To add an interactive 360° photo in WordPress, start with an actual 360° panorama, then embed it using WordPress.com’s [vr] shortcode or a self-hosted WordPress panorama plugin. A viewer lets visitors pan around the image; it does not turn an ordinary photograph into a 360° capture.
Prepare a 360° image
You need a panorama captured with a 360° camera or a smartphone app that can create 360° photos. WordPress.com’s guide names both phone apps and Ricoh Theta cameras as ways to capture them; dedicated hardware is optional if you already have a suitable image. See WordPress.com’s 360° photo instructions.
For plugin viewers, check the image format and dimensions the plugin supports. For example, Photo Sphere Viewer’s listing describes equirectangular JPEG or PNG images for panoramas. That plugin also documents image scaling that can affect sharpness; details are in the image-quality section below.
Add a 360° image on WordPress.com
- In your WordPress.com dashboard, open Media and upload the panorama.
- Open the uploaded image and copy its URL.
- Edit the post or page where the image should appear. Add a Shortcode block.
- Paste
[vr url=PASTE-IMAGE-URL-HERE view=360], replacingPASTE-IMAGE-URL-HEREwith the copied image URL. - Preview the page and test the viewer on the devices and browsers your visitors use, then publish.
WordPress.com’s support guide also documents a cinematic panorama view. To use it, set the view parameter to cinema: [vr url=PASTE-IMAGE-URL-HERE view=cinema]. The guide was last reviewed September 8, 2026. Check it for current behavior and any changes to supported media.

Add a 360° image on self-hosted WordPress
On a self-hosted site, install a panorama plugin that matches the interactions you need. Follow that plugin’s own instructions for adding its block, shortcode, or page-builder widget; the editor workflow varies by plugin.
Panorama by bPlugins
The WordPress.org listing documents a shortcode workflow: install and activate the plugin, then use its shortcode in a post, page, or widget. Panorama Block
For a block-based setup, install and activate the plugin, add its block in the editor, choose a panoramic image or video from the media library, and configure rotation and viewer controls in the sidebar before publishing. The listing describes PNG and JPEG panoramas, MP4 and WebM video, manual pan, zoom and drag controls, and auto-rotation. It says its premium Panorama Viewer Pro adds tours, hotspots, Street View, and WooCommerce integration. Check the Panorama Block listing for current requirements and tier details.
Photo Sphere Viewer
This plugin documents a Gutenberg panorama block, Elementor widgets, and shortcodes. Its shortcode builder includes [psv] for panoramas, [psv_tour] for tours, [psv_video] for video, and [psv_ar] for its AR model viewer. WPVR
WPVR documents a shortcode, Gutenberg block, and elements for several page builders. Its listing describes tour features such as tooltips, descriptions, links, and booking or inquiry buttons, as well as a Pro floor-plan feature. Consult the WPVR listing for the current editor workflow and feature availability.

Check image sharpness and video support
Image scaling
Photo Sphere Viewer’s listing says WordPress scales images with a long edge greater than 2560 pixels and serves the scaled image by default. It describes a Pro “Use Original Image” option for loading the original upload. This is the plugin’s documented behavior; check the listing and your site’s actual image handling if full-resolution detail matters.
WordPress.com 360° video
WordPress.com describes 360° video as an experimental beta feature. Its support guide says uploading 360° video requires VideoPress and identifies playback restrictions: it is supported in all browsers except iOS Safari and experimental Chrome. Because beta status and browser support can change, check the current WordPress.com support guide before relying on video for a published page.
