On most Android phones running Android 12 or later, take a regular screenshot, then tap Capture more to extend it down a scrollable screen. On Samsung phones, the corresponding toolbar control may be called Scroll capture. The option is not available on every screen or app, and labels can vary by device and software version.
Take a long screenshot on Android
- Open the page or screen you want to capture. Scroll to the starting point you want included; the screenshot begins with the content currently visible.
- Press Power and Volume down at the same time to take an ordinary screenshot.
- When the screenshot controls appear, tap Capture more.
- Use the crop guidelines to choose how far the image should extend. Include the content you need without capturing extra sections, then save or finish using the controls shown on your phone.
Google’s Android instructions describe this flow for devices running Android 12 and up, and qualify that it works on “most screens that allow you to scroll.” It is therefore a built-in option, not a promise that every app, page, or screen can be captured as one long image. The Pixel Phone Help instructions document the same Power-and-Volume-down shortcut and Capture more flow for Pixel phones and tablets.
What to look for on Pixel and Samsung devices

Pixel Help documents the same general steps: take a screenshot with Power and Volume down, then use Capture more in the screenshot controls. The Android 12-and-later and supported-scrollable-screen qualifications still matter. If the control is absent, the particular screen may not support extending the capture.

Samsung Galaxy phones
Samsung manuals use the toolbar label Scroll capture. The Galaxy S9+ manual describes tapping it to scroll down and capture more; the Galaxy Z Flip6 manual describes capturing both current and hidden content on an elongated page. These examples establish Samsung’s terminology on those models, not a uniform control layout across every Galaxy phone or software release. Take a regular screenshot and inspect the toolbar for Scroll capture; if it is not there, check the manual or support instructions for your exact model.

Why the long-screenshot option may be missing
The first question is whether the screen can be scrolled and whether the phone’s software supports the feature. Google says Capture more works on most screens that allow scrolling, not all of them. A screen that looks like a page may still behave differently from a scrollable document, and a particular app can limit what the screenshot controls can extend.
- No Capture more control: Check whether the open screen actually scrolls. If it does and the option still does not appear, the screen may not support scrolling capture.
- No Scroll capture control on a Samsung phone: The cited Samsung manuals describe the toolbar on specific models. Check your own model’s instructions rather than assuming its layout or behavior matches theirs.
- The screenshot shortcut does not work: Confirm that you pressed Power and Volume down together, then consult your phone manufacturer’s support instructions if the normal screenshot steps fail. Google specifically recommends the manufacturer’s support site as the fallback.
- The steps differ from those here: Android version, manufacturer, model, and app can affect the interface. Use the device-specific instructions for the phone in hand rather than looking for a universal Android setting.
These checks do not establish that a hidden setting, third-party app, or particular app-specific workaround will enable the feature. Avoid changing settings based on instructions for a different phone model; use the manufacturer’s documentation for device-specific remedies.

Choose the capture method for the content
A long screenshot is useful when you need a continuous image of scrollable content. The built-in Android flow lets you choose how much of the page to include through the crop guidelines. If you only need what is currently visible, an ordinary screenshot is enough; if the extended-capture control is unavailable, Android’s general instructions do not guarantee another built-in method for that screen.
For a website, there is a separate option: capture the page in a browser or through a website screenshot service. That is not the same as taking a screenshot of an Android phone’s interface. A browser-based capture can render a web URL, but it cannot reproduce a native app screen or the exact state of your physical device.
