You can capture website screenshots in Make with a dedicated screenshot app, then pass the resulting file to a storage, email, or messaging module. Make lists URL screenshot actions in HTML to Image and webpage and element capture actions in GetScreenshot. If those integrations do not fit your needs, Make’s HTTP app can call a screenshot provider’s API—but you must use that provider’s current endpoint, authentication, and response instructions.
Choose the right Make screenshot method
Start with the kind of output you need and what you want to capture. Make’s integration listings describe three useful routes:

URL, element, or custom content?
- Choose URL capture when you want an image of a webpage as a whole.
- Choose element capture when you only need one component, such as a chart or product card. GetScreenshot lists a separate element action and requires an element selector.
- Choose an HTML/CSS-to-image action when you are generating an image or PDF from HTML/CSS rather than simply capturing an existing page.
- Choose HTTP when you need a provider or endpoint that Make does not expose through a suitable native app.
Check the output and destination
Decide whether the next module needs an image file, PDF, or a message containing the result. HTML to Image lists screenshot, image-generation, and PDF actions; GetScreenshot lists email delivery. Your scenario can connect the capture action to a storage or sharing module, but the available output fields depend on the integration and action you select.

Build a URL screenshot scenario with a native app
Make describes a scenario as a workflow made of modules that automate apps and services. A screenshot action can sit between a trigger and a destination, letting the same workflow run on demand or on an appropriate schedule. Make’s HTML to Image integration listing describes scheduled screenshots; choose the schedule that matches your use case in the scenario settings.
- Create a scenario. In Make, create a new scenario and add the trigger that should start the workflow. Use a schedule if you want recurring captures and the available scheduling controls suit your needs.
- Add a screenshot action. Search the app picker for HTML to Image and select the listed Capture Website Screenshot action, or select GetScreenshot and its Take Screenshot action.
- Set or map the target URL. Enter the page address directly for a fixed capture. If a preceding module supplies URLs, map its URL value into the screenshot action’s URL field. Field labels and requirements are controlled by the selected integration.
- Add a destination module. Connect a storage or sharing app that supports the returned file. Map the screenshot output to the destination’s file or attachment input. With HTML to Image, Make also lists a Get an Image action; inspect its actual output and the screenshot action’s output to determine the right mapping.
- Run the scenario once and inspect the result. Check what the capture module actually returns before mapping later modules. For HTTP, Make says parsed response fields become available for mapping after you run the module once. Do not assume a file, URL, or particular field name until you have inspected the output.
- Turn on the scenario when ready. Verify that the trigger, schedule, and destination are configured for the intended workflow before enabling recurring runs.
Capture a specific page element
When a full-page screenshot contains more than you need, use GetScreenshot’s Take Element Screenshot action if it is available for your account and scenario. Supply the target page and an element selector in the fields the action presents. A selector identifies the element in the page’s markup; if it no longer matches after the site changes, the capture may fail or target the wrong content. Inspect the result before relying on it in a recurring workflow.
Call a screenshot API with Make HTTP
Make says its HTTP app can connect to API services and applications without a Make integration. It also offers request and file-download functionality. The HTTP module does not define a screenshot service’s endpoint, authentication scheme, rendering options, response format, or usage limits; get those details from the screenshot provider’s current API documentation.
- Add HTTP → Make a request. In your scenario, add Make’s HTTP app and select the Make a request module.
- Enter the provider’s request details. Follow that provider’s documentation for the HTTPS URL, HTTP method, query or body parameters, and authentication. Do not guess field names or assume all screenshot APIs use the same format.
- Store credentials in Make’s Credentials field. Make recommends this field to help prevent key exposure and centralize credential rotation. Use the authentication method required by the provider.
- Run the module once. Inspect the returned status and data. Make notes that parsed response fields become available for mapping after the module has run. Confirm whether the provider returns image bytes, a file URL, a job identifier, or another result before choosing the next step.
- Download or route the image as needed. If the provider returns a file URL, use the appropriate file-download functionality and map the resulting file to your storage or sharing module. If it returns image data directly, follow the provider’s and Make’s current instructions for handling that response.
- Test the complete scenario. Confirm that the destination receives a usable file, not just response metadata, before enabling a schedule.
Make says unverified self-signed certificates are rejected. Use a valid HTTPS endpoint rather than trying to bypass certificate verification. For a provider-specific setup, consult its own current API documentation; Make’s HTTP documentation covers Make’s request and file modules, not every provider’s response handling.

HTML to Image: know the documentation limits
Make’s HTML to Image API documentation explicitly says it cannot provide complete documentation because there is not enough publicly available information about the app. The Make integration listing does name screenshot, image-generation, PDF, and image-retrieval actions, but the available material does not establish every setup field, rendering control, output constraint, or limit. Check the current app interface and provider documentation for details instead of assuming options that are not listed.

Troubleshoot a Make screenshot scenario
The screenshot action or app is missing
Make’s app listings and available actions can change. Search the live app picker and integration page for the app and action name; if no suitable native action is available, use HTTP with the screenshot provider’s API documentation.
The target URL is empty or incorrect
Check whether the action expects a literal URL or a mapped value. If it is mapped, inspect the preceding module’s output and confirm that the mapped field contains the complete intended address. Run the module with a known URL to distinguish a mapping problem from a provider issue.

Inspect the capture module’s output. It may provide file data, a downloadable URL, or another response type. Use the integration’s image retrieval action when appropriate, or Make’s file-download functionality when the provider returns a file URL. Map the resulting file field to the destination’s file input rather than mapping the full response object by default.
An HTTP request is rejected
Compare the request URL, method, parameters, and authentication against the provider’s current API documentation. Store the credential using Make’s Credentials field and confirm that the endpoint uses HTTPS with a valid certificate. Make rejects unverified self-signed certificates.

Element capture stops working
The page may have changed its markup or selector. Recheck that the selector identifies the intended element on the current page, then run the capture again and inspect the output before resuming scheduled runs.
HTML to Image settings are unclear
Make’s published documentation for this app is limited and does not establish all fields or controls. Use only settings shown in the current module or confirmed by the provider; do not infer unsupported rendering options or limits.

A recurring screenshot scenario depends on every step succeeding: the trigger, page capture, any file retrieval, and the destination. Test the full chain with a representative URL and inspect the delivered file before relying on a schedule. If the source page or its markup changes, URL or element capture behavior can change too.
The Make pages cited here do not establish screenshot-specific prices, quotas, performance guarantees, retry behavior, or provider limits. Check Make’s current plan and the selected app or API provider’s terms for those details. In particular, do not treat Make’s HTTP module as evidence of a particular screenshot API’s capacity or billing rules.
