Google Calendar no longer has a generally available built-in weather switch. To place a multi-day forecast beside your appointments, subscribe to an external weather calendar feed (ICS or webcal://). The result is a separate, read-only calendar; it can show five days only when the provider supplies five forecast days, and it is not a replacement for radar or emergency alerts.
As of August 18, 2026, Google’s documented alternate calendars include lunar, solar, moon-phase and sports calendars, but not weather: Google’s calendar documentation.
Quick answer
- Use a weather provider that generates an ICS/iCalendar or
webcal://feed. - Open Google Calendar in a desktop browser.
- Choose Other calendars → + → From URL.
- Paste the complete feed URL and select Add calendar.
- Enable the new calendar, then check the forecast entries beside your events.
This is a subscription to a changing feed, not a one-time file upload. Google Calendar and the provider determine when entries refresh.

Why the old weather setting is missing
Older guides refer to a setting such as Settings → General → Location → Show weather based on my location. That was part of a legacy interface and is not a dependable option in current Google Calendar. Do not spend time looking for it. Current Google Calendar guidance and product-expert responses direct users to third-party calendar subscriptions instead.

The old feature also showed weather icons and temperatures in the calendar interface. A subscribed feed normally appears as forecast events in a separate calendar, so it may not restore those header icons.
How to add a five-day forecast
1. Generate a feed for the correct location
Meteomatics provides an example generator for Google Calendar, iCal and Outlook at Meteomatics Weather Calendar. On its page:
- Search for your city or select the location on the map.
- Check the map pin. City names can be ambiguous, and a ZIP code may represent a nearby station rather than your exact address.
- Choose Fahrenheit or Celsius.
- Select Generate.
- In the Google Calendar section, select Copy link.
The provider controls the forecast horizon and update behavior. Its feed might contain five days, seven days, 10 days or another period; Google does not guarantee a five-day result.
2. Subscribe in Google Calendar on the web
- Open Google Calendar on a computer and expand the left sidebar if necessary.
- Find Other calendars, select the + icon and choose From URL.
- Paste the complete URL supplied by the provider. It may begin with
https://, begin withwebcal://or end in.ics. - Select Add calendar.
Google’s iCalendar documentation explains the calendar-link model: view calendars through iCalendar links. Paste the provider’s URL exactly; do not alter query parameters.
3. Check the forecast
The new calendar should appear under Other calendars. Switch to Week view, enable its checkbox, and open an entry to inspect its location, temperatures and description. Many feeds use all-day or day-level entries, which is normal.

- WIFI TIPS: If your router has "dual-band combining" or "smart fusion", turn it off in the router settings. Then create a separate 2.4G network with a name that uses only English letters and numbers. You can also set the router fixed channel to 1 or 6, use WPA2-PSK (AES) encryption mode, and disable WPA3, smart wall penetration, WiFi optimization, power saving and device isolation functions. Another simple way: temporarily turn off the 5G band. After you finish connecting the device, you can turn 5G back on.
Rename the calendar and choose a contrasting color from its options menu so forecast entries are easy to distinguish from appointments.
Subscription versus importing an ICS file

Use From URL when you want a continuing forecast. Download-and-import is suitable only for a static snapshot.
Show the weather calendar on Android or iPhone
Set up the subscription from the desktop website; mobile apps do not consistently expose external URL-subscription controls. After adding it:
- Open the Google Calendar app and open the calendar list or settings.
- Enable the subscribed weather calendar.
- Confirm that the app is signed in to the same Google account used on the web.
- Make sure calendar synchronization is enabled, then refresh or wait for the feed to finish importing.
Labels and controls vary by app version. If the calendar appears on the web but not on a phone, account selection and synchronization are the first checks.
Change the location or remove weather
Change location
A subscribed feed generally cannot be edited into a different location inside Google Calendar. Generate a new feed for the destination, add it through Other calendars → + → From URL, verify it, then remove the old calendar.

Hide temporarily
Uncheck the weather calendar in the left sidebar. Its data remains subscribed but is hidden from the current view.

Remove permanently
Open the calendar’s options menu, choose Settings or Unsubscribe (the label depends on the interface), and confirm.
Do not follow old instructions for deleting a hidden “legacy weather calendar” through the Calendar API. Those procedures concern obsolete accounts and can cause authorization errors.
Troubleshooting
“From URL” is not available
- Use Google Calendar in a desktop browser, not the mobile app.
- Expand the sidebar and look specifically under Other calendars, not My calendars.
- An organization-managed Google Workspace account may restrict subscriptions. Try a personal account or contact the administrator.
The calendar is present but blank
- Confirm that the entire URL was copied and that it is an ICS or
webcal://feed, not the provider’s ordinary webpage. - Check that the location was valid and the weather calendar is checked.
- Refresh the browser and move the date range forward; entries may be outside the visible period.
- Verify that the provider is still generating the feed.
The forecast is stale or in the past
Refresh timing is controlled by both Google and the provider, so it is not necessarily immediate. Wait, refresh later and compare with the provider’s own forecast page. If the feed repeatedly stays stale, remove it and switch providers. A 2026 Google Calendar Community report documents this failure pattern and a successful provider change: weather feed stuck in the past.
The location is wrong
Recheck the map marker and use a ZIP code or a city-and-state combination where available. Generate a new location-specific feed if necessary.

Only some days appear
Google displays only what the provider publishes. The provider may have a shorter forecast horizon, may be updating the feed, or may use a plan or location with different coverage. No exact five-day count is guaranteed.
What this setup can—and cannot—do

Forecast confidence generally decreases farther into the future. Keep a trusted weather service for rapidly changing or safety-critical conditions.

Dedicated weather app
Use an app alongside Calendar when you need hourly forecasts, radar, push notifications or severe-weather warnings. The calendar feed remains useful for a quick day-level view.
IFTTT automations
IFTTT’s Google Calendar weather integrations can create custom events such as “rain likely tomorrow.” This is automation rather than a passive five-day subscription and may require account permissions, a paid plan or a maintained applet.

Choose a provider that states its location coverage, forecast horizon and update policy. Avoid old Weather Underground iCalendar instructions; Google community material records those feeds as discontinued: Weather Underground iCalendar discussion.

Privacy and account permissions
A normal weather feed URL does not need access to your Google account or existing events. Prefer a URL subscription over an app requesting broad calendar permissions, and use a provider you trust.
Never share a private Google Calendar “secret address.” Google warns that anyone with such a link may be able to view the associated calendar: calendar-link privacy guidance. A weather-provider URL and a private Google calendar address are different things.
Google Home and Assistant limitation
Google Home does not necessarily read imported or URL-based weather calendars as it does supported personal calendars. Google documents these limitations here: Google Home calendar information. Do not rely on a Nest speaker to announce this subscribed forecast.

Can I add weather directly from the Google Calendar mobile app?
The dependable setup is on Google Calendar’s desktop website. Afterward, enable the subscribed calendar in the mobile app.
Does a weather-calendar subscription guarantee five days?
No. The provider decides how many days its feed supplies; verify the entries after subscribing.
Will the feed update in real time?
No guarantee. Google and the provider control refresh timing, so it may lag behind the provider’s weather page.
Can I subscribe to more than one location?
Yes. Generate and add a separate feed for each location, then name and color them clearly.

Do not assume so. Google Home has limitations for imported and URL-based calendars.
