To make Microsoft Edge open Google from its Home button, open Settings and more (…) → Settings → Start, home, and new tab page. Turn on Show home button on the toolbar, choose the option to enter a specific URL, and enter https://www.google.com/.
This changes the Home button page only. Address-bar searches, startup pages, and new tabs have separate settings.
Set Google as the Edge Home page on Windows
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Select Settings and more (…) in the upper-right corner.
- Select Settings.
- Open Start, home, and new tab page.
- Turn on Show home button on the toolbar.
- Choose the option to enter a specific URL or custom page.
- Enter
https://www.google.com/.
Edge may save the change automatically. Select the Home icon beside the address bar to test it. Microsoft’s labels can vary slightly by Edge release, language, and interface rollout; look for the settings area containing the Home button and startup controls. See Microsoft’s Home page instructions.

Make Google open when Edge starts
The Home button page is different from the page Edge displays when the browser launches. To open Google at startup:

- Go to Settings and more (…) → Settings → Start, home, and new tab page.
- Find the On startup section.
- Choose Open a specific page or pages, Open these pages, or the similarly worded option shown in your version.
- Add
https://www.google.com/. - Remove unwanted startup pages if necessary.

Set Google as the search engine for address-bar searches
If Edge still shows Bing results when you type a search into the address bar, that is expected: the default search engine is independent of the Home page.

- Visit Google in Edge and perform a search from the address bar. This can make Google available in Edge’s search-engine list.
- Open Settings and more (…) → Settings.
- Select Privacy, search, and services.
- Open Search and connected services, then select Address bar and search.
- Under Search engine used in the address bar, select Google.
Microsoft says Edge supports search engines using OpenSearch technology. If Google is not listed, use it for an address-bar search first, then return to this setting. See Microsoft’s instructions for changing the default search engine.
Change the Home page in Edge on Android
- Open the Edge app and tap ….
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Home page. In some layouts, it may be under General.
- Choose A specific page.
- Enter
https://www.google.com/and tap Save.
Mobile search-engine settings are separate from the Home page setting. Microsoft’s Edge for mobile FAQ documents the Home page and mobile search options.

What about iPhone and iPad?
Edge on iOS can use different menu labels from Android. Open Edge’s Settings and look for Home page or Search engine. Do not assume that the Android path is identical on iPhone or iPad; the available controls may vary by app version.
Will this change every new tab to Google?
No. Setting https://www.google.com/ as the Home page does not automatically replace Edge’s New Tab page. New tabs have their own customization controls, typically accessed by opening a new tab and selecting the page-settings or gear icon. These controls can change the layout, background, quick links, and content, but the built-in options may not provide Google as a complete New Tab replacement.

An extension may be required if you want every new tab to open Google. Install one only after checking its publisher, permissions, privacy policy, reviews, and compatibility. Extensions can also change your Home page or search engine.

You can use Google’s website and search engine while continuing to use Microsoft Edge. This setting does not install Google Chrome or change your default browser, and signing in to a Google account is optional.

Troubleshooting
The Home button is missing
Open Settings → Start, home, and new tab page and enable Show home button on the toolbar. The icon is hidden until this option is turned on.
Google is not available as a search engine
Visit Google and perform a search from Edge’s address bar, then return to Privacy, search, and services → Search and connected services → Address bar and search. Google should then be available if Edge has detected it.
The setting keeps changing
An extension may be modifying the browser. Open edge://extensions, disable suspicious or recently installed extensions one at a time, and check the Home page and search-engine settings again. Remove an extension only if you recognize it and no longer need it. Microsoft provides additional extension guidance in its Extensions FAQ.

Organization policies can control Edge settings and extensions. Open edge://policy to inspect policies applied to the browser, then contact your organization’s IT administrator before attempting to change a managed setting.
Google opens from the Home button but not at startup
These are separate behaviors. Set Google under the On startup section as well if you want it to appear whenever Edge launches.
