A general carousel block is another option when you want to build each slide from ordinary WordPress blocks.
Choose the right implementation
Your choice depends on how testimonials will be collected and how much control editors need over each slide.

Examples in the WordPress.org directory include Easy Testimonial Slider and Form, rtCarousel and Real Testimonials. Directory descriptions are useful for feature discovery, but they are not independent performance, security or accessibility audits.
Install and configure a testimonial plugin
1. Prepare the site
Back up the site or use a staging copy if that is part of your normal plugin-change process. Confirm that the plugin supports your WordPress version, PHP version and active theme before enabling it on a production site.

2. Install the plugin
- In the WordPress dashboard, open Plugins → Add New.
- Search for the plugin by its current name, such as Easy Testimonial Slider and Form.
- Select Install Now, then Activate.
The directory instructions for Easy Testimonial Slider and Form use this exact installation path. Labels can vary slightly between WordPress releases and plugin versions.
3. Add approved testimonials
Open the plugin’s testimonial-management screen and create each entry. Add the customer’s quote, name and any attribution or image that you have permission to publish. Keep the wording accurate, and document consent for names, photographs and identifying details according to your privacy obligations.
4. Insert the slider block
- Edit the page or post where the testimonials should appear.
- Open the block inserter and search for Testimonial Slider.
- Insert the block, select the testimonials or slider configuration, and adjust the available layout and navigation settings.
- Save or update the page, then preview it at desktop and mobile widths.
Easy Testimonial Slider and Form also documents the shortcode [print_best_testimonial_slider]. Add a Shortcode block in the editor and paste that shortcode when a block-based placement is not suitable. Shortcode attributes and styling options depend on the installed version.

Use a general carousel block instead
A block-based carousel such as rtCarousel can hold ordinary WordPress blocks in each slide. This lets you combine a testimonial quote with a customer name, logo, portrait, button or supporting text without moving content into a separate testimonial database.

- Add its carousel block to the target page.
- Create one slide per testimonial and place paragraph, heading, image or other blocks inside each slide.
- Configure previous/next controls and pagination dots.
- Set a readable slide height so longer quotes are not clipped, then check the result on narrow screens.
This route is convenient for a small, editor-managed set of quotes. It generally does not provide the same testimonial submission and moderation workflow as a dedicated plugin.
Enable visitor submissions safely
Some testimonial plugins provide a front-end form. Easy Testimonial Slider and Form documents a submission-form shortcode and says incoming entries are placed in pending status. Review every submission before publishing it, and enable the plugin’s captcha option when appropriate.

- Decide which fields are necessary, such as quote, name, company and image.
- Tell submitters how their information will be used.
- Check pending entries for spam, unsupported claims and missing consent.
- Publish only approved entries from the WordPress admin.
A form that publishes submissions immediately can expose spam or personal information, so do not assume that every plugin has moderation enabled by default.
Configure rotation without hurting usability
Prefer manual control
Automatic movement can interrupt reading, especially when a quote changes before a visitor finishes it. A manually operated slider or a static testimonial grid is often the better default.
If autoplay is enabled
- Provide a visible pause or stop control.
- Keep previous and next controls usable from the keyboard.
- Pause movement while the pointer is over the carousel and while it has keyboard focus, if the plugin supports those settings.
- Respect reduced-motion preferences where the plugin offers that option.
- Use enough time for a visitor to read the longest quote.
The WordPress.org listing for Accessible Carousel & Slider describes no autoplay by default, a stop/start control when autoplay is enabled, pausing on hover and focus, reduced-motion handling, keyboard controls and a readable fallback when JavaScript is unavailable. Those are vendor-described features, not independent certification that another plugin or the entire site meets WCAG. WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 2.2.2 covers pause, stop and hide behavior; site-wide conformance requires broader testing.

Test before publishing
- Open the page in an incognito window while logged out.
- Use the previous, next and pagination controls with a keyboard only.
- Confirm that focus is visible and that focus does not jump unexpectedly after a slide changes.
- Try the pause or stop control, if autoplay is on.
- Check the longest testimonial at mobile and desktop widths.
- Test with images disabled or JavaScript unavailable when your plugin provides a fallback.
- Check the page with a screen reader and verify that each quote, attribution and control has a sensible reading order.
Understand free and paid feature differences
Easy Testimonial Slider and Form lists one slider in its free version. Its Pro feature list includes unlimited sliders, a testimonial grid and additional styling. Real Testimonials lists slider, carousel, grid, form and shortcode blocks; its directory entry states minimum requirements of WordPress 6.3 and PHP 7.4 and shows a 4.0.0 changelog dated September 4, 2026. These are plugin-specific directory details and may change, so verify the current listing before committing to a setup.
Do not choose a plugin solely because it advertises a carousel. Confirm that the current version supplies the controls, moderation, responsive behavior and editor workflow your site actually needs.
Troubleshoot common problems
The slider is blank
- Confirm that at least one testimonial is published rather than pending or draft.
- Check that the block or shortcode points to the correct slider.
- Temporarily test with caching and optimization features disabled to identify a script conflict.
The shortcode appears as text
Place [print_best_testimonial_slider] in a WordPress Shortcode block or the editor context supported by your theme. If it still prints literally, confirm that the plugin is active and that the shortcode spelling matches the installed version.

Slides overflow on mobile
Shorten or reformat unusually long quotes, check image dimensions, and test the carousel at the narrowest viewport you support. Avoid fixed heights that hide text.
Autoplay does not stop
Look for the plugin’s pause, hover, focus and reduced-motion settings. If visitors cannot stop the movement or operate controls by keyboard, disable autoplay or replace the component.
