubleshooting. A successful OAuth connection does not by itself prove that the intended worksheet, columns or update direction are correct.

Keep similar Google integrations separate

Google for WooCommerce sends product feeds to Google Merchant Center; it is not the Google Sheets connection described here. Products and Orders Sync synchronizes data between WooCommerce stores, not between WooCommerce and Sheets. Installing either one will not replace the Sheets connector, Zapier order workflow or stock-sync process.

A practical decision checklist

  • Choose the dedicated connector if you need orders and products, recurring schedules, logs or optional two-way updates.
  • Choose Zapier if your requirement is a straightforward stream of new orders into worksheet rows.
  • Choose product or stock-sync workflows if people will edit inventory, prices or supplier data in Sheets.
  • Before write-back, map only permitted fields, test with a small sample and review matching exceptions.
  • Confirm the spreadsheet ID and worksheet before every destructive or bulk operation.

The Bottom Line

For a full WooCommerce–Google Sheets connection, start with the dedicated connector and keep two-way updates disabled until your field mappings and test results are verified. Use Zapier for a simpler new-order log, and use the stock/product workflows—with dry runs and manual match review—for spreadsheet-based catalog or inventory changes.
