For a quick PDF, open the Wix page, press Ctrl+P (or use your Mac’s print command), choose Save as PDF, adjust paper size, scale, margins and background graphics, then save. For a true full-page image, use Firefox’s Save full page screenshot or Chrome/Chromium DevTools’ Capture full size screenshot. A normal screenshot captures only the visible viewport.
This guide covers Wix Preview and published pages, desktop and mobile layouts, repeatable Chrome commands, browser extensions, common failures, and an API shortcut when you do not want to maintain browser automation.
Choose the output before you capture
| Goal | Best format and method | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Printing, emailing or selectable text | PDF from the browser Print dialog | Paginated, searchable text and controllable paper settings |
| Pixel-accurate design review | PNG full-page screenshot | Lossless edges and a faithful visual record |
| Smaller visual file | JPG screenshot | Compression reduces size, with some quality loss |
| Very long page for printing | Paginated PDF | Easier to read than one extremely tall image |
| Design board or visual diff | Continuous PNG or PDF | Keeps the whole rendered page in one canvas |
Capture only pages and media you are authorized to reproduce. Wix’s protection settings do not prevent screenshots, but permission to view is not automatically permission to redistribute.
Method 1: Save a Wix page as a PDF with Print
- Open the correct rendered page. In the Wix editor, save your work and choose Preview, or open the published URL. Preview is essential for unpublished changes; an editor canvas is not the same as the visitor-facing page.
- Open printing. Press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux. On macOS, use the browser’s File → Print command (or the platform print shortcut). Wix’s Help Center specifically documents Ctrl+P for printing site pages and also suggests taking a screenshot and printing it: Wix printing guidance.
- Select the PDF destination. Choose Save as PDF (or your operating system’s PDF printer), then set paper size, portrait or landscape orientation, margins, scale, page range and whether to print background graphics.
- Check the preview. Wix pages can span several sheets. Reduce scale or adjust margins if a heading, image or section is split in an awkward place. Turn background graphics on when the design depends on colored panels or hero images.
- Save descriptively. Include the page name, viewport or device, and capture date in the filename, such as
home-desktop-2026-09-29.pdf.
Print CSS, browser version and Wix template styling can change the result. A PDF is normally the right choice when text selection and practical pagination matter more than a single uninterrupted canvas.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Firefox can capture content below the viewport without stitching separate screenshots.
- Open the published or preview Wix URL and wait for fonts, galleries and animations to settle.
- Use the page actions menu and choose Take Screenshot.
- Select Save full page, review the preview, and download the image. Firefox Help documents this flow and the Developer Tools alternative: enable Take a screenshot of the entire page in Developer Tools settings, then click the screenshot icon (Firefox screenshot instructions).
Use PNG for sharp text, logos and UI edges. JPG is suitable when a smaller file is more important than lossless quality. Extremely long pages can produce very tall images that are difficult to open or share.
Method 3: Capture a full-size image in Chrome or Chromium
- Open the Wix page and let it load. If sections use lazy-loaded images, scroll through the page once, return to the top, and wait for all images to finish.
- Open DevTools with F12 (or choose Inspect).
- Open the DevTools Command Menu and search for Capture full size screenshot.
- Run the command and save the resulting PNG. If a carousel, menu or other dynamic component is missing, perform the required interaction first and capture again.
Chrome’s capture uses the rendered page, so sticky headers, consent bars and animations may appear exactly as they did at capture time. Dismiss a banner or hide a bar only when you are entitled to change that view.
Method 4: Repeatable captures from Chrome Headless
Headless Chrome is useful for QA, archives and agencies that need the same command to run repeatedly. Install Chrome or Chromium locally, then adapt the executable name and URL:
chrome --headless --screenshot --window-size=1440,1200 https://example.wixsite.com/site/page
chrome --headless --print-to-pdf --no-pdf-header-footer https://example.wixsite.com/site/page
--screenshot writes a PNG, while --print-to-pdf writes a PDF. The --no-pdf-header-footer flag removes the date, URL and page-number decorations. Chrome’s headless documentation also describes --timeout; increase the wait when Wix animations, fonts or network requests are slow (Chrome Headless documentation).
Rank #2
For a reliable run, use a published URL, a fixed window size, a clean profile and a deliberate wait. A local command cannot make an inaccessible page public; password-protected, geo-restricted or bot-challenged pages may still fail.
Method 5: Use an extension when you need export controls
GoFullPage
The Chrome Web Store listing describes full-page PNG/JPG capture, PDF export, continuous PDFs, standard paper sizes and smart page splitting (GoFullPage listing). It suits a nontechnical toolbar workflow and users who need control over PDF pagination.
FireShot
FireShot’s listing describes entire-page, visible-area and selected-region capture, with PDF, PNG and JPEG export, editing, direct links in PDFs and batch options (FireShot listing). It is useful when annotations or repeated captures matter.

Extension names, permissions and availability can change. Install from the browser’s official store, inspect current permissions, and avoid granting access to pages you should not expose.

Set a consistent Wix viewport for desktop and mobile
A screenshot is only comparable when its viewport is comparable. Wix Studio preview lets you select a device size; use that control before capture, or define an explicit width and height in your browser workflow. Capture desktop, tablet and mobile as separate files rather than stretching one image.
- Record the viewport dimensions and device preset in the filename.
- Use the same browser zoom, color-scheme setting and logged-in state for every comparison.
- For responsive QA, capture the published page after publishing changes; editor preview can include draft-only content.
When Wix content is dynamic or protected
Lazy-loaded images and sections
Wait for the page to finish loading and scroll through it once before a full-page capture. This triggers assets that load only when they approach the viewport.
Cookie banners, sticky bars and chat widgets
Accept or dismiss a consent dialog if you have authority to do so. Close chat and newsletter overlays, or reposition them, before capturing. Otherwise they become part of the visual record.

Wix states that browser behavior controls downloading and printing, and that its protection does not stop screenshots or access through source code (Wix image-protection guidance). This is not a license to copy someone else’s work: capture only material you are allowed to use.

Animations, fonts and localization
Animations can be caught mid-transition and web fonts may load late. Capture the published page in the browser and viewport your audience uses, wait for fonts, and pause or disable motion where your workflow permits. Keep locale, timezone and account state consistent when comparing runs.

ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns a clean PNG, JPEG, WebP or PDF. Before capture it accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks, CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed.

Troubleshooting checklist
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Images or sections are missing | Lazy loading or an unfinished request | Wait, scroll through once, then capture; in automation add a delay or network-idle wait. |
| PDF has URL, date or page numbers | Print headers and footers enabled | Disable them in the print dialog; for Headless Chrome add --no-pdf-header-footer. |
| Only the visible screen appears | Viewport screenshot was used | Choose Firefox Save full page or Chrome Capture full size screenshot. |
| Mobile layout is wrong | Desktop viewport or zoom | Set Wix Studio’s device preview or an explicit viewport width and recapture. |
| Cookie or chat overlay covers content | Overlay was not dismissed | Close it when authorized, or configure an automation tool to accept/remove it. |
| Fonts or animation differ | Capture occurred before assets settled | Use the published page, wait for fonts, and pause motion where possible. |
| Headless command fails | Wrong executable, URL access or local Chrome policy | Check the Chrome/Chromium path, open the URL interactively, and test without restrictive network or profile settings. |
| Protected page cannot be captured | Password, geo restriction or bot challenge | Capture an authorized, accessible session; do not attempt to bypass access controls. |
Practical reliability and privacy choices
- For one page now: use browser Print for PDF or Firefox/Chrome full-page capture for PNG.
- For repeatable QA: pin the URL, viewport, browser version, wait behavior and filename convention; Headless Chrome or an API is easier to run consistently than manual steps.
- For many URLs: use an automated workflow and record verdicts, failures and timestamps. ScreenshotNeo supports bulk capture for up to 100 URLs per call and reports whether a response was billed.
- For sensitive pages: review extension permissions and avoid sending private URLs, cookies or authorization headers to a service unless your organization permits it. If using ScreenshotNeo’s custom headers or cookies, limit them to the request that needs them.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I save a Wix website as a PDF without an extension?
Yes. Open the rendered Preview or published page, press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux (or use macOS File → Print), select Save as PDF, and configure the print settings.
Does a normal screenshot capture the whole Wix page?
No. It captures only the visible viewport. Use Firefox Save full page, Chrome DevTools Capture full size screenshot, or an automated capture service for content below the fold.
Which is better for Wix design review, PNG or PDF?
PNG preserves one continuous visual canvas and lossless edges. PDF is usually better for printing, sharing and selectable text, especially on long pages.
Will Wix image protection stop screenshots?
Wix says its protection does not stop screenshots, but you should reproduce only pages and media you are authorized to use.
