For a webpage or app that continues beyond the screen, use Snagit’s All-in-One capture and its scrolling arrow to make one long capture. A PDF open in a reader is a different case: TechSmith documents printing it to Snagit Printer. These workflows do not establish a current way to combine separate, unrelated pages into one multi-page PDF, so check the instructions for your installed Snagit version if that is the output you need.
First, choose the right kind of capture
“Multiple pages” can mean a single webpage that scrolls beyond the visible screen, a document open in a PDF reader, or several separate pages that you want to assemble into one file. Snagit’s current published guidance covers the first two with different workflows. A scrolling capture is one continuous image of content beyond the screen; it is not a batch of independent screenshots stitched together, and it is not necessarily a PDF with separate pages.
- Long webpage or app view: use All-in-One scrolling capture, then review and save the result in Snagit Editor.
- PDF open in a reader: TechSmith’s support workaround is to print to Snagit Printer.
- Separate, unrelated pages assembled as one multi-page document: current guidance cited here does not establish a workflow. Confirm that your installed version supports the specific output you need before relying on older instructions.
TechSmith’s current feature page says scrolling capture can include content vertically or horizontally beyond the visible area. Its support page states, “Yes, Snagit supports scrolling capture (vertically and horizontally!).” TechSmith’s scrolling-capture feature page also discusses capturing websites in browsers such as Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. Page structure and application compatibility can still affect the result, so inspect the capture before using it.
Capture a long webpage or application view
- Open Snagit and choose All-in-One. Select the All-in-One capture type in Snagit’s capture controls.
- Open the page you want to capture. Bring the browser or application view into position. If the page has moving or dynamically loaded content, allow it to settle before starting.
- Start the capture and choose the scrolling arrow. Snagit detects a scrollable region and displays the orange scrolling arrow. Select it to begin scrolling capture.
- Scroll through the content. Follow the on-screen controls to capture vertically or horizontally. Move steadily and review the capture for missing, duplicated, or misaligned content.
- Finish and review in Snagit Editor. When the capture opens in Editor, copy it or save/download it in the format you need.
The result is a single extended capture. For a webpage that has separate sections or tabs rather than one continuous scroll area, capture those views separately; the scrolling workflow does not turn them into separate pages in a PDF.

For a page that scrolls sideways
Snagit’s documented scrolling capture includes horizontal as well as vertical content. Use the horizontal scrolling control where it appears and check the whole width of the result. A page with both horizontal and vertical scrolling, nested panels, or several independent scroll areas may not behave like one simple page; if the arrow does not identify the intended region, use the manual method below.
For dynamic pages
Content that loads as you scroll can affect what appears in the final capture. Scroll at a controlled pace rather than rushing through the page, and verify that images, text, and other late-loading elements are present in Snagit Editor. A technically completed capture is not proof that every dynamic element rendered correctly.
Use manual scrolling when automatic capture fails
TechSmith recommends Snagit’s manual Scrolling Capture, formerly called Panoramic Capture, as an alternative when automatic scrolling does not work. The exact labels and controls can vary by Snagit version and operating system; the support guidance identifies this method for Snagit 13 or later.

- Prepare the window. Enlarge the browser or application window so the content is easier to capture.
- Select the useful area. Exclude the scrollbar and unnecessary margins from the capture region. Close or disable floating toolbars that might cover content.
- Choose manual Scrolling Capture. Select the manual scrolling or panoramic capture method in your installed version of Snagit.
- Scroll in one direction at a time. Move steadily through the page. Avoid zigzagging, which makes alignment harder.
- Inspect the assembled capture. Look for gaps, repeated strips, or visible seams before saving or sharing.
Manual capture provides more control over where and how the content moves, but it is not a guaranteed fix. TechSmith cautions that parallax sites can be difficult to capture accurately. If the page animates or shifts elements as you scroll, the final image may not line up cleanly.

A PDF displayed in a reader can expose scrollbars differently from a webpage. TechSmith says the All-in-One method may not work when Snagit cannot detect the PDF reader’s scrollbars. Its documented workaround is to send the document to Snagit Printer:
- In the PDF reader, choose File > Print.
- Set the printer destination to Snagit Printer.
- Complete the print operation and use the resulting capture in Snagit Editor.
- Edit it as an image in Editor and save it in a supported format.
This is TechSmith’s workaround for a PDF-reader document, not the same as scrolling a webpage into one tall image. The cited support page does not establish that this route produces a conventional PDF with each original page preserved as a separate page. Confirm the output in your Snagit version if page boundaries and a multi-page PDF are essential.

What if you need separate pages in one PDF?
An old Snagit 11 help document describes a “Multiple Page PDF Document” workflow involving Image capture mode, Scrolling Window, and an output choice. That is legacy guidance, not a reliable set of current interface steps. Do not assume that those labels or the same capability apply to your installed version.
Before capturing, decide whether you need one continuous image, individual page images, or a document whose pages remain separate in a PDF. Then check the help for your installed Snagit release and test a small sample. If the current edition does not provide the output you require, capture the pages in a suitable format and use a PDF tool designed to assemble or preserve separate pages.

Troubleshoot missing arrows, incomplete pages, and failed scrolling
Automatic scrolling depends on Snagit recognizing a usable scroll region and on the browser or application cooperating. TechSmith lists conflicting third-party utilities, unsupported browsers or applications, incompatible hardware drivers, and security software as possible causes. Work through these checks rather than repeatedly attempting the same capture.

The scrolling arrow does not appear
- Look for multiple scrollable areas. A page with nested panels or more than one scroll region can make the intended area difficult to detect. Try manual Scrolling Capture and select the target area deliberately.
- Try a different browser. If the capture works elsewhere, the issue may be specific to the browser or page setup.
- Test in a private or incognito window. This can help identify an extension that interferes with the page or capture.
- Return browser zoom to 100%. Then retry with the page in a normal window size.
- Check the application and driver context. Unsupported software, conflicting utilities, or incompatible hardware drivers can prevent automatic scrolling.
The capture stops early or has seams
- Scroll more slowly, especially on pages that load content as they move.
- Use manual scrolling for a page with multiple scroll areas or a layout that automatic detection cannot follow.
- Enlarge the window, exclude the scrollbar and excess margins, and remove floating toolbars before a manual capture.
- Avoid zigzag scrolling. Parallax effects and animated layouts can make manual stitching inaccurate.
Security software may be interfering
TechSmith identifies security software as a possible cause. Do not routinely disable protection. If you need to diagnose a conflict, follow your organization’s security policy, restore protections after any test, and contact the security vendor about an appropriate exception when warranted.
