In Microsoft Edge, open the page, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose the full-page capture option, then copy or save the result. Edge’s built-in Screenshot tool captures content below the fold, unlike the Windows Snipping Tool’s normal screen, window, and region captures. The feature was previously called Web Capture, so older instructions may use that name.
Use Edge Screenshot for a scrolling or full-page capture
This is the simplest Windows 10 method when the content is a webpage. You do not need an extension or a separate screenshot program. Microsoft describes Edge Screenshot as able to capture a full page or a selected area, including long or moving webpages, and its overlay lets you mark up the result before copying or saving it.
Step 1: Open the page in Microsoft Edge
Navigate to the page you want to preserve and wait until the visible content has finished loading. If the page reveals sections only after scrolling, scroll through it once first when practical; some sites load images or text lazily as they approach the viewport.
Step 2: Start Screenshot
Use any of Edge’s documented entry points:
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Right-click on the page and choose Screenshot.
- Open Edge’s Settings and more menu and select Screenshot.
Microsoft Edge policy documentation says that, when the Screenshot policy is enabled or not configured, the command appears in the context menu, the Settings and more menu, and the Ctrl+Shift+S shortcut. That policy document was updated May 22, 2026.

Step 3: Select the full page
Choose the full-page option rather than dragging a rectangle around the currently visible area. The full-page mode extends the capture down the document; the area mode is appropriate when you need only a portion of the page.
Step 4: Review, mark up, and save
Edge displays the capture in an overlay. Review the top, middle, and bottom for missing sections or loading artifacts. Use the available markup tools if you need to draw or highlight something, then choose Copy to place the image on the clipboard or Save to write it to a file.
Keep the original page open until you have confirmed the saved result. A page can change while it is being captured, and interactive content, advertisements, or consent dialogs may occupy space that was not present when you started.
What Edge captures—and what it may not
A full-page capture follows the webpage document rather than the physical Windows desktop. It is the right choice for an article, dashboard, receipt, or documentation page that continues below the viewport. It is not a guarantee that every nested scrolling surface will be flattened into one image.

Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Long documents: normally captured beyond the visible screen when you choose full page.
- Moving pages: Microsoft specifically calls out long or moving webpages, but animations can still produce a frame that differs from what you saw moments earlier.
- Embedded frames and nested scroll areas: Edge does not promise that every embedded frame or independently scrolling region will be captured exactly as displayed.
- Lazy-loaded material: content that appears only after interaction or scrolling may require you to trigger it before capture.
- Consent and sign-in states: the capture reflects the page state in your browser, including dialogs or account-specific content that is visible at capture time.
Edge Screenshot versus Windows Snipping Tool
Windows 10 includes Snipping Tool, but its documented modes are designed for the screen rather than an entire scrolling webpage. Press Windows+Shift+S to open its capture overlay, then choose the mode that matches the job.

| Task | Best built-in choice | What it captures | Output workflow |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entire webpage below the fold | Edge Screenshot, full page | The webpage document, including content farther down | Review, mark up, copy, or save |
| Visible rectangular region | Snipping Tool or Edge area capture | A selected portion of the current screen or page | Copy or save after the overlay opens |
| One application window | Snipping Tool window mode | The selected Windows window | Copy or save the snip |
| Whole desktop | Snipping Tool full-screen mode | The physical display area | Copy or save the snip |
Snipping Tool offers freeform, rectangular, window, and full-screen snips. It is useful for a dialog, an error message, or a desktop demonstration, but those documented modes do not replace Edge’s full-page webpage capture.
If the shortcut or menu item is missing
Check the command in both menus
Right-click inside the webpage, then check Edge’s Settings and more menu. If Screenshot appears in one location but not another, use the available entry point and restart Edge later to refresh the interface.
Consider an organization policy
Microsoft’s WebCaptureEnabled policy controls whether the Screenshot option is available. If an administrator has disabled the policy, the command and shortcut can be hidden. On a managed Windows 10 computer, contact the administrator rather than attempting to alter policy settings yourself.

Make sure the page, not browser chrome, has focus
Click once inside the webpage before using the shortcut. A focused address bar, extension popup, or another application can intercept keyboard input.
Improve the quality of a full-page capture
Prepare the page
- Close menus, tooltip bubbles, translation bars, and temporary dialogs that should not appear.
- Accept or dismiss a cookie banner when appropriate; otherwise it may cover content in the saved image.
- Sign in if the page requires an account, and verify that sensitive information is not exposed in the final file.
- Allow fonts, images, and charts to finish loading. For pages that load as you scroll, make a slow pass through the document before starting Screenshot.
Check the result at multiple points
Do not inspect only the top edge. Jump through the middle and bottom of the captured image and look for blank blocks, repeated sections, clipped fixed headers, or components that remained in a loading state. If a section is missing, return to the live page, trigger that section, and capture again.

Choose full page only when it helps
A very long page can produce an unwieldy image. For a bug report, a focused area or window snip may be clearer. For an audit trail or an article archive, full page preserves the document’s sequence and context.
Browser alternatives: use them cautiously
A 2022 Tom’s Hardware guide describes Firefox’s right-click Take Screenshot command followed by Save full page. The same guide lists Chrome workflows based on printing to PDF, a Developer Tools full-size screenshot command, or an extension such as GoFullPage.

If you need repeatable captures, a server-side API avoids opening Edge and manually checking every page. ScreenshotNeo returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF from one request and includes an MCP server for AI agents such as Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.

ScreenshotNeo API documentation
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
The equivalent Python request is:
import requests
r = requests.get("https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot", params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"}, timeout=90)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
And Node.js:
const q = new URLSearchParams({ access_key: 'YOUR_API_KEY', url: 'https://stripe.com' });
const res = await fetch(`https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot?${q}`);
Why this differs from a manual Edge capture
- Before the capture, ScreenshotNeo accepts the cookie or consent banner like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets. Each cleanup step can be turned off.
- Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. The response identifies the result with
X-Page-VerdictandX-Billedheaders. - The MCP server provides
take_screenshot,get_page_info, andcapture_pdftools to AI agents. - The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month without a card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots; every feature is included on every plan.
Options for production captures
ScreenshotNeo supports full-page captures with lazy images loaded, a single element selected by CSS selector, dark mode, 12 device presets or any viewport, and retina scale. You can render HTML/CSS to an image, add custom CSS or JavaScript, click an element before capture, hide selectors, or wait for a selector, a delay, or network idle.
For page control and privacy, you can block ads, trackers, selected requests, or resource types; send custom headers, cookies, a user agent, or an Authorization header; and set timezone, geolocation, or a transparent background. Image resizing and a cache with a TTL you choose help control delivery and repeat work.
For documents and automation, the service supports PDF paper size, margins, landscape orientation, and page ranges; signed links for public <img> tags; asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks; bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call; a usage API; and an OpenAPI specification. Parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, which can reduce migration changes.

Confirm that you selected full page rather than an area. If it is already selected, load the page again, scroll through lazy sections, and retry. Nested scrolling containers may not be merged into the document capture.

The image contains a cookie banner or chat widget
Dismiss those elements in Edge before capturing, or hide them with page-specific controls. ScreenshotNeo removes known consent banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, with controls to disable individual cleanup steps.
The capture contains blank sections
Wait for fonts, images, and scripts to finish loading, then retry. A blank section can also indicate a failed page request or content that appears only after interaction.
The shortcut does nothing
Use the context-menu or Settings and more entry point. If all three entry points are absent, a managed Edge policy may have disabled Screenshot.
The saved file is too large to use
Capture a meaningful area instead, or use a PDF when the goal is reading and printing rather than image editing. For automated output, ScreenshotNeo offers image resizing and selectable output formats.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can an administrator hide Edge Screenshot?
Yes. Microsoft’s WebCaptureEnabled policy governs the feature’s availability. When the policy is disabled, the Screenshot command and its keyboard shortcut may not appear; on a managed computer, ask the administrator to review the policy.
