WordPress lets you schedule a post for a future date, but its built-in Bulk Edit does not assign different publication dates to a batch of selected posts. For that, use a scheduling plugin. If you only have a few posts, Quick Edit can schedule them one at a time.
Can WordPress schedule multiple posts at once?
WordPress core supports future publication dates, but its standard Posts screen does not provide a native way to give each selected post its own future date in one batch. The WordPress Posts screen documentation describes Bulk Edit for shared fields such as author, comments, status, ping settings, and sticky state. Quick Edit has a date field for changing an individual post.
Choose the method that matches the job:
- A few posts, dates already decided: use Quick Edit on each post.
- A batch on a regular cadence: use a bulk scheduler that applies intervals.
- A calendar you want to arrange visually: use an editorial calendar plugin.
- An action after publication, such as unpublishing: use a future-action plugin, not a launch-calendar scheduler.
Schedule posts one at a time with WordPress Quick Edit
This native workflow is suitable when the batch is small and you want to choose each date and time yourself.

- In the WordPress dashboard, open Posts. Filter the list by date, category, or status to find the drafts you intend to schedule.
- For a post, open Quick Edit, set its date and time to a future point, then update the post.
- Repeat for each post. Check the Scheduled view to confirm the posts appear with the intended dates.
- Confirm the site timezone under Settings > General so the displayed schedule corresponds to the time you expect.
The main trade-off is manual work: Quick Edit schedules posts individually, so it is not a bulk date-assignment feature.
Choose a plugin for batch scheduling
Batch schedulers differ in how they assign dates. Some calculate a sequence from a starting date and interval; others let you place posts on a visual calendar. Check the plugin’s current WordPress and PHP compatibility, especially before installing on a production site.
#1 Best Overall
| Plugin | Batch model and interface | Content scope and useful fit | Automation or limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| PubliPal | A wizard selects, sorts, and reorders items, then calculates dates using intervals in minutes, hours, days, or weeks and optional weekday restrictions. | Supports posts, pages, and supported custom post types; useful when a batch needs a calculated schedule before dates are applied. | Pro adds advanced filters, reusable presets, date ranges, and recurring exclusions. The listing specifies WordPress 6.5+, PHP 8.2+, and single-site installation; verify the listing for current compatibility. |
| LuckyFish Bulk Scheduler | Select drafts from the Posts screen, set the first publish date and time, and choose spacing between posts. | Useful for a straightforward linear queue, such as one draft every seven days. | The described workflow focuses on assigning a start point and interval; other automation features are not stated in the product information cited here. |
| SchedulePress | Visual editorial calendar with drag-and-drop date changes and scheduling hundreds of posts from the calendar. | Useful when visual planning, multi-author management, or social distribution is important. | Some automation and social-sharing features are marked Pro. |
| Editorial Calendar | Calendar view, drag-and-drop rescheduling, draft drawer, and inline edits. | A free calendar-focused option for seeing and moving scheduled content, including coordination across authors. | Its described emphasis is calendar visibility and quick changes rather than interval-based batch assignment; other automation is not stated. |
How to pick the right scheduling approach
- Need dates calculated from one starting point? PubliPal or LuckyFish Bulk Scheduler is a closer fit: PubliPal offers more interval and weekday controls, while LuckyFish describes a simpler start-date-and-spacing workflow.
- Need to choose or move dates by looking at a calendar? Consider SchedulePress or Editorial Calendar. SchedulePress also lists social-sharing capabilities, some of which are Pro; Editorial Calendar centers on calendar visibility and editing.
- Need to include pages or custom post types? PubliPal explicitly lists those content types, with custom post type support limited to supported types. The other descriptions here do not establish equivalent scope.
- Need posts to expire or change after publication? PublishPress Future covers scheduled actions, a different task from assigning a future launch date to drafts.
Apply a batch schedule carefully
A scheduler may write new dates to many posts at once. Review the selection and calculated results before applying the change, particularly when publication timing affects a business calendar.
- Back up the site before a large batch operation.
- Confirm the site timezone and the intended first publication time.
- Filter the post list or plugin selection, then review every selected item for accidental inclusions.
- Use a short test batch on a staging site if the publishing calendar is business-critical.
- After applying the schedule, check that each item has Scheduled status and the expected date and time.
- Monitor the queue for missed publication events rather than assuming every scheduled post published successfully.
When PublishPress Future is the right tool
PublishPress Future schedules an action to happen after publication or at a chosen future action date. Its actions include unpublishing, trashing, deleting, changing status, or changing categories; its Quick Edit and Bulk Edit modes can apply an action date to multiple posts. Use it for content expiration or other future changes, not as the primary way to assign a publication calendar to a batch of drafts.
