On iPhone, update Zoom Workplace through the App Store. On a Mac or Windows PC, open Zoom Workplace, select your profile picture, and choose Check for Updates. To see which version is installed, use the app’s About screen on each platform.
What “check for Zoom updates” can mean
There are three different checks you may need to make:

- Check the installed version: Find the version number currently on your device.
- Check for an available update: Ask Zoom, Apple, or Microsoft whether a newer app package is available.
- Check release notes or minimum-version requirements: Find out what changed or whether your version is too old for a meeting or Zoom service.
Zoom’s current app name is Zoom Workplace, although older instructions, app listings, and installation files may still say “Zoom.”

Update Zoom on iPhone
Install the update
- Open the App Store.
- Tap your profile picture or the My Account button.
- Tap App Updates.
- Find Zoom Workplace.
- Tap Update. You can also tap Update All.
Apple normally enables automatic app updates by default. If Zoom does not appear under available updates, the App Store currently considers the installed version up to date. See Apple’s iPhone app-update instructions.

Check the installed Zoom version
- Open and sign in to Zoom Workplace.
- Tap your profile picture in the upper-left corner.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap About.
- Read the number beside Version.
iPhone does not generally provide the same in-app Check for Updates control found in the desktop app. Compare the version shown in Zoom with the current iPhone entry in the App Store or with Zoom’s release notes.
If the App Store does not show Update
Open Zoom’s App Store page directly and check whether the button says Open or Update. You can also pull down on the App Updates screen to refresh it. If the update still does not appear:
- Check available iPhone storage.
- Restart the iPhone.
- Install any compatible iOS update.
- Confirm that you are using the Apple Account associated with the app.
- Check whether restrictions or an account problem are blocking App Store updates.
Mobile releases can appear later than desktop releases because they require approval from the relevant app store. A newer Zoom release may therefore be documented before it is available on every iPhone.
Update Zoom on Mac
The correct procedure depends on where Zoom Workplace came from.
Mac app downloaded from Zoom
- Open and sign in to Zoom Workplace.
- Click your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
- Click Check for Updates.
- If an update is available, allow Zoom to download and install it.
To check the installed version, select your profile picture, then choose Help → About Zoom Workplace. The version appears in the About window. Zoom documents these desktop steps in its desktop update guidance.

Mac App Store installation
- Open the App Store.
- Click Updates in the sidebar.
- Click Update beside Zoom, or choose Update All.
Apps installed from the Mac App Store are updated through Apple’s store. Apps obtained directly from a developer are generally updated through that developer instead. See Apple’s explanation of how Mac apps are updated.
Older macOS versions
Zoom’s release notes state that support for macOS 10.13 and 10.14 ended. Macs need macOS 10.15 or later to continue receiving additional Zoom app updates. If your Mac cannot run a supported macOS version, updating Zoom may not be possible until the operating system or computer is upgraded.

Standard Zoom desktop installation
- Open and sign in to Zoom Workplace.
- Click your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
- Click Check for Updates.
- Allow Zoom to download and install the update if one is available.
To see the installed version, open the profile menu and select Help → About Zoom Workplace.
Microsoft Store installation
- Open Microsoft Store.
- Select Library.
- Select Get updates, or use the equivalent update control shown by your Store version.
- Install any available Zoom update.
Microsoft says Store apps generally update automatically, while the Library also provides a manual check. Refer to Microsoft’s Microsoft Store update instructions.
How to confirm Zoom updated successfully
- Wait for the installer or app store to finish.
- Reopen Zoom if it closed.
- Check the version again:
- Mac and Windows: Profile picture → Help → About Zoom Workplace.
- iPhone: Profile picture → Settings → About.
- Compare the displayed version with the relevant Zoom release notes or the version named in the update prompt.
- If you updated because of a specific problem, join a test meeting or open the affected feature.
Do not treat one version number as permanently “the latest.” Releases can differ by platform, update channel, store approval, geography, and enterprise management.

Why Zoom may require an update
Zoom distinguishes between different desktop update types:

- Optional updates: You can postpone the update and install it later.
- Mandatory updates: You must install the update before continuing.
- Web-only updates: Updates made available through the web portal for fixes being tested.
Zoom may show a mandatory or optional update notification within 24 hours of login. A mandatory prompt is not the same as a routine recommendation: save work where possible, install through the prompt or an official vendor channel, and avoid repeatedly postponing it if a meeting or account requires a newer version.
Zoom’s minimum-version policy changes over time and can vary by product and platform. Zoom defines a minimum version as the absolute minimum that can be used to join or host meetings, use Zoom Chat, make or receive Zoom Phone calls, or otherwise access Zoom products. Check the current minimum and update-channel information rather than relying on an old number.
Why “Check for Updates” is missing
The missing option does not necessarily indicate a broken installation. First confirm that you are using the installed desktop app, not the Zoom web portal. Then check the version through Profile picture → Help → About Zoom Workplace.
The most important possibility is that an employer installed Zoom using MSI, Group Policy, mobile-device management, or another enterprise deployment method. With some MSI deployments, automatic updating may be disabled and Check for Updates may be removed intentionally. In that case, contact your IT department or Zoom account administrator instead of installing a different package. See Zoom’s guidance on missing update controls and MSI installations.

For a personally managed computer, download the official installer from the Zoom Download Center. Do not use third-party download sites.
Fix a failed Zoom update
The update will not download
- Check your internet connection and available disk space.
- Close Zoom completely, including any background process you can exit.
- Restart the computer and try again.
- Check whether security software or a corporate network is blocking the download.
- Use the official Zoom Download Center as a fallback.
The update downloads but will not install
Common causes include insufficient administrator permission, security software blocking the installer, corporate software policies, a damaged installation, insufficient storage, a running background process, or an operating system that is too old for the release.
- Close Zoom completely.
- Restart the computer.
- Try the in-app update again.
- If the computer is personally managed, run the official installer from Zoom.
- If the device is managed, ask IT to deploy the approved update.
- Only then consider uninstalling and reinstalling Zoom.
Before reinstalling, make sure you know how you sign in and check whether locally stored recordings, settings, or organizational configuration depend on the existing installation.
The iPhone app still cannot update
In addition to App Store approval delays, the device may lack compatible iOS support, storage, or the correct Apple Account. Refresh the App Store, restart the iPhone, check storage, and update iOS if supported. Delete and reinstall Zoom only as a last resort, after confirming your sign-in method and that important local app data is not required.

Updating is a sensible first check, but feature availability can also depend on the platform, release channel, Zoom plan, add-ons, administrator permissions, regional rollout, assigned license, or account configuration. Zoom documents these qualifications in its feature and plan information.

For example, a feature may exist in the current desktop release but not yet be available on mobile, or it may require a paid plan or an administrator to enable it. An update alone cannot resolve those restrictions.
Why release notes matter
Release numbers change, and the newest published package is not always available simultaneously on every platform. As dated examples, Zoom’s release notes listed version 7.1.5 for Windows, macOS, and iOS on July 20, 2026, and desktop version 7.0.6 for Windows and macOS on July 24, 2026, including a security enhancement. These are release-note entries, not permanent current-version claims.
Zoom also documented an April 2026 issue affecting some users on versions 7.0.0 and 7.0.1, including an indefinite “Connecting…” status in Zoom Chat for accounts with certain BAA security settings. Zoom removed affected versions from some download and update paths and provided version 7.0.2 as a fix path. This illustrates why you should follow the vendor’s release notes and notices if a version is withdrawn or replaced, rather than assuming the highest number is always the correct package for every account.

When should you check for Zoom updates?
Check when Zoom displays an update notification, a meeting host or employer specifies a minimum version, a feature is missing, or the app crashes, freezes, or develops audio or video problems. It is also sensible to check when Zoom’s release notes mention a security or compatibility fix.
For ordinary personal use, leaving App Store or Microsoft Store automatic updates enabled is convenient. Direct desktop installations may use Zoom’s own update mechanism, but managed work computers can follow an organization-controlled schedule instead.
