To capture the screen you can currently see, open the page and press Power and Volume down together. For content that continues below the screen, use Android’s Capture more option (Android 12 and later on most scrollable screens) or Chrome’s More > Share… > Long screenshot command. “Homepage” can mean the webpage open in your browser, Chrome’s configured Home destination, or the Android launcher Home screen, so identify which one you mean before choosing a method.
First, identify which “homepage” you want to capture
People use “homepage” for three different Android screens:
- The current website: a page already open in Chrome or another browser. This is usually what someone means when asking how to screenshot a homepage.
- Chrome’s homepage: the page Chrome opens when you tap its Home control. Chrome treats this separately from the startup page shown when the app launches.
- The Android Home screen: the launcher shown when no app is open. It contains app icons and widgets; it is not Chrome’s homepage.
If your goal is a picture of a website, open that website first. Changing Chrome’s homepage setting is not required.
Take a screenshot of the visible screen
- Open the webpage, app, or screen you want to capture.
- Press Power and Volume down at the same time.
- Wait for the screenshot preview or animation.
- Tap the preview if you need to crop, edit, or share the image.
On some phones, holding the Power button for a few seconds displays a menu with a Screenshot command. If neither method works, the phone maker may use a different control or gesture; consult that manufacturer’s support instructions rather than assuming every Android model has identical buttons.

Find the saved image
On phones using Google Photos, open Photos > Collections > On this device > Screenshots. Phones without Photos may save images in the manufacturer’s Gallery app, usually in a Screenshots album. The preview is also a quick way to confirm that the correct page was captured before you leave it.
Capture a full, scrolling screen with Android
Android’s system scrolling capture extends a normal screenshot downward. Google documents this for devices running Android 12 or later and for most screens that allow you to scroll; it is not guaranteed on every device, browser, app, or website.
- Open the scrollable page.
- Press Power and Volume down together.
- Tap Capture more in the screenshot controls.
- Move the crop guides until the selected area contains the content you need.
- Save, edit, or share the resulting image.
The capture follows the screen’s supported scrolling behavior. If Capture more does not appear, that screen may not support Android’s system extension, your device may not implement it, or the phone may be running an earlier Android release. Do not keep repeating the button combination expecting a hidden full-page mode; use Chrome’s separate webpage flow when the target is a page open in Chrome.
Take a long webpage screenshot in Chrome
Chrome for Android has its own long-screenshot command. It is a browser sharing action, distinct from Android’s system-level Capture more.
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Tap More (the menu next to the address bar).
- Choose Share…, then Long screenshot.
- Drag the crop handles to set how much of the page to include.
- Tap Confirm, then save the image or send it to another app.
This route is useful when you specifically need a webpage rather than an arbitrary app screen. The exact availability can vary by Chrome build, device, and page, so a missing Long screenshot command does not necessarily indicate a problem with your page.

Chrome homepage settings are separate from screenshots
Chrome defines its homepage as the page opened when you select Home. Its startup page is the page displayed when Chrome first launches, so the two destinations can differ.
To change Chrome’s homepage, open More > Settings > Advanced > Homepage, then choose Chrome’s homepage or a custom page. This changes what the browser’s Home control opens; it does not capture an image and is not needed before taking a screenshot.
If you mean the Android launcher Home screen, leave Chrome and view the screen shown when no app is open. Chrome can create a website shortcut on that launcher, but a shortcut is an icon or link, not a screenshot of the website. To capture the launcher itself, use the ordinary Power-and-Volume-down method while the launcher is visible.

Troubleshooting
The buttons do nothing
Press Power and Volume down simultaneously rather than holding one first. If that still fails, hold Power and tap Screenshot if your phone offers that menu item. When neither option exists, use the manufacturer’s support instructions because button combinations and gestures vary by device.
Capture more is missing
Check the Android version and the type of screen. Google limits the documented feature to Android 12 and later and most scrollable screens. Some screens simply do not expose the scrolling interface. For a webpage in Chrome, try More > Share… > Long screenshot instead.

Chrome does not show Long screenshot
Confirm that the page is open in Chrome and that you opened the menu next to the address bar, selected Share…, and looked for Long screenshot. The command is not promised for every Chrome build, device, or page. If it is unavailable, use the visible screenshot or Android’s Capture more where supported.
The result is the wrong screen
Return to the exact website or launcher view you intended to capture before pressing the buttons. A Chrome homepage setting does not automatically capture that page, and a launcher shortcut does not contain the webpage image.

For authenticated or localized pages, provide custom headers, cookies, a user agent, an Authorization value, timezone, or geolocation. Other controls include transparent backgrounds, image resizing, a cache with a TTL you choose, signed links for public <img> tags, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification.
